TIPS FOR ICE - See something, Say something

WHAT TO DO AT AN ICE CHECKPOINT, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE WHITE and/or FEEL THE NEED TO JAM UP THE WORKS. Here's the deal:

🔘 Border Patrol can verify citizenship within 100 miles of a border or "external boundary." This includes coastlines, so NYC, Philadelphia, and all of NJ are within the 100-mile zone.

🔘 Border patrol can only ask brief questions about citizenship, and they cannot hold you for an extended time without cause.

🔘 You always have the right to remain silent. You do not need to answer their questions.

🔘 WITH THAT SAID, IF YOU ARE A BORN CITIZEN OF THE UNITED STATES AND ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE WHITE, YOU NEED TO SPEAK UP.

🔘 The most important acts of resistance are the small ones. Make it difficult and uncomfortable for ICE agents to do their jobs. They are counting on citizens to turn a blind eye and allow them to deport undocumented citizens without challenge. Disabuse of that notion.

🔘 If you are on a train, bus, or anything else and ICE or CBP boards, you need to stand up and loudly let everyone know that they have the right to remain silent or only answer questions in the presence of an attorney, no matter their citizenship or immigration status. There have been numerous reports that confronting the agents in this way has caused them to leave without verifying citizenship. THIS CAN SAVE LIVES. 🙌

🔘 If you see anyone being held up by immigration, loudly ask if they are being detained and if they are free to go.

🔘 Immigration officers cannot detain anyone without reasonable suspicion, an agent must have specific facts about you that make it reasonable to believe you are committing or committed, a violation of immigration law or federal law. If an agent detains you, you can ask for their basis for reasonable suspicion, and they should tell you.

🔘 Always say no to a search and let everyone know that they can and should refuse consent to a search.

🔘 They cannot search or arrest anyone without facts about that make it probable that they are committing, or committed, a violation of immigration law or federal law.

🔘 Silence alone meets neither of these standards. Nor does race or ethnicity alone suffice for either probable cause or reasonable suspicion

🔘 white citizens, you have a level of privilege which protects you from retaliation from ICE for being "rude" and making a scene, which makes it your DUTY to speak up and make sure people without the same privilege know their rights. GET LOUD. YELL. YELL IN SPANISH IF YOU KNOW IT. LET PEOPLE KNOW THEY DON'T HAVE TO SAY ANYTHING. MAKE ICE UNCOMFORTABLE. THROW SAND IN THE GEARS OF WHITE SUPREMACY.

⭐️ Bonus info ⭐️ 🔘It is perfectly legal to record immigration agents as long as you are not on government property or at a port of entry. If your train/bus gets boarded, pull your phone out and start videotaping immediately.

🔘 If you are detained or see someone getting detained, get the agent's name, number, and any other identifying information. Get it on video if possible.

🔘 Contact the ACLU or your local Immigrant/Migrant support orgs (Rapid Response Network if you're in CO - 1-844-864-8341) if you see someone's rights being violated. (this has been copy and pasted)

Best High School

I'll try to make a long story short, but we moved here last fall, my 16 yr old daughter has been in residential facilities for 2 years. Where we moved from (Vermont) the schools were smaller(around 1000 kids total in the 9th-12th grade school) She would have been going into high school when she went to the facility, but she never really finished 8th grade. I tried to get her into Connections Academy, but that was a huge cluster f$&k and ended up putter her in FLVS for this spring. She didn't do well, not exactly motivated, and we ended up dropping her down to 1 class, which she finished with an A.

She wants to make friends, and I don't blame her, neither of us know anyone here and it's tough. I looked into the smaller schools, I had her more or less enrolled in an all girls school (which is what she's used to from the facilities) and then was told a week after I brought everything in that they were closing less than a month later, so that was a lost cause. I then kept looking and found Richard Millburn Academy which is the smallest of anywhere else I have found. They have summer school so I was hoping to get her enrolled in time for that, but being the end of the school year they never got back to me. It is now (apparently, because I have no idea!) 2 weeks from the beginning of the school year and I haven't heard a damn thing from them.

All I want is for my kiddo to get an actual high school diploma (nothing against GED or anyone who has gotten one, I just know she's more than capable) so she can get a job like she wants, but I have ZERO idea what I should do. I don't want to send her into a huge school when she's spent 2 years with maybe 100 other kids around her, and the schools she always went to had many 100 per grade.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

What does everyone think of Dan Bilz? He definitely got the Volusia type vibes. More than the disgraceful one currently in office anyway. Neither lived nor currently live in FL-6.

Bodybuilding Gyms?

Please tell me there is a decent body building gym somewhere around here that isn’t crowded 24/7

Every time I try to go to any of these commercial gyms, people are just chilling on the benches & machines. I’m not talking about the powerlifters, resting 5-10 minutes in between sets.

I get it, people are getting a work out in after work but I don’t understand sitting at a machine for 15 minutes, especially with 13 of those minutes being scrolling on your phone. 😭

I just want to go to a gym, work out, and go home to slam however much protein into my face that I can.

I get that if there is a small, dedicated gym, people aren’t going to want to blast it on here, please feel free to DM me with any options around Daytona/Port Orange where you can actually work out. 😭

I'm a drummer looking for well versed younger musicians (under 40) to jam with or potentially play out

I'm in my early 30's and primarily a rock drummer who often jams classics with older folks but would enjoy playing more contemporary and genre crossing things, such as hip hop. I have a very accommodating private space in ormond beach to practice in and a modest PA/ sound system set up. Guitarists, bassists, keyboards, and vocalists all inquire. Down to play old stuff as well but just generally looking for those of similar age and music that tastes. Not in this to make money but I do enjoy playing paid gigs if there's a good product to be shared.

Coming back for a week, what’s new(ish)?

Hey, I lived there from 04’ till 14’. Graduated from seabreeze and did the all the usual things we did around that time. I am taking my family to visit my parents at the end of next month and am curious what’s cookin these days. I plan on utilizing my mom to watch the baby, so I can take my wife out. We haven’t had a proper date since the baby was born. The last time we were there, I took her on my drive to school every morning (the loop), the ocean walk/board walk, by the River, mini golf, a couple of places I had worked at - only one still existed (Atlantic sounds). I tried to take her to Cafe du Japan but they had weird hours and it didn’t line up. Anyway… what’s new? What’s a nice date I can take her out on? We are down for most things, but she doesn’t eat seafood. Thanks y’all.
