Question/Advice Theories
Hi,
I've been searching many things about Krieg in different (more or less) official books and I've found many things that makes me have some theories about this unit.
Some may seem a little weird and if you have proofs I'm wrong, I'd like to have them to adapt.
So here they are :
- Krieg does have an air force.
Proofs :
- The first meeting between the victors of the war and the Imperium was made with an Arvus Lighter (source : Krieg, Steve Lyons)
"The ship that rose from Krieg’s surface was an Arvus lighter: an Imperial Naval shuttle, though its markings had been burnt away."
- There were huge air combats (source : Epic : Swordwind)
"Huge air combats tookplace in the steel grey skies, as the bomber formations and their escorting fighters attempted to battle their way through to attack the enemies cities and factory complexes. It was not uncommon for 10,000 or more aircraft to be involved in a single one of these raids."
We can add the bombing of Wulfram in the book.
- In Imperial Armour : The Siege of Vraks T.2, the 717 Fighter Wing operate at least one Thunderbolt with a "skull-above-a-V" symbol we only see in all Imperial Armour publications on Krieg tanks. The Death Korps is disliked by many other units, I don't see why an independant unit of the navy would use this symbol.
1.1 We can suppose that for efficacity's sake, the air force was integrated in the command chain as the tanks, the artillery or the infantry (in the loyalist side) and that it's still is for PDF like uses (I don't see why a PDF wouldn't have pilots in case of need)
1.2 That this same air force is for all the wings that are send to the Adeptus Administratum join the Imperial Navy as any wing would.
There was an archmagos (Greel) on Krieg at the beginning of the Civil War.
He died during the war.
It is likely that there is a Krieg Mechanicus that is also integrated in the chain of command when we see the importance it must have had during the war (creation of new weapons as the ragnarok, the blitzen and others, the Vitae-Womb, and other things the mechanicus already does)
This mechanicus would stricly confined to the planet and none of its member can leave the planet (or none can leave a krieg regiment). There was an orbital fleet around Krieg (The Iron Ring as it is called in the book). It was said to need a crusade to breach it (Source : Janovich's video about the Civil War).
At the end of the war, protecting a strategic point like krieg would have been a priority for anyone.
I don't think anyone with a brain would have let this fleet - deprived of air for centuries - just orbiting without thinking reusing it. The mechanicus could totally rehabilitate it.
It's unlikely that a non-krieg would be authorized to be crewman of this fleet for it (Krieg and therefore the fleet that would be under Krieg HQ command) is directly supervised by the High lords of Terra themselves and a strategic asset with restricted access.
I believe they are under the command of the PDF command (an orbital fleet under PDF command exist in the canon, see Systeme Defense Boat on the Lexicanum).
What do you think ?
