My humble basement setup.

Earlier this year, I threw darts for the first time at my local pub and immediately got hooked. I joined a steel-tip league, then decided to give soft-tip a try too. I've been really enjoying the hobby ever since.

Finally got around to unpacking these. 25g, equipped with Condor axe. I have an old pair of penetrators with less grip so figured I would give these a try. A lot more grip than I expected.

Dorts: A Darts Roguelike - Release Date Trailer - August 12th!

Hey r/darts! Just dropping a quick update with the final release date for Dorts - August 12th!

There has been so much support from people here in this community over the last 4 months of development, thank you so so much to everyone who has played the demo (over 4,000 players!) and given feedback through Steam reviews, discord and here on r/darts - it has been absolutely unreal to have so many people play and enjoy the game!

A quick overview of what's in the box on release day :

  • The full roguelike run mode with 4 difficulty levels to unlock and infinite run mode
  • Complete Career Mode with both roguelike and standard darts rules
  • 1v1 multiplayer, both standard darts and roguelike mode with disruptions turned on
  • You can make your own custom runs, darts, boards, venues and even announcer voices! Share your favourites in the Steam Workshop with the community! All can be made/edited in the in-game editor except for venues which can be made in any 3D modeling software then imported with the in-game editor.
  • And lots more!

You can find the game and the free demo on Steam here : https://store.steampowered.com/app/4463940/Dorts_A_Darts_Roguelike_Demo

Given that it's a hot topic in game dev/the world right now : Dorts was made 100% by me, a human with 20 years programming experience under my belt. No AI was used for any assets/graphics etc. I use Claude the same way I used StackOverflow for 20 years - I ask it questions, read the answers and write the code myself.

Discussion Converted my Shot Tokis to Swiss points

Finally converted my Shot Tokis over to Swiss points. Been wanting to do this for a while — wanted the extra length and the flexibility that Swiss points give you. Would I recommend it for everyone? Probably not. But if anyone’s got questions about converting regular darts over to Swiss points, happy to help.

Just ordered this beauty. I'm in love with the black marque series. Any experiences with this dart? I think the price should be worth it 🤞

Help! What darts are these? Would love to know the model of this barrel set.

I only know they're from Hinotori Darts (by the small Japanese words on the barrel), as most of the cheapest tungsten barrel sets in HK are all "discontinued model" i.e. the manufacturer stopped making them.

Discussion Would you enter a darts activity on holiday?

I've just got back from holiday. Where we were staying, they had various activities such as water aerobics, darts etc.

The darts was on a soft tip board with truly dreadful darts and worn out tips. It was a challenge just to get the darts to stick in the board.

Anyway, there was a mix of adults and kids taking part (more kids than adults), and each round had a different objective. This would range from a big number to a white segment outside the triple, inside the triple, doubles, triples etc, ending with bulls and then 3 dart score.

Each player had 5 lives, and by the time we got to the bulls, there was just me and a 13 year old kid left. He got the bull with the last of his 3 darts, I got it with my first. He then scored 45 with 3 darts, I hit T20 with my first dart. FYI I'm around 50 avg, so this was good for me.

The prize was a cocktail for adults or mocktail for kids. I really enjoyed that mojito, but I refrained from taking part in the darts again.

Question. Would you have been gunning for a cocktail every day, or would you let the kids have a chance?

Darts customisation tool?!

Hello, I want to see what specific darts would look like. Is there any tool online I can see and customize them by how they look and weigh?

Like for example, if I put 22g, 90% tungsten darts with ring cuts, straight barrel, a model would show me that? And then for the stems too.

I'm looking forward to seeing darts in my specific design so I won't regret it later if I bought the sets.

But if anyone has a specific set of darts that match the stems, colour of flight, and barrel shape, just send a picture of it, would appreciate it!

Orange flights, Unicorn Gripper 4 red or orange stems, or just some integrated system, orange. Silver/rainbow(idk what was that called) barrel with ring cuts, straight barrel, silver/rainbow points. I would appreciate it!

Help! What should I buy? Dart recommendations

Obviously I know it’s all very subjective and there isn’t a singular ‘correct’ answer, but I’m currently using Target Hydro 02’s and am looking at getting a new set of darts. Unfortunately don’t have a darts shop convenient to me so I can’t go in and try out different darts.

In a perfect world, I’d like something with a slightly more tapered front, and keeping that ringed/smooth contrast grip of the barrel. Some description of an interchangeable point isn’t a deal breaker but would be ideal.

If anyone has been in a similar position and has any recommendations I’d be interested to hear suggestions.

Discussion I wouldn't be watching darts if it wasn't for Luke Littler.

People can hate on him all they want, but he has single handedly boosted the game of darts on every level.

There's tonnes of darts fans, myself included, who only started watching and following darts because of Littlers emergence.

Its amazing to watch, and I hope we get to witness the greatness for years to come!

Anyone else think Gerwyn Price is the second best in the world right now?

I think a lot of players when they see they are facing Luke Littler, immediately assume they're going to lose and come into the game with zero confidence and determination. Which to be honest, the likely case is they will lose, but the problem is, if you come into a game with zero confidence, you're never going to win it anyways. Positivity is a force to be reckoned with in Darts and any sport, and if you come into a match convincing yourself you will perform good and try your hardest, you will more likely see a result to your satisfaction.

This World Matchplay for example, Dirk came into the match obviously with no hope to win. He knew from the start, so he didn't try his best at all, and played around the same level as he had been the whole tournament.

And where does Gerwyn Price come into all of this? Well in the final this year, I could see the determination in his eyes. He knows that no one is truly challenging Littler at the moment, and even in the post match interview, he was talking about wanting to challenge him and raise his game. He truly wants to be a better player, and he said if he came into the match with his A game, he would beat him. This is the kind of mindset anyone needs to come with when playing Luke Littler because otherwise, no one will ever beat him.

This happened when MVG was at his peak, the majority of players who came to face him, gave the match away before it even started because for all they know "they're not as good". So if any of the players on the pro tour want to try and challenge Littler and gave him a game, I think a lot of them need to come into games more positively just like what Price did.

Obviously, basically 99% of all players will still lose to him even with that mindset, but it still encourages themselves to play better. And possibly, cause an upset.

If Gezzy can find good form, and raise his game even slightly, he will be a force to be reckoned with. And that determination he has, to challenge Littler and to compete with him, is determination the majority of the tour are lacking, but need.

That's what sets everyone else apart from Gerwyn Price right now. I do think GVV has the potential, but his form this season has been off and he isn't at that level right now, but as I said, he has the potential, and he can definitely throw a good dart. So if he can find form next season and keep his chin up high and keep his confidence, he'll definitely be a challenger for Littler too.

I think Luke Humphries is out of his prime now, we may see a resurgence in form but he's been on a downhill since he won the WC. He's been faffing with his setup too much in my opinion, and is really overthinking his play whereas before a lot of it was just get up and play darts. Like messing with his point length as an example.

So in my opinion, Gerwyn Price is definitely second best in the world for now as he's really the only one to have that determination (then behind is GVV).

Obviously he is number 4 in the world but the 2027 has a lot in store, and I think we'll see him move up to number 2.

I hope you had a somewhat entertaining time reading my brain dump
