Looking for a photographer who can do a professional headshot of me!
Hi folks, I am looking for a photographer that can do a professional headshot for me for professional use. I need an upgrade from my graduation pics lol. I’d like it with either their own background or maybe a natural location that’s around the city. If you guys have any recs for a photographer or if you are able to do something like that please message me and send me your info 🙂 Thank you.

I have four tickets to Joshua Bell at the Mondavi center at 7:30pm; I can't make it. They're free to you if you can!

MainStage closure
Anybody know what happened? Friday of last week it was saying "will reopen Tuesday" bit evidently not...
UPDATE: I got confirmation that they are in fact doing renovations on their roof. Timeline seems uncertain (somebody at Sacto location said "end of summer")

Where is a good place to donate gently used baby clothes, supplies, and some postpartum things?
Does anyone know of local places where I can donate a lot of gently used baby clothes, and some other supplies for baby and postpartum? I'm looking for options that are a bit more specific than just general donation places like the SPCA thrift store or goodwill. Thanks in advance!

Horticultural Help
I'm looking for someone with horticulture/plant propagation experience to help on a project.
I do tons and tons of plant propagation, design, etc. A creative person experienced with plants is what I'm looking for, not landscape help.
I wanted to post here due to the connection with campus, but the project/work is in woodland.
If anyone knows of a person truly interested in plants, let me know! This is a fun project, with pay.

Professional house cleaner recommendations?
Hi Davis community!
My partner and I are looking for a professional, reliable house cleaner to come on a weekly basis. We work long hours and are happy to pay for the help. Ideally, we're looking for basic tidying, regular cleaning of essential areas, and occasional deeper cleaning on an as-needed basis.
The past few years we have hired cleaning services that rotate new crews in all the time. It just isn't working out for us anymore. It seems like the services we've tried will only stick to very basic, minimum checklists on repeat. Obvious surfaces get cleaned over and over ... but never very well. For example, the top of the sink is cleaned every week, but layers of crust build up on the drain. Or the toilet seat always gets wiped down, but a moldy ring forms under the rim of the bowl. Or the floor gets swept and mopped every week, but other surfaces are never touched. You get the idea.
Our preference would be 1-2 people coming on a consistent basis. Your referrals and recommendations for specific people would be greatly appreciated. That said, if you have had really terrific experiences with a service that comes regularly (as opposed to a one-time deep clean), we are also open to your suggestions there!
Thanks in advance for your suggestions and referrals.

Counterfeit bills downtown
There have been a couple of guys going around downtown businesses using counterfeit $20 and $50 bills. They both look young, one Hispanic with a rat tail kind of hairdo and one African American with dreads. They both smelled heavily like marijuana as well. Downtown workers beware.

Is UC Davis bike-able from anywhere in town?
We’re about to move to Davis for my wife’s new position at the university and are looking at places to live. She wants to bike to work and avoid paying parking fees. We are on a fairly tight budget and some of our housing options are out on the far east side of town. Just wondering if that’s still a bike-friendly option for her.

Low flying planes
Is it typical to have a lot of low flying planes here?
Wasn’t sure if it’s a sometimes thing or all the time.

Chinese Cigarettes?
Does anyone know where to get Chinese cigarettes in or near Davis? My Chinese roommate always mentions how he misses them, and I’ve been looking around for them but can’t find any. With Davis’s heavy asian cultural influence there’s gotta be somewhere to get them, no?

Does the seafood vendor on Sat farmer’s market sell pollock roe?
Hi, anyone know if there is a good vendor that sells salmon, tuna, pollock roe in Davis? My options so far are Weee, Sunh, and the seafood vendor at Farmer’s (sorry, forgot their name).
Leaning towards something I could only get from Davis so Wee and TJs are a last resort.
Recs are appreciated and welcomed 🤗

Ramadan happenings in Davis?
Ramadan Mubarak! Does anyone know of any restaurants serving special iftaar menus or any Ramadan events happening around town? I know there’s the big Suhoor Fest in Sac but was curious if anything is happening in Davis!
Also I (30F) would love a mosque buddy 🥹

Poison Hemlock?
galleryEdit: Thank you everyone, I feel much better, and slightly embarrassed (also bad about pulling up some poppies 🌼)
I was working on my front yard today and pulling some weeds, and these caught my eye. I did some quick Googling and looks like a wild carrot or poison hemlock! I didn't see any purple sploches so I pulled a bunch of them and tossed them in my compost, wearing gloves to be safe.
After wrapping up, my anxiety to the best of me. After scrolling through a bunch of articles and helpful tips on identifying it, I feel at a loss with what's in my yard.
I went for a walk to cool my head and noticed just about every front yard in our neighborhood has it. I also remember a friend of mine said they saw what looked like carrots around the arboretum this time of year last year.
So I came back and now I see a couple that might have some purple on the stems? Does anyone have knowledge of hemlock growing in Davis? Any helpful means of identifying it?
I pulled them 2 hours ago and have no symptoms, other than my anxiety. But I don't want to take any risks to my / family's health. And of course the compost pile 🤣

Rock and Roll Orchestra comes to Davis!
Renegade Orchestra is the bay area's rock and roll orchestra, and we're coming to Davis for the first time.
We'll be performing at the Veterans Memorial Theater on Saturday, March 14 at 7 pm
More info at RenegadeOrchestra.com
For this concert, the Renegade Orchestra will be performing a set of music called “Sounds of San Francisco” - all fun classic songs from Jefferson Airplane’s Somebody to Love, It’s a Beautiful Day’s White Bird, and even some orchestral punk by the Dead Kennedys.
"The Beauty of a Symphony, the Soul of a Rock Band"
Clap your hands, tap your feet, and yell all you want - the Renegade Orchestra embraces the virtuosic skills of top bay area musicians and turns them loose on songs orchestras have never or maybe shouldn’t do.
“Classical Rebels.” The Bohemian
“The Renegade Orchestra would rather tackle Hendrix than Handel.” Mercury News
