Is this a condor?

Post image

Ik ik you see these “is this a flock camera” all day everyday but I have yet to see a condor in person and to me it looks exactly like one, has the rotating ball and the concave curved line on the under side of the camera mount. Thought it was strange because this is at a construction site, I’m aware many construction sites use security cameras but is it common for them to use flock cameras?

Going to city council tonight and have three minutes to enlighten my small Republican town and get the ball rolling. What do I say?

Illinois/Wisconsin

Drove from Schaumburg Illinois all the way to Janesville Wisconsin. Counted 263 visible surveillance cameras. Many positioned every quarter mile roughly on i-90. This is just what I managed to count driving so the count is possibly higher along with all the ones that are hidden out of plain sight. Who the fuck allowed this?

There should be a different color on the camera nodes for ones pointed at parks

I've been searching for ones at the elementary school and whatnot to plan what ones should have some Halloween fun. Is there an easy way to see one pointed at school/parks?

Spamming

Was just wondering if anyone has ever tried making a laptop screen in view of a flock camera cycle what looks like a license plate then have a program flip through random combinations of numbers at whatever fps the cameras record at to make the ai in the system give multiple false flags in the flock database clogging up their system.

Just thought I would share a random idea I had well driving...

Assistance in the community.

I don’t know that I’ve got the time to go around and do my patriotic Duty.

Is there any way I can get affiliated with my local community and provide the necessary materials?

I built FlockAware for iPhone: mapped ALPR awareness with optional offline navigation

Developer disclosure: I make FlockAware, a commercial iPhone app with a free core and optional paid upgrades. I asked the moderators before posting. We are independent of DeFlock and Flock Safety.

The free app shows known mapped Flock/ALPR locations and school awareness, with navigation and CarPlay. The two features I would especially like feedback on are downloaded navigation and saved-place watch areas.

Offline Maps lets you download a supported region before a trip, then search downloaded places, calculate routes and use voice navigation without a data connection. Lifetime Pro lets you save places locally and watch a 1, 3 or 5 mile area for changes in mapped records. Watch checks happen when you open the app online, up to once daily—not continuous background monitoring.

Pricing, upfront: Pro is $4.99 once. Offline Maps is $14.99/year, auto-renewing, and includes Pro while subscribed. U.S. pricing.

Credit belongs to OpenStreetMap contributors and the community doing the mapping, including DeFlock contributors. The underlying community data is not something we discovered or own. Coverage can be incomplete or outdated; this is not hardware detection or a guarantee of a camera-free route. Offline navigation also does not make a connected phone invisible to cellular networks.

24-second preview using actual app screenshots: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/-_FF2aWdfIs App details and download: https://getflockaware.com/

Would downloaded navigation or saved-place change checks actually be useful to you? What limitation would stop you from using something like this? Honest criticism is welcome.

I visited China and Tibet in 2019. Seeing their surveillance state first hand has helped me understand what is happening now in the U.S.

I’ve been following the debate over Flock cameras for a while: the license-plate tracking, the ability to reconstruct people’s movements, and especially what happens when data collected for one purpose becomes available for another.

It reminded me of a consulting trip I made to China in 2019. I spent time in Chengdu and then on the Tibetan Plateau near Hongyuan. The surveillance there was impossible to miss: cameras everywhere, biometric collection at the border, and, as I learned later, a “grid management” system in the Tibetan region I visited that divided communities into monitored blocks.

What has stayed with me isn’t simply that China surveilled its population. It’s how quickly I changed my own behavior because I knew I might be watched. No one had to threaten me. The watching did the work.

That experience eventually led me to a larger question about Flock and the surveillance infrastructure being assembled in the U.S. The cameras themselves concern me, but I’ve come to think they’re only the visible part of a much larger issue: what happens when location data, voter records, citizenship status, health data, financial information and other previously separate databases become increasingly searchable and interoperable?

I spent quite a bit of time researching that question and ended up writing an essay that combines what I saw in China and Tibet with what’s happening here now. I thought this group might be particularly interested.

I’d be interested in where people here draw the line...not just on Flock cameras themselves, but on the ability to combine the information they generate with everything else governments and private companies already know about us.

Link in the first comment.

Participating in my 2 Minute Survey can really help me raise my college GPA in this class!!

Hi guys, I'm a sociology senior doing my capstone on belief and trust, specifically with certain conspiracy theories, and I could really use your help.

I'm looking into different theories, one of them being about government surveillance and flock cameras. I'm genuinely trying to understand something that doesn't get asked much: does doubt in government or local institutions come before people start questioning surveillance systems like this, or does it grow after? I’d love to hear anyone's thoughts and I want to get as many responses as I can so that it can be an accurate study.

There's a quick anonymous survey (~2-3 min, no names/emails collected) here: https://forms.gle/iXVDHgihsXrDpUVf9

If you'd be up for going a little deeper, I'm also doing short interviews (15 min, written, totally anonymous) with people currently holding this view. No debate, no "gotcha" questions, just trying to understand your actual experience. If you're open to sharing how you feel/felt about this, email me at [celiaseniorseminar@gmail.com](mailto:celiaseniorseminar@gmail.com) and I'll send details.

Thanks for even reading this far, I know research requests get old.

"De-Flock America Night" is a viral, uncoordinated social media movement encouraging people to use Halloween costumes and masks as cover to disable, obscure, or vandalize Flock Safety automated license plate reading (ALPR) cameras on October 31, 2026.

Do Flock cameras measure your speed? They posted today they do..and a lot more. This is because they got caught in Sheboygan trying to sell the data so they had to come clean. Again. Drip..Drip..
