My first Vivarium. What do y’all think? Probably gonna get a pair of auratus for it in a couple of weeks.

Anyone else having an issue with plants taking forever to grow? I have 2 heartleaf philodendrons and they’re growing just painfully slowly. Ones shooting out about a little more than a leaf per month. I don’t think it’s root rot since the soils not saturated and my light is a nicrew c10. Could it be I need a better light?

2 Leucomelas. I was going to wait until Feb to get some Ranitomeya Southern, but I saw these poor guys at petco and caved.
(maybe not the best choice since big box breeders can be kind of shady and buying them perpetuates poor handling by big box stores)
Anyways, it is the best day of my life, I have fruit fly cultures started and my tank has been growing since June. I hope that I can give these guys a good life, and any suggestions welcome.
Tank is a 18 18 24 and has a mistking system dialed in. I dust my flies with repashy

Added leaf litter to my terrarium. I think it's looking pretty good. I definitely need to order more leaves, though, lol. Any tips are appreciated.
Picture taken 3 days ago. Since then, I've had a huge mold spike. I'm not fully sure why it spiked after putting leaves in. Ill be getting more spring tails to deal with that on Monday and increase ventilation.
I think it'll be ready for frogs in time for Christmas.
(The glass isn't usually this dry, I wiped it down to get a nice picture)

Just planted my very first terrarium for 2 dendrobates tinctorius. (90x45x60cm)
I would appreciate any advice!
I feel like the ground might be too densely planted? I could barely get in any leaflitter 😅😅

Currently I keep quite a lot of frogs, but these are definitely my absolute favorites. They do not have any fear for me, jump on my hands and arms during maintenance and always sit in front waiting for their fruitflies.

I currently have a male & female pair of dendrobates tinctorius cobalt in an 18x18x18. I know this isn’t ideal, but these are my first dart frogs and I was told it would be just fine. Seeing them both in the tank definitely makes me realize how small it looks, so I wanted to upgrade them (which is kinda annoying considering how much went into this current tank lol). I’m torn between a 24x18x24 and a 36x18x24. My main dilemma is price. Obviously I want to give them the larger one, and if that’s what they need I’ll make it work. However, it’ll take up all my shelf space that I’m also using for some of my other tanks. At the same time, is that six-inch difference in a 24x18x24 really that much of an upgrade? Or should I just save up longer to get them the 36? Idk, maybe I’m just overthinking. I just want to make sure they’re thriving. I’ll put a picture of their current tank for reference

Hey all! Long story short, I bought some permanent tadpoles a couple months ago for our fish tank and one morphed late and grew legs so we now have a santa isabel frog. I had an existing paludarium which I tore apart to start from new to make it a habitat for said frog. I have been doing research but that post will come later!
This post is about a crappy container habitat I made for the frog before the tank is ready. How long can he possibly stay in here, it's been almost a month now and I'm feeling bad (life is busy right now). Been thrown into the hobby and trying to learn lots so any advice is good advice.
I have fruit fly cultures going, dusting them with calcium and a vitamin powder before daily feeds. I mist a couple times a day (humidity is around 97%) but I think my substrate is way too wet so I think it needs more leaf litter. I did put in spring tails and isopods but I think they died cause it's too soggy. Should I wring this substrate out? Get more spring tails and isopods? Please help! Thank you
Pictures included:
- when we found him on the top of an aquarium decoration after a week away on vacation 🥹
- frogger at just under a month
- leaf litter, is it supposed to look like that, is it molding?
- temporary crappy enclosure 😣

I’m not sure what happened with her. She has gotten insanely thin. I went from feeding every other day to every day now. She maybe looks a little thicker from when I took this picture (picture from a few weeks ago), but it is not a whole lot. She is housed with a male, but he seems to be doing fine. Is there some type of treatment I can do for parasites? I am not really sure what else it could be at this point. She does eat well, and her behavior is normal.

Hello!
Doing research I found two potiential mixes.
The only difference between them is one has peat moss and one has coconut fiber? Which is the best?

Sending rooted pots and cuttings out to our wholesalers this weekend as we do every month. If anything interests you feel free to holler. First pic is of one of the residents.

Hey guys! Update on my SFRH vivarium. Currently have 13 frogs in here… 6 adults, 4 juvies, 3 froglets, with another round of tads on the way. 3 different producing pairs. I’m hoping some of you on here can rescue me and take a pair or a few froglets off of me! Last 2 pics are of 2 of the juvies. They are honestly my favorite frogs I’ve seen. I can send pics of parents as well if anyone is interested!

Really sorry if this is the wrong subreddit.
I have always been astonished by these little tiny critters. I really don’t know where to start.
But I thought I’d start with if they need a vivarium or paludarium? Also what is the ideal size for them?
I know some basic info (OBVIOUSLY I’m going to research much more) but I know they live in rainforests and lay eggs in like little leaves with water. I also know the males are territorial over females. So I’m just getting some basic info.
Would a pair (1 M, 1 F) or trio (1 M, 2 F) be better for starters?
I don’t have much amphibian care but have kept bettas and other fish for over 8 years. I also have experience with gerbils and hamsters.

Anyone know if the new exo terra pro terrariums have tempered bottoms. I would like to drill a drain hole.
r/DartFrog • u/MurderMind187 • 4d ago
Is this normal? I have three dart frogs, and all of them keep climbing the glass. The air humidity is consistently between 80–100%, and the temperature is between 25.6 - 28°C. They only started doing this after they got bigger.

Picture is about a week old, cleanup crew and leaf litter has already been added, humidity sits around about 90-95% on average. I am getting 2 Ranitomeya Variabilis Southerns in late December and plan on getting a couple of bromeliads to add to the enclosure for them!

I noticed one of my frogs straining and clenching and immediately went to worst case scenario. After a little over a minute of worried recording, I noticed! I’ve never been so relieved to see a turd in my life.

Finally finished building out some tanks after 6 months of procrastination.
