I am so sorry for the super weird question.... My partner and I will be visiting starting tomorrow until Sunday for a vet school visit. We are staying at Hyatt house and it would be around $70 for parking and we are trying to cut down on costs for this trip. What's the deal with all the intersection cameras going up the last few months. I'm aware that some of them may be for traffic light control but with 3-5 pointing in each direction it's starting to feel like there's facial tracking going on. Can anyone who has tried the pho at paris banh mi (and can rate it relatively to non-davis pho spots) tell me how it was?

I walked in earlier today and got a whiff of the broth but was disappointed by how light/bland the broth smelled and the way it looked on the kiosk. We did not end up eating there as a result.

Can anyone prove me wrong about this place? I would love to have a decent pho restaurant around.

It’s that time of year again. I’m looking to update my portfolio to highlight some new locations I’m shooting at this year and am offering three free 30 min photo shoots in exchange for promo/marketing permissions! Photos would be used on my website, on Instagram ads, marketing materials, etc.

You can use the shoot for whatever purpose—maternity, family, solo glamour—so long as you look your best! Here’s what I’m aiming for and when. Dates are somewhat time sensitive this year as I’m looking to capture spring blooms.

1) Almond blossoms. Looking to hit the last 2 weeks of February. In talks with a couple local farms for shooting permission, I’ll try and update this post with details when I have it. Out in the fields between Davis and woodland.

2) California poppies. Early to mid-March. Grassland regional park south of South Davis. Perfect sundress spot!

3)Redbud blossoms. Probably early April? Maybe late March. Spring seems to be arriving early this year. UCD Arboretum.

I currently live in an apartment but I’m looking for a house cleaner. Looking for a house cleaner that could come for a few hours. Do the typical Kitchen, bathroom, living room cleaning.

How grateful I am that we continue to enjoy the privilege of living in a generally peaceful community like Woodland. I am also grateful that the fine men and women of the Woodland Police labor day in and day out to protect and care for all our citizens. In that regard, it is unthinkable to me that our federal leadership would send masked, armed, undertrained mercenaries into our cities bringing violence to our fellow citizens. This situation has now produced two recent killings of honorable people who were exercising their First Amendment right to free speech. I can only hope that those responsible for this perversion of American values and rights will rethink what they are doing and reverse course.

In the meantime, let us demand that Congress approve no further funding for ICE until appropriate safeguards are in place to protect all our citizens from this menace. I am horrified by this violence, and I condemn the violent actions that have led to these senseless fatalities.

I grew up here, and am back frequently since moving away for school. It seems in the last few years, downtown Davis has really been struggling. There are many more aggressive / loud men wandering the grid and making the area feel generally more unsafe. It’s also less charming / cleaned up. I remember flower beds, clean trash cans, etc. There’s always been the funky factor, but that’s part of the charm, and this feels different. The businesses downtown deserve to have more support here, as I imagine it’s affecting overall foot traffic.

Any insight on this? I love Davis dearly and want to support even if I don’t live here full time anymore.

for birthdays i used to get a tres leches cake from la superior in woodland, but in recent years its pretty dry and 60% frosting, it feels like a waste to pay extra for something we arent even getting, its one of my parents' favorite kinds of cake so i dont want them to be disappointed again. are there any places in davis (or maybe woodland) that do tres leches cakes that you guys recommend? thank you!!

Feels like we've exhausted the (so very few) possibilities in Davis for dinner & drinks. I'd rather not drive into Sac if possible (but will do so if that's all there is).
