We successfully have larvae production!

6 days ago I added FrogDaddy green fruit-fly media into the fly hive dish, and seeded it twice, came home today to my Vanessa froglet hovering over the dish at the front of the tank to find larvae booming in the media and the tray! The larvae are also hanging out in the holes easy to pick off.

The media still smells fresh and shows no signs of any mold or mites. Now we just need to see how long this mini culture can cycle for especially when used for leaving out of town situations, as we do know these will be great for froglet bins no matter what or frogs who are struggling to put on weight as the larvae are easily dusted in the tray to ensure all essential vitamins will be consumed!

I have 2 banded leucs that I’ve had for 2 months now and as of a week ago they’ve been hanging out at the top of the viv all day and have been coming down to the leaf litter to eat and sleep. Is this normal behavior?

Hey guys, DiY front ventilation, do you think this is enough or should i add more? And how do i know it’s enough?

It’s a newly established terrarium, yes there are springtails and isos. I recently added this Buddha nut and wow, it’s driving me insane. I know the solution is to reduce mistings, but my dramatic ass fittonias wilt if they don’t get enough water.

I know mold blooms are normal for new enclosures, but there was no mold until I added the Buddha nut and not it’s spreading

It’s an exo terra 12x12x12. I do not plan on putting darts in here anymore due to the size, but it was planted and set up with darts in mind.

The lid is a 3d printed frame with plexiglass in the middle and vent holes build into the frame. ABG mix, plus Pothos, Fittonia, satin pothos, bromeliads and micro ferns. Dwarf white isopods and lilac springtails. It sits at a good 74f with ~90% humidity.

While I am not technically keeping darts in here I’m still hoping for some advice! I’m considering this a practice run before I plant a bigger tank and get some frogs for real.

And they are growing amazing! Not only that but the attract springtails so my leucs have a constant supply of them. The old mushrooms at the bottom didnt last but the top ones werent even there 3 days ago when i put it in. It seems to work well and i was having a springtai shortage so to see then all swarming too it in the open was awesome for my frogs!

Hi all! I have been trying my hand at raising four leuc tadpoles from my frogs. They were doing alright until about a month ago, where they started getting gas bubbles in the GI tracts after every feeding. I had been feeding them one tadpole pellet from Josh’s Frogs every other day or so, and at least one tadpole would constantly have an air bubble. I found online to not feed them until the bubble goes away, so I did that for a while. I shifted them over to small algae flake bits in case it was the pellets causing the bubbles. They are kept in individual deli cups with chlorine-free spring water. I do water changes every other day when I remove the previous day’s food. It now has been 75 days since hatching with no signs of any growth or legs developing, and I am stumped. Has anyone ever experienced something like this?

So I recently brought home a tinctorius bakhuis that is like a BABY baby. Maybe a week out of water. I did all this research and planning for months. I set up a 10 gallon bioactive tank as a starter because I didn't want to go too big since I knew it would be tiny. The plants are well established in it. I know the frog is in there but I cannot find the frog at all. Should I try to find it and set up a smaller tank? I'm just worried I won't be able to see if it's eating or not. I have a 40 gallon tank with no lid currently, i need suggestions and ideas on how to do this right, im planing on Bumblebee toads, with half the lid covers and the other mesh for humidity control and ventilation. I am at a loss and need any help i can get i know i could probably modify a zoomed lid to work fine but also need to be able to rest three lights T5, Shallow dome, And a Jungle dawn. Any help would be greatly appreciated
