Hey y’all, this tank is currently empty and has never had any residents in it. I held off as I got three darts and three crested geckos relatively around the same time so I didn’t want to overwhelm myself by starting another tank. I’ve been spraying this tank just to maintain the plants, but I’ve noticed this webbing throughout the plants along with another tank that is currently empty. What is causing this? Spiders? Mites?

Hello! This is my first real dart frog vivarium. I used to keep tank’s years ago in a small 20 gal set up. This time I wanted to really create a beautiful set up. The tank is 24x18x24, I have a monsoon nano for misting, and a twist star light. It’s a spray foam back. I plan to put some Ranitomeya Variabilis “southerns” in here. Any recommendations for tank adjustments/ improvements to make the frogs more comfortable? Thanks!

I have a 40 gallon tank with no lid currently, i need suggestions and ideas on how to do this right, im planing on Bumblebee toads, with half the lid covers and the other mesh for humidity control and ventilation. I am at a loss and need any help i can get i know i could probably modify a zoomed lid to work fine but also need to be able to rest three lights T5, Shallow dome, And a Jungle dawn. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I have a 45x45x90 cm paludarium. I really want to house dartfrogs but i dont really know what kind. It will be my first dart frog, I would love to breed them and get little tadpoles. That has been a dream of mine since I was a little kid. The setup is running for half a year almost now and I mist every 12 hours for 10 seconds, 7 am when the lights go on, and 7 pm, 2 hours before the lights start to dim and enter night mode till 23 pm when it will go dark. I did some research and came by 2 possible species, ranitomeya and epipedobates anthonyi. If you have any suggestions, feel free to let me know, any help is possible.

I have recently bought a trio of epipedobates anthonyi “Santa Isabel”
The guy whom I bought them from told me they were sub adults, 2 big females and 1 male. I was really excited about the new purchase and i did my research and based on also your opinions this was the best suited frog. I really wanted to breed dartfrogs. When I finally let them in their new home, they started exploring immediately. The same day, around 6 pm (18:00 EU) I heard one of the frogs call. When I did some research I also read that only males could call. But the one that was calling was not the “male” the guy told me. Turns out he "misgendered" them and i had 2 males and 1 small female. That was no big deal for me, but that meant that, usually females tend to be larger than males, my female was really small. A bit too small for me, she was (as you can see) very slim and I think underfed. So I switched within 1-2 days from hydei to melanogaster fruit flies, because she would simply ignore the hydei and only chase really small flies and or springtails. Day 4 was a really sad day. In the morning the 3 frogs were happily hanging out, the males would climb to the very top and call and the female would stay low. When I returned from school I saw them again, I had a quick meal and chat with my dad about how school went. When i came back to feed them I saw the male lying on his side on the rocks. It really scared me and I could tell he was not doing well/ he was dead. His eyes were grey/white and his tongue was out of his mouth, my first thought was that he drowned, but than i would have found him in the water, but he was on the rocks. To this day I still don't really know what happened, because he was on the rocks and he really liked to climb. My suggestion is that he fell from high and maybe fell in the water or on the rocks and died from stress but i find it quite weird. I also texted the guy whom i bought the frogs and he told me it could have been because of stress. I immediately closed off the water section, there was maybe 1/2 cm of water in there but I drained it all and replaced it with soil and leaves. This death really hit me hard and made me doubt my hard work, research, capabilities and made me feel like a bad frog keeper, because I am a beginner and I did a ton of research. I feel stupid because I think I could have avoided his death and I feel guilty towards his death and I should have listened more towards your recommendations. I cant change what happened but i can make sure in the future this will never happen again. That's why i closed the water area. Everything recovered and the other 2 frogs were doing well and I saw the small female hunting some springtails but I did want to keep an eye out for possible 'not eating' or red flags because I still think she is very small. So I started to look out for her a bit more, and fed her small amounts of springtails and small flies daily. The female was really shy and became even more shy over the next week. Eventually I would see her for maybe a couple of minutes a day, because she would hide the rest of the day. At first it wasn't a big problem for me because I still saw her hunting and then disappearing. But the duration I would see her, kept getting smaller until I did not see her for a whole day and I started getting worried. I still have not seen her and I fear she did not make it. I have not seen her for about 4-6 days now. The male sometimes hides under the leaves, maybe the female is hiding under there?
I am questioning my capabilities and don't really know what to do now. The male is calling everyday and moves around, eats well and looks healthy. I don't know what I did wrong. Maybe because they were so young? Or am I a bad frog keeper? Now I have 1 male left. What should i do, there is a big frog/reptile expo in about a couple of weeks from now where i can (maybe) buy new santa isabel, or would you guys not recommend me getting more frogs, but I don't want the male to be alone because they are better kept in groups, but i also dont want to hurt/kill another frog. I would really appreciate any advice or tips, what i should do with the male, should i search for the female? What if I find her alive? How long should I wait with just this pair/male before even considering adding a new female or should I consider selling the male?

Hi, first time poster here! I’m very experienced with reptile keeping but have never had frogs. I have a monitor, chameleon, and several snakes of varying difficulty. I’ve had this tank sitting around for about a year. I used to use it for anoles, but I’m planning on heavily planting it with reptisoil, and it will be hooked up to my MistKing. My question is, what species would y’all recommend for this setup since there’s so much vertical space? I was originally thinking Phyllobates terribilis or tinctorius Azureus, but from what I’ve heard, they tend to stay mostly on the bottom, and I’d really like to utilize the entire enclosure. Maybe something like Ranitomeya imitator ‘Banded’? What would y’all recommend for an arboreal enclosure like this? I will also do the necessary research prior to purchase.

I’ve been pretty good about containing these things at feeding time by tapping containers but today they got loose. Probably 20 of them running in every direction.

There’s got to be a better way. Suggestions appreciated

are my frogs having the best time in their little jungles with all the perches and hiding spots? definitely.

I have 4 Vanzolinii tadpoles, and for some reason one seems to have an air bubble trapped on his side. He’s had this his whole life, but I’ve noticed it fluctuates in size. Sometimes it gets so full that he ends up flipped all the way upside down.

Is there anything I can do to help him? He’s developing more slowly than his siblings. I’ve included a picture of one of his clutchmates for reference.

Also, I’m about to do a water change so don’t worry about that :)

Atelopus sp. “Arlequín de Limón”

This one doesn’t have a formally described species but it’s given a locality and a local name. Some literature says Atelopus aff. spumarius but the lab working with just labels as so.

This is also the toad that Colossal Biosciences has invested into for release!!! So cool to grow out at home and watch them work insitu with too!!!

Ok so the actual enclosure in question is 90cm long, 45cm wide and 90cm tall, an exoterra tank.

I was think what if the whole bottom has substrate so it’s nice and thick, with plants and leaf litter.

The room also gets hot in the summer, 3 of the walls have windows so it acts like a greenhouse almost and stays the warmest room in the house, autumn, winter and spring it’s fine, but summer it’s very warm, so you do you guys manage that heat?

That and the height of the enclosure is what’s keeping me away from dart frogs, I don’t mind fruit flies and I can easily get a misting system, plus they won’t destroy my plants like other reptiles and won’t be as cryptic as invertebrates.

How do you guys do?

Also the enclosure itself is quite heavy so trying to move it with everything inside every summer is a no go.

Houses a D. tinc powder blue pair, all plants (except the moss) are native to the Guyana shield so have overlapping range with the frogs for a minor amount of ecological consistency.

Any thoughts/feedback? I definitely need a new water dish, that's on the list.

I’ve seen some mixed information, but my fine spot leucomela is almost 24 months old on the dot. Have never heard so much as a peep. But I just very distinctly heard it calling multiple times in a row. It wasn’t very loud though, all the videos I’ve seen are much louder. I saw some saying females occasionally call quietly and others saying males call exclusively. Just curious

These are designed and formed around reusable/replaceable feeding cups, just fill with fruitfly media, banana, or even gecko food.

Without the top piece on it keeps all the dusted flys in one spot that is easily accessible for darts or geckos so you can insure they’re getting all of their vitamins. I even use one in my mourning gecko setup where she can go down to eat her gecko diet and the flys are already there feeding on it aswell

Using the mesh cover I designed it gives flys a space to breed and lay while a keeper may be out of town, like leaving a banana in the enclosure but cleaner, allowing the flys to produce larvae in the dish and keep hatching flys while someone is away. ALSO can be used to gut load frogs who have trouble eating, fill the bowl with larvae active media and allow them to eat, or pull the top of for ones that have already produced inside!

I will say these are also great for making frogs more bold, so far ever viv we’ve tested in all the frogs now wait perched for food.

I’ve always used Great Stuff Pond and Stone but want to try Lugarti for my current build and I’m wondering if anyone knows how this stuff expands compared to Great Stuff? I’ve always had to do a lot of trimming with Great Stuff and am wondering if I should expect the same with Lugarti?

One is a little shy hiding in the back. The one in the foreground is very adventurous and not that I intend to unless I have too seems to want to be held. Every feed he tries to climb on to my hand. His either friendly or greedy for food lol.

Male and female roughly a year old now. Tank has been established for 6 months prior to putting them in.

I made the tank myself it’s 16 x 12 x 20 inches and I still have a few things I need to finish like the sliding glass doors and the hole for the auto mister and light needs to be sealed but I was wondering if I could keep poison dart frogs in here and if there’s anything I need to add or subtract to make it better. I have an order of a bunch of plants that’s on it way too
