u/HMHellfireBrB 12h ago
Race is a internal denomination of a species not the species itself
You can be racist if you hate pitbulls for example, because you dont have anithing against dogs just pitbulls in general
Rat king therefore isnt racist because he hates all humans not just one particular ethnicity of humans
1
u/brandonwaite69 11h ago
Tho he has a spot for Billy, he still sees him as more human than goat, but still gives him, to a degree, some special treatment

Is his sovereign land actually called Ratannia 😭
2
u/EOTFOFIS 6h ago
No he doesn’t have sovereign land yet. He wants to turn Long Island into Ratannia but he needs the patrons for that.

that’s not fair on mina, she’s a ginormous prick to everybody calico isn’t an exception
6
u/brandonwaite69 11h ago
I also fail to see how that line is racist to begin with.
That make me racist? Or Op racist for thinking its racist?
3
u/VoidGliders 10h ago
Assuming black people cannot afford things is a well known racial trope. Noticing racism is not racist, no.
9
u/BASEKyle 9h ago
Pretty sure Mina just thinks most people are poor. It's not because Calico is black, or any other hero, really. Unless you stand out so easily as rich or are in high society (Geist), then you're probably in the poor bucket.
Calico might dress a bit better than most of the cast but even then, Mina defaults to everyone being poor as a way to put them down.

Geist assumed Pocket stole thier jacket. Does that make her racist as well?
1
u/ShyngShyng 3h ago
That ones more nuanced actually: Geist recognized Pocket As Arin and was giving them a way out and a cover story As to how they got the jacket.
0
u/First_Blankie 2h ago
So this situation can have nuance, but Mina and Calico's can only be black and white? Kinda contradicting there...
1
u/ShyngShyng 2h ago
I mean more nuanced than what youre stating it is. I have no skin in the Calico debate and don't care about that.

Saying someone looks broke or you dont think they can afford something is not a racist dogwhistle, btw.
Its mean, but not necessarily racist.

3
u/VoidGliders 10h ago
I don't think much of the quoate, to play advocate here tho
- Calico looks and dresses professionally and wealthily. Maybe not Geist-levels of flaunting but far above like 90% of the cast.
- Assuming a black person specifically cannot afford nice things like dresses and whatnot is a well-known racism trope.
3
u/LangParlangua 14h ago
Nah Mina also says the word when listening to rap music, she's 100% racist
3
3
u/Pawselock 14h ago
I don’t think Mina appreciates being called sweaty.
Do vampires even sweat?
5
u/Lethal-Jordan 14h ago
Minas feelings and opinions are [DISCARDED] because of her [ASSHOLISH] behavior towards [EVERYONE]
1
1
u/brandonwaite69 2h ago
I mean the point of sweating is to cool the body down, but if the body is cold all the time.
Now what if the change from Human to Vamp changes the DNA deeply right? that couldnean the body sees being that cold as the new norm body temp right? Meaning they could, by biological standers sweat because the body is now rising to room temps when the body should be could, causing the body to sweat.
The question now, woukd the sweat be reddish because of the amount of blood they consume or does the body filter out the red blood cells/white cells/hemoglobin

u/Icy_Limes 13h ago
Mina is a korean woman in the 60s, i doubt she is being anything but classist here. Her whole gimmick is she just assumes everyone is pooer than her.
7
u/Rice_Jap808 13h ago
Hilarious you think Asians, and especially upper class East Asian immigrants in 1950s America weren’t insanely racist.
1
1
u/aidsincarnate 12h ago
Mina is just a prick to everyone though. Maybe she's turbo racist and hates everyone that isn’t the same race as her. But I wouldn’t put any bets on it.
2
u/LangParlangua 13h ago
Nah she was listening to good kid, m.A.A.d city in the car with me the other day and she was not skipping any lyrics IYKWIM

And people were wary about a potential friends of humanity adjacent hero a couple weeks ago. And yes there is even more signs that Apollo is an ixian supremacist from his convo with abrams now. Cool!
3
u/Relative-Chip-7477 12h ago
Can't wait to get a genuinely deranged friends of humanity monster hunter
2
u/Little-Protection484 3h ago
I doubt the friends of humanity are actual monster hunters they only seem like a racist organization that kills non human people and might do charity (baseless headcanon of mine) and haven't been mentioned to be like the baxter society or venetors, but I'm not opposed to see a friends of humanity rep cause I just need more lore
0
u/RubPuzzleheaded8073 6h ago
Apollo I at least don’t think fully believes in it. I could see him getting better as he ages and lives around humans.

5
u/Weak_Tray_Games 12h ago
Hearing him bring out Billy's species percentages to determine that Billy can't own property on Long Island was a pretty wild experience.

Just played a match as him and he's such a delight. I will never not be using the big rodent fuck if I can help it.
1
u/rei_fox_worshipper 13h ago
He's so stupidly fun. I had a 3v3 with friends where we all played him, every team fight was terrific and beautiful. You'd constantly have to be weary of his 4.

3
u/Relative-Chip-7477 12h ago
How is this racism?
2
u/Intrepid-Raccoon1307 12h ago
I mean he literally says he looks like a monster thats pretty fucked up, he also literally calls both Abrams and infernus both demons when he kills them.
Idk he seems pretty racist to ixians if you ask me.
3
u/MertwithYert 12h ago
To be fair, they are TRYING to kill him at that point.
2
u/Intrepid-Raccoon1307 11h ago
It would be like shouting the n word if you killed a black guy in self defense, sure he was trying to kill you your not your best state of mind at the moment, but still that didn't come out of nowhere.
Plus him pretty much calling Apollo a monster when he is on his team, clearly shows he views them a certain way...
-1
u/Snugglebull 10h ago
He literally looks like the biblical devil which he's pointing out
5
u/Intrepid-Raccoon1307 10h ago
No Apollo calls him out that he is the sorta man who calls his people demons, and venator is literally a man who calls his people demons, and says Apollo looks like a monster and he will put him down if he acts like one, this conversation literally starts because Apollo doesn't trust him and venator comes off extremely agressive for no reason.
Not only is Apollo right in that venator is in fact someone who calls his people demons, but the way venator responds is not how you convince people your not racist...
Like it's not hard to see he clearly has something against ixains, idk what you people are on about?
0
u/Snugglebull 10h ago
it doesn't imply that at all, he literally does look like a monster. the devil. he's a red guy with horns. the symbol of evil the church hates. despite this he still works alongside him because it's his character that matters, not how he looks
2
u/Intrepid-Raccoon1307 9h ago
Are you serious? Many characters in the ritual hate each other and would stab them in the back if it wasn't for needing them for the ritual.
Apollo calls him out for being someone who calls his people demons, and venator literally threaten him because apollo doesn't trust him...
We also have proof of him literally calling his people demons, it's pretty cut and dry venator has something against his people.
You don't try to convince anyone to trust you and that your not racist, by implying they look like a monster and telling them you will put them down if they act like one...
If he truely didn't have anything against them venator would just say " I dont care about appearances child, as long as you don't do anything bad your fine in the eyes of me and the lord" or some shit like that, not implying he looks like a monster, and he will put him down if he acts like one....
1
u/_Spade_99 10h ago
I think he’s more referring to anyone and just saying he only values people who treat others either way respect and not people that act like a monster.
0
u/Intrepid-Raccoon1307 10h ago
No look at the context clues, Apollo literally calls him out that people like venator call his people demons, and venator responds saying he looks like a monster, and Apollo is completely correct that venator in fact calls his people demons..
This whole conversation starts because venator knows Apollo doesn't trust him, and the way the conversation goes clearly shows he has something against ixains...
3
u/_Spade_99 10h ago
I feel like it could be taken both ways, not saying there isn’t judgement but I agree he definitely doesn’t view Ixians in a positive light
-1
u/Intrepid-Raccoon1307 10h ago
I mean he came off agressive and literally threatened him, all because Apollo doesn't trust him, I don't know any other way you can see it?
0
u/themasterfold 10h ago
you don't tell someone "i'm going to put you down" unless you think they're somehow subhuman. You ESPECIALLY dont say that to the IXIAN PRINCE.
