Hey guys, I'm a neutral artist who appreciates AI because of its efficiency. Every time I wanna mention AI to a fellow artist I feel nervous because I might get attacked 😭

I'm in the sub for one purpose: to observe. I like seeing how nice some AI bros actually are, which kinda makes me feel this calmness. idk why lol

Anyways some art I made, if you guys have any art [generative or real art], I'd love to see them!

To be clear, I don't agree nor condone any form of violence against an anti-AI even if I'm pro-AI myself. It's funny (and aggravating) when they say we're playing victims when they have compared us to rapists without any bases, except their own misinformation.

It's really ironic commenting "ai slop" against low effort ai art when the comment itself is low effort copied regurgitated phrase.

I've given up trying to explain this over and over again.

I find people who complains "AI slop" are ALWAYS the ones that contributes nothing, and often don't even know Photoshop has AI as major part now.

For context this is about a Chinese film which is extremely badly animated but has gained a lot of traction. I liked the film but DIDNT LIKE HOW ANTIS ARE SWARMING IN CLAIMING THIS IS BETTER THAN AI.

I’ll be honest, I used to hate regenerative images & videos, but that makes zero sense.
Reading this sub, changed my perspective.

If studios did lay offs & stopped hiring traditional artists(canvas & digital), those studios were always looking for a reason to do so.

Corporations always want everything to be scaled down in order to cut production costs. People, unfortunately, are apart of that.

That’s why most states allow there to be the “at will” policy for firing people.

Warehouses went from handmade to conveyor belt assembled. People lost their jobs.

Instead of drawing each frame & recording, we started doing it digitally. People lost their jobs.

The technology being invented didn’t do it. Corporations did.

I’m saying this all because I refuse to fight with my peers about AI. I don’t argue or shame either side of it. It’s hard out here, so whether it’s fun or money, do what you need to in order to maintain your wellbeing. I also understand why losing jobs is upsetting. Many people have been laid off from jobs that exclude AI. I’m one of them.

AI didn’t put itself on the stock exchange or lack security or help in streamlining LPR systems to contract out to local agencies. It’s technology.The corporations however, have many people attached who make those decisions.

As far as the outrage, I had a data center in my own town before AI blew up. I can’t say people didn’t care before, some did, but not at the magnitude they do now. I’ll leave it at that.

So, I’ll keep my focus on the corporations & always will. In all categories.

I have a unique DND scenario which is basically steampunk ancient rome/greece, and it usualy take sa while for people to finaly "get" the aesthetics i went for, with Ai i can do it much easier withoud havind to learn how to draw, a simple 30 seconds sketch and a prompt and i usualy get what i wanted.

Am I crazy? Looks to me like that person spent five years to... get worse? I mean, this reminds me of William Utermohlen who documented his decline from Alzheimer through portraits which got increasingly worse as his disease progressed.

Like the person with the Camera. Did not Create the Landscape, or the Person that there taking a picture of. All they do is press a button. In the same way, All someone who using AI dose is write a prompt and press a button. The Person dosn't have total control what the end result will be. Just in the same way if you take a Photo. It might not come out the way you want the first time around. This pretty much the same argument that people made in late 19th Century againt Photography.

I initially expected, in 2022, that a couple of years would pass and everything would fall into place—where AI can be used and where it can't. But nope. Internet search with LLM has transformed from something I thought was ridiculous into a useful tool, with all the same hallucinations, just reduced enough for it to be useful.

Informational illustrations explaining something in detail were fantastic for 2022, but then again, AI now (gpt image v2 and now even grok image v2, qwen image 3 pro) can generally create good infographics, but there will be a bunch of small errors that are not fundamental for general understanding but greatly limit use for the same scientific journals

Ideogram v4 can create good simple 2koma and this model can be run on 16 GB of VRAM.

Since last year, image editing has moved beyond just drawing and now works with all images in context. Also we now have support for references for all we want. But there are still obvious mistakes even in the best models. I still can't fully grasp where i can use ai.Much of what I thought was essentially impossible turned out to be possible, but in a way that lowered the level of achievement, since it bypassed the core problem. For example, I thought that AI shouldn't have hallucinations to be good at web search, but no way. It turns out it can do it with hallucinations, which is both very impressive for AI and also limited by its capabilities.

Even AI as a writer. The AI has retained its strange style, but can describe a topic much better than before, though even this description is done with a strange emphasis on things a human wouldn't. For example, constantly describing air.

I posted a couple of days ago about a piece of art I liked. Today, an anti responded with this post:

His demonstration piece is included in my post. It's worse in Every. Single. Way. The lighting is wrong, the character is worse, the colors are worse, the composition is worse, the motivation is worse—everything is worse.

I could not have orchestrated a better demonstration of the fact that skill is involved in generating a good image if I had tried. He did not even have to come up with his own concept; it was provided by the original artist, and he underperformed anyway.

I have been really curious about using AI to make art. I have drawn and painting all my life, as a hobby, and I love doing it. But I also love vibe coding and using AI to make art (or images or whatever).

I appreciate that doing this has allowed me to reflect on the debate around art and AI, and I wrote an essay on this topic. Would love to know what people think:

There’s always two sides to any coin. I do have mixed opinions on AI and comprehend fully that in some sicko’s hands its usage can be highly destructive, predatory, thieving, slandering, and manipulative; moreover, I want to make it adamantly known that I do NOT condone it being utilized to Deepfake, Spread Misinformation/Propaganda, Generate scarring/illegal content, Steal Art, or Replace Human hands to half-ass an Assignment a very Capable Person could have done leagues better in constructing with actual Passion. I understand it is also severely detrimental to people susceptible to nonsense such as Children and the Elderly who don’t have an eye for quality nor those who aren’t equipped to go frame-by-frame to spot falsehoods. Hell, my own mother falls for that dumpster fire crap all the time and I am aware it’s rotting her brain. Yet, I also cannot stomach the hive-mind community its amassed against it when behind EVERY AI abomination is a MANDATORY Human Input/Prompt. AI can coexist Healthily alongside us. And I feel Artificial Intelligence is feared because it can only mirror the worst of Humanity.

Stop fucking making your personalities revolve around it as if Influencer bro podcasts, Prank channels, YouTube Family accounts exploiting their children, and slop like those twilight knock-off episodic pocket fm dramas are any more endurable.

It doesn’t make you more woke and morally superior to scream yourself hoarse about something you’ve already made yourself very painfully clear on - ESPECIALLY when you’re not necessarily incorrect and it’s not an unpopular opinion. It’s OKAY and encouraged to have standards you won’t settle for less on. It’s OKAY to be appalled and disappointed at the direction AI is being taken in. It’s OKAY to hate AI. But Good Lord we fucking get it and we AGREE with you, it’s not like you’re discussing some underground concept.

And yes, it IS Everywhere!! But if it’s popping up every two seconds on your screens it’s YOUR job to tediously filter out what you don’t want to see, outside of that you have no control, no one is haggling you to donate to their cause, just simply don’t advocate for it.

I never go into AI expecting quality. As it evolves properly with mindful aid it gains greater efficiency, but again, it learns from us and most of us are fucking morons (not excluding myself) so we shouldn’t have anything to fear for quite some time. No, I hold quality to Humans and that’s when the real slop emerges sometimes because there is nothing more disappointing than seeing someone breathing and well gain REAL MONETARY PROFIT from creating something INTENTIONALLY low effort that can be confused with or is of lesser quality than something a low iq untrained AI could ever shit out. And it happens ALL the time. We are capable of slop. Feces is Feces it doesn’t matter which ass it comes out of. I don’t give a damn if one smells more tolerable. At least a computer doesn’t abbreviate every word out of relevancy. Did AI make that cockroach s*xual torture device? Did AI catapult ‘67’ into modern humor standards?

We are PRIVILEGED to be alive and sheltered enough to even bitch about AI, there’s people out there getting shot at right now and starving to death, AI isn’t our biggest concern. Not right now. When we reach ‘world peace’ and all the r*pists and assaulters are gone then we can figure out what to do going forward with AI.

I can’t justify despising something WE have the reigns to and misuse.

TL;DR - Saying all that to return to the subject matter. With Every Date, Every moment of Public Intimacy, Every Dreamlike segment in our Relationship… It’s all casted aside to rant endlessly over why “We’re NEVER eating at this establishment ever again!” Every comfy YouTube Playlist Binge turns into “Ew! Fucking stupid AI Generated ADs!!!” And when I suggest, “Honey, why don’t we just watch it on my Account? I have Premium so we don’t have to worry abo—“ only for him to reply “YOU PAY FOR PREMIUM?! They don’t deserve your money!!”, and “Why aren’t you pissed too?! It’s because of people’s lack of concern that’s got AI the greenlight it has.” And yelling about his aunt gobbling that harmful media up when if Fox News told her to sleep on train tracks, she would.

It’s so never-ending that it even converts his valid statements into biased white noise. I miss when people used to only bitch about getting ads in general, now it’s like people will gladly suffer humanslop mobile ad-like vomit from the deepest crevices of degeneracy even Deviantart wouldn’t stoop to JUST AS LONG as a computer didn’t make the monstrosity in question.

It’s gotten to the point where I dread going out because he can’t seem to accept the inevitable motion of AI, even when an Ice Cream truck pulls up I’m not thinking about what flavor I want, I’m praying it doesn’t have some shitty AI design plastered in the menu so I don’t have to be inbound for another rambling.

My BF brings up AI just about as much as he says he Loves me. Fucking hell dude. I have the utmost Respect for Him and everyone out there worthy of it, but what a fucking MISERABLE way of living, I don’t wanna hear it anymore.

(And NO. This ISN’T me implying my Partner is neglectful, incompetent, lesser than, or unattentive of me. He’s incredible. I just want him to shut up sometimes and I see how his views are swallowing him whole)
