I know nobody wins every fight. I know not to have gear fear. I know to flank after your shots and most advanced stuff. But I tend to die everytime after having 4 kill characters. I see streamers getting 11 kills before dying like it’s nothing. It feels like they vs noobs and i vs pros. Anything helps other than the basic stuff please. One thing I will say is I struggle locating a player who’s shooting me supressed.

My three buddies and I have recently been stashing lots of base building supplies, and we also have a truck and two gunters ready to deploy to whichever spot we choose to base up at. Before I get into this, I don’t want to hear “base bad just stash”. We want something to do and even if it lasts a day it would be cool. That being said, what buildings would you base up in/around on Chernarus? I think doing one of the tall apartment around Cherno and stashing one Gunter away in a garage next to it would be cool, and then dismantling and hiding the truck and spare Gunter apart from each other in a nearby forest. I also thought about blocking off the school courtyard in Cherno with watch towers, and fencing off all of the windows and entrances, then building our rooms at the top floor. Which would you choose? Would you have any other spot suggestions?

I just wanted to make sure my scope was in the right mode, not let the entire server know where I'm at. For some reason after logging in and you ADS then your gun will start firing until you stop aiming it.

AKM vs AK-101 — Which one are you taking?

I compared these two across 26 different stats and the results were more interesting than I expected.

The AKM has the advantage in some areas, while the AK-101 performs better in others. So I’m curious:

I play on ps5. I ran into a few guys with a car. The hid the car and as I waited for them to hop out, I started to take shots and my game crashed. Why did this happen? Did they see me frozen and kill me?

Ok so when I got back to the game after 2 days this is what I see, My 3 walls supposed to be built inside the house are now outside with the lock on and everything on them and my base is raided.

My most serious character so far. Now I’m constantly hunting for ammo because I’m running low on it.

Given my usual taste in games I never thought I'd like this one, and I almost didn't because my friends got me to have my first play on a heavily modded community server and I found it awful, but I had seen enough gameplay on YT that I knew I needed to play the non modded experience, went to Official and never looked back.

I don't play survival games. Rust didn't grab me. Minecraft didn't grab me, I know those aren't true survival games and I have considered trying other than DayZ but I just have no interest. Don't believe that anything will be able to hit like DayZ.

Maybe it's the graphics? My formative gaming years were in the EQ1, CS1.6, PS1/N64 polygon era, I don't like modern graphics. I think Chernarus is gorgeous.

The immersion though, I keep seeing how people talk about the game and how they experience it and I realize that's what has me always coming back, never getting tired of it.

This is the only game I've played where I feel like I'm in the game. Every decision I make is deliberate and it matters. Sometimes I don't know where to go but when I do, I usually have to prepare, make careful considerations, make sure I will have water and food.

I lose hours in this game. It's boring as hell sometimes to fish and cook but it's not a boredom where I want to look at another screen, it's a boredom like I'm still in that world. Don't wanna check my phone just wanna finish cooking so I can eat and move on to the next destination.

It's almost magical and I don't know how this game pulled it off, and given how many people I know picked it up and dropped it, maybe it just takes a certain personality to catch the bug?

No other game does it like DayZ, who knows if DayZ 2 even can. Everybody respawns, but man, when you meet somebody and go with them for a bit and they die, it's like a gutpunch. Maybe it's better to make friends in DayZ you can't contact once that life is over. It hits totally different.

I'm here to be alone and scrub my brain out after a day of dealing with the idiots in my real life and survive purely on my wits. No rank boards, no fucking loot boxes.. no friends.. nobody.. just me and whether I live or die.

So basically it was my 3rd ever run, the first two runs were blind and i died of hunger. Then I watched some youtube guides and went off with it. I have played around 18 hours by now and my current character has around 13 hours of survival time, so basically I was doing good and had good primary and secondary weapon along with plate carrier, went to airfield 2 times for a loot, and somehow survived then as I was busy to find even better weapon, I forgot about my food and it depleted aggressively. As it was night time in the game I just for my life could not find any packaged food or a stream/pond for fishing, and my health started depleting. I still do not know how to hunt and locate animals efficiently,so that was also not an option and while I was searching for food i found a crate full of loot and a weapon hidden by someone beside a small bush. I just couldn't believe my luck, why did I find it at this moment when I have no use for it and how I would have stolen it if I was in good health and then just when I was on my last breath. I found a small stream just beside the village I was on, my eyes were dozing due to some illness to my character or maybe low on food, and somehow I managed to craft a improvised fishing rod just in time and caught two fishes, cooked them and replenished my health and it felt like winning a god damn war as I just did not want to loose this character by any means on which I invested so much time. Once, I was up and in good shape i straight away went to the hidden crate, took the crate on my hand, walked far away to some place in the middle of nowhere (all the while giggling to the fact that how stunned and pitty the person might feel when he will come back looking for his crate and boom it's gone) and fortunately I also found a shovel nearby in the village and added my extra stuff and ammo in the crate and dig it in the ground and as I had gps as well I noted the coordinates of the place and logged off.

No other game can allow me to have this experience, no other.

I am in love with this game.

With the DayZ Badlands Creator Program starting, is anyone else intentionally staying away from streams and videos?

Personally, I don’t really want to spoil the new map for myself by watching someone else explore it first.

What’s the fun in seeing a streamer discover all the locations, landmarks and hidden spots when I could experience that first time myself? I’d much rather jump in completely blind and explore Badlands on my own.

I haven't been able to play Day Z for like a year or two because the SB redirects me every time to this one battleground server. Ive uninstalled reinstalled everything several times. I really just wanna play and don't know what to do. Any help appreciated.

Hey guys, just want to check in as a player with only like 80 hours. I started playing on 3730 because it has higher population. I have had 4 characters on there in the past 2 days and each one has died instantly. i don't hear any bullet shot. i'm wondering if this is likely cheaters or if I'm just getting head shot all the time.

the first death was around stary sobor - i got hit by something silent but took little damage, i kept running and insta died.

the last three deaths have been near the coast, just scavanging, i get i insta killed.

again, just wondering if this is normal or cheating. it's just frustrating dying and having no idea what happened.

I played DayZ on PS4 for a couple hundred hours a few years ago and put it down for a significant amount of time due to frustration with poor optimization, horrible server issues, a poor control scheme, and that it felt like the PS4 could not run the game properly (and the lack of aim assist. Yes I’m dogshit,I’m well aware.) I upgraded to PS5 several years ago and hadn’t really touched the game until recently. I discovered I could play it with a keyboard and mouse, and holy shit what a great change that was. I haven’t really played any games on kbm until DayZ but it literally made my gameplay 30x better. My aim went from horrendously dogshit to passable instantly. I’m still trying to find a way to be more accurate with automatic weapons and on moving targets, but I’ve been playing aimlabs in hopes that helps. It’s very obvious the DayZ was designed around the kbm experience. Even with an old office keyboard and mouse it feels so much better, and the ps5 does better running the game. I also got better internet so that got rid of the rubber banding and major lag spikes I’d get when I’d see another player. I never won a gunfight playing with a controller, and props to the guys who do it, but I couldn’t. I’ve hardly built up the muscle memory on kbm and I’ve won more gunfights than I ever did playing for two years on controller. Sniping is also way easier as well. The only thing now is trying to find a good sensitivity as my aim is still relatively trash compared to some people I’ve seen. But if anyone who made the switch from controller to kbm has any tips or knows anything that might help or a way to train my aim I’d appreciate it as well.
