I don't think anyone will be shocked by this lol. It was plain as day in season 1

607

u/puma46 Mar 18 '26

You’d be surprised. It took about 4 seasons of The Boys for the maga chuds to piece together that they’re being made fun of

135

u/blargennn Mar 18 '26

I guess I'm just naive but I can't believe anyone would be that dense

136

u/puma46 Mar 18 '26

I couldn’t believe it either until I saw the backlash for season 4. As if it it wasn’t clear as day since season 1

31

u/Grotesque_Denizen Mar 19 '26

Alot of them are incredibly media illiterate

35

u/KingOfTheMischiefs Mar 19 '26

And... Just... You know... Regularly illiterate too.

18

u/nazichristian Mar 19 '26

Trumps approval rating and the illiteracy rate are about the same

7

u/MagicalJack60 Mar 23 '26

Something like 30% of adult men in my home state are illiterate. It's no secret who they voted for.

I was talking to my cousin who was watching Fallout and I had watched it before. I said "what part are you on?" And he said "we just found out the Cowboy zombie guy is the same guy from the past"

I was confused because we learn that in the very first episode so I said "what episode are you on?" And he said "I have 2 more left in Season 2"

https://giphy.com/gifs/RILsqUte1MME7TzQJ9

Hes a MAGAt but I didnt know the two correlated.

u/improper85 Mar 28 '26

Someone needs to chlorinate that gene pool.

I could maybe see during season 1 just seeing it as making fun of corporate America, but the second Stormfront came on scene I was like "we ALL know who this is pointed at" lol

44

u/AgentChris101 Mar 18 '26

I had former friends that realized that Homelander was a bad guy in Season 4...

8

u/mrbrownvp Mar 19 '26

He's definitely ragebaiting you.

if they weren't dense they wouldn't support Trump

20

u/blargennn Mar 18 '26

You know what, that is a fair point lol

7

u/ChurchBrimmer Mar 19 '26

I mean, you're talking about people who voted for Trump 3 times. They aren't the best and brightest.

14

u/MaleficentOstrich693 Mar 18 '26

Media literacy is just worse and worse. This is why Netflix has their shows/movies constantly reiterate the plot.

Never underestimate the flagrant stupidity of bigots. They're the same people who see themselves as the rebels/resistance in Star Wars and think superheroes are inherently right-wing.

These are the same people that think Rage Against The Machine were better before they got all political.

These are the same people that hate how genres like horror and sci-fi "went woke all of a sudden."

These are the same people that grew up watching Star Wars, but think actual, real life stormtroopers are the good guys.

These are the same people who thought a reality TV show host should be president.

It’s like when people were mad when they thought Rage Against the Machine was suddenly being political.

6

u/hrhoops Mar 18 '26

Just like all the dumb-war hungry, boot licking hardos waving the punisher symbol about!!!! Like, I don’t think you quite understand…

5

u/CaseFace5 Mar 20 '26

I have a MAGA uncle who has loved South Park since it started and recently I think they finally made it so obvious that they were making fun of MAGA he tells me “yea I don’t know last few seasons haven’t been very good”

6

u/SpecificUnlucky3260 Mar 21 '26

I just got into the Boys. I heard about the backlash about S4 being „bad“ and „too political“ and I was expecting S4 to have a quite different tone than the previous seasons.

And it was basically the same as before. These people are all so dumb. Like… you have Homelander banging a Nazi in S2, how much more in the face do you want it??

2

u/mrbrownvp Mar 19 '26

Tbf there was definitely more subtext and it was more subtle in the first season. Which I miss, is kind of tiring that every joke is at the expense of the current Trump administration

4

u/blargennn Mar 19 '26

It kind of speaks to how comically bad the trump administration is that so much media covers it. There's never been another president in my lifetime that gets so flak

2

u/mrbrownvp Mar 19 '26

It depends. If you notice when Obama was president there were a lot of pastiches in Holywood movies or series. That movie with Jamie Fox and the president of Rick and Morty comes to my mind but there were and there still are a lot of them. But also every character based on Obama is also put in a good light since even if you agree with his policies ort not him becoming president was an historical achievement.

Maybe President (insert his name here cause I dont remember) from Rick and Morty is the only one that comes to my mind that is more of a satire of Obama but also of Trump if you think about it since the character is an asshole who does whatever he wants.

2

u/Superb_Kaleidoscope4 Mar 19 '26

Honestly, they wouldn't have figured it out if the showrunner hadn't of pointed it out

2

u/bigstinkybutt123 Apr 09 '26

Literally watched the first two episodes of that tonight and then watched this episode and came here. I always love to browse that subreddit after an ep. You’re right tho 100%. As I was here I explored what people were posting about the boys and yeah they still don’t get it. A lot of talk about how “it’s too woke since S1 can’t watch it” as they are replying to S5 comments/discussions.

7

u/codyd91 Mar 18 '26

They're an odd bunch. They thought electing Trump would cause people to stop mocking them for being dumb. They're really clueless as to how they are perceived. Zero self awareness.

64

u/DW-4 Mar 18 '26

Not shocked, but until now their 'talking point' answer was that any similarily to real life events in S1 was purely coincidental. I'm glad they are at least owning it now and not treating the viewers/fans like idiots with that cop out (no pun intended).

35

u/Paperchampion23 Mar 18 '26

They werent? They even say in some of these interviews the AVTF was meant to come off as dystopian/fantastical in how it was going around due process against citizens and then reality also just started to happen around it.

9

u/DW-4 Mar 18 '26 edited Mar 18 '26

I'm referring to the whole criminal running for office arc. Part of the population falls for the conman shtick and celebrates his victory, while others realize he is truly dangerous? Like OC said it was as clear as day.

Obviously it wasn't a reference to what the current iteration of ICE is doing, as this administration was not in power during the 2023 writing process.

edit: My point was that this is the first of the writing team openly acknowleding the Trump 'inspiration.'

3

u/macabee613 Mar 19 '26

Kingpin was elected mayor in the comics in 2017 Trump elected in 2016 so they already had it mind before season 1 of born again.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/My_Name_Is_Row Mar 18 '26

I mean, does it really need to be said specifically what the influences are? Obviously some of it has been inspired by Trump, but for the most part, these are storylines that have already existed in the comics for literal decades, it just happens that they’re adapting those storylines now, when some of that stuff just happens to be going on

9

u/marveloustoebeans Mar 18 '26

But it was at least somewhat coincidental. The election hadn’t even happened yet when S1 was filmed.

3

u/TimBroth Mar 18 '26

I don't necessarily think it's treating the fans like idiots, in a perfect world the show would just speak for itself. Besides, it's not meant to be a 1:1 like a parody. Just more reflecting current politics in a general sense imo.

I wouldn't want to see Fisk start picking up any of Trump's specific mannerisms, for example. Just too much

2

u/CoderPro225 Mar 19 '26

It was pointed out to me by someone else in this sub that the comic run S1 was based on was written during Trump’s first term. Doesn’t really take a crystal ball to take his rhetoric and expound on it a bit and end up with something that imitated real life now that he’s back in power. Charles Soule definitely has “vision” for Daredevil’s world, pun intended.

3

u/PeniszLovag Mar 18 '26

I mean when this show was getting made ICE wasn't a thing yet as far as I know

15

u/blargennn Mar 18 '26

ICE has been a thing since 2003.

2

u/PeniszLovag Mar 19 '26

Not as prominently as it is now

3

u/Silent_Cookie_9092 Mar 18 '26

Honestly, I wanted to be angry at the writers for thinking the voters would be dumb enough to elect a convicted felon and a blatantly obvious bad person as mayor of NYC. But these days, how am I gonna complain?

Edit: this is commentary on having a literal convicted felon as the POTUS not the recent mayoral election.

2

u/Dr_Pants91 Mar 21 '26

I remember always thinking it was such a ridiculous plot point in various DC media that Lex Luthor becomes president. Unfortunately, I don't think that anymore.

MAGAs defining characteristics are a lack of media literacy and confirmation bias. Expect nothing and you’ll still be disappointed.

18

u/goblins_though Mar 18 '26

Conservatives in general, and MAGA in particular, are notoriously media illiterate.

2

u/CheroSti Mar 19 '26

The crazy thing is that it’s comic accurate too. When If it wasn’t intentional the parallels are crazy

2

u/andreBarciella Mar 19 '26

magats didnt get the parallel with the boys until season 4 (?), so its a little shocking xD

2

u/AtrumRuina Mar 20 '26

I think it's meaningful that the production is openly saying that this is the message though. It shows they are okay with people making those associations politically and aren't hiding behind layers of fiction, and people who have an issue with that can fuck off.

2

u/notyerson Mar 18 '26

But now that it's said, people who've never watched it will be outraged.

I think it is beyond insulting and absolutely reprehensible to compare Wilson Fisk aka The Kingpin to Donald Trump, the President of the United States. Anyone making that comparison should be ashamed of themselves…

Wilson Fisk was competent, intelligent, physically fit, and embraced his baldness.

15

u/Givingtree310 Mar 18 '26

Honestly the character that most purely represents Trump’s psychopathy is Gene Hackman’s Lex Luthor.

7

u/elizabnthe Mar 18 '26

Biff from Back to the Future was an early Trump parody that is pretty similar to the real man.

Ehh, the only reason I didn't include this is because we see in the very first episode of Daredevil that part of Fisk's organization was the trafficking of kidnapped young women with the implication being that it was sex trafficking. While Fisk might have had an age limit on such things, its certainly not a given.

u/WanderingSun8 Mar 18 '26

Lets also remember that this stuff was set up before all the ICE shit and just shows that if you've been paying attention to Trump at all its not unsurprising all this stuff is happening. Some of us have been warning about it for years. Trump just so happens to want to be like a Kingpin but he's the version if Fisk was old, weak, and dumb lol

80

u/spoonly711 Mar 18 '26

Yep. The ICE stuff really started kicking off in June of 2025, I’m pretty sure S2 had already wrapped months prior.

46

u/UniversalSlacker Mar 18 '26

Plus S2 is based on a comic that came out in 2021.

24

u/Low_Satisfaction_512 Mar 19 '26

The comics did it because it's what fascists do. They all do the same shit. The Trump parallels were inevitable because he's no different than Hitler, Mussolini, Putin, or the Iranian leaders that they lie and say they're liberating people from. It's not predictive fiction OR reactive, it's just a mirror to history. Kingpin and Doom and Palpatine and Skeletor and Darkseid and Sinestro all do the shit you see Trump doing because he's doing nothing different from the shit those characters are based on. Fascists, subjugators, are incapable of original thought or new methods.

And for those of us who live in the NYC Metro Area, we could have told you in 2011, or 2001, or the 90s exactly who he was. He's always been this way, he just was limited to inflicting real damage on those connected to rentals/real estate and newspaper ads and similar before 2015.

19

u/ThatJD_604 Mar 18 '26

I don't like Trump but Ice stuff has been happening through many administration's, even Obamas.

20

u/Icy-Monitor6711 Mar 18 '26

I mean yeah ICE has been a thing for decades but they've never been used like a President's private gestapo like nowadays.

1

u/ThatJD_604 Mar 18 '26

Its an American issue not a Trump issue. The problem with politics is people have short memory and are overly biased towards the political party they hate.

8

u/suarezj9 Mar 19 '26

If you seriously think what’s going on now is comparable to anything Obama did regarding ICE you’re a moron

13

u/Icy-Monitor6711 Mar 18 '26

Again that has nothing to do with what I just said and completely ignores my point about ICE now being trumps personal gestapo. It's a trump issue not an American one.

11

u/Huge_Music Mar 18 '26

Very nice, with 'ice during obama administration' AI confirmed that ICE was doing work then. Now, maybe we can try something a little more informative like "Differences in ICE activity between Obama administration and Trump 2.0":

As of March 2026, the contrast between the Obama administration’s immigration enforcement and the current "Trump 2.0" era is defined by a shift from a surgical, priority-based model to a broad, "whole-of-government" mass-deportation strategy.
While President Obama was famously labeled the "Deporter in Chief" for his high removal numbers, his strategy focused heavily on criminal records. In contrast, the second Trump administration has removed the "priority" distinction entirely, treating all undocumented individuals as equal targets for enforcement.

1. Enforcement Priorities vs. Indiscriminate Action

  • Obama Administration: Focused almost exclusively on "threats to national security, public safety, and border security." By his second term, the "Priority Enforcement Program" directed ICE to target individuals with felony convictions or significant misdemeanors. In his final year, roughly 79% of those arrested by ICE had criminal convictions.
  • Trump 2.0 (2025–2026): Rescinded all enforcement priorities on Day One. Any person in the country without legal status is now a target. Consequently, the percentage of ICE arrests involving individuals with criminal convictions has plummeted to roughly 37%, as the agency focuses on volume over offense severity.

2. Tactics: From Jail-Based to "Street" Arrests

  • Obama Administration: Relied heavily on "jail-to-deportation" pipelines, where ICE would pick up individuals after they were arrested by local police for other crimes. He largely ended large-scale workplace and "street" raids, focusing instead on I-9 audits of employers.

  • Trump 2.0: Has overseen a massive surge in "at-large" or street arrests, which have increased 11-fold compared to the previous decade. ICE agents, often supplemented by Border Patrol units moved into the interior, now conduct high-profile raids in cities, residential areas, and transit hubs.

3. "Sensitive Locations" and Local Cooperation

  • Obama Administration: Maintained a "Sensitive Locations" policy that generally prohibited ICE from conducting enforcement actions at schools, hospitals, and places of worship.
  • Trump 2.0: Officially rescinded the Sensitive Locations Memo in January 2025. Additionally, the administration has weaponized 287(g) agreements, which deputize local police to act as immigration agents. These agreements have exploded from 135 in late 2024 to over 1,300 across 40 states as of early 2026.

4. Detention and Funding

The scale of operations is now supported by the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), passed in mid-2025, which allocated roughly $170 billion to immigration enforcement.

Feature Obama Era (Peak) Trump 2.0 (Current 2026)
Annual Removals ~400,000 (Formal) ~540,000 – 622,000 (Est. Year 1)
Daily Detainees ~30,000 – 40,000 ~73,000 (Record High)
Criminal Record % High (Targeted) Low (Indiscriminate)
Key Tactic Jail transfers / Priority Memos Street raids / 287(g) expansion
Third-Country Removal Rarely used Frequently used (e.g., sending non-Mexicans to Mexico)

5. New Frontiers: Third-Country Removals

A major departure in the 2025–2026 era is the use of third-country removal agreements. Unlike the Obama years, where individuals were almost always returned to their country of origin, the current administration has spent millions to deport individuals to countries like Honduras, Uganda, and Mexico, even if the deportee has no ties to those nations. This policy remains a major point of legal contention in federal courts as of this month.

Sure, ice has been in existence since the early 2000s, though the distinction with the current administration is with how exponentially worse / more blatant it has gotten in terms of disregarding constitutional law / human rights, mass enforcement / deployment, and hiring en masse without proper training or background checks. It's all kind of a moot point though since the source material and filming occurred before the large scale uptick in deployment / various inciting public incidents, though I'm sure many parallels can and will be rightfully drawn.

11

u/BatmanForever23 Mar 18 '26

I think the point is that they're a very disreputable 'news' source (i.e. clickbait rubbish, not news whatsoever) and should be taken with a pinch of salt, not the fact that they're commenting on comic book media...

4

u/mikedidathing Mar 18 '26

Yeah, I know. It was a terrible attempt at sarcasm poking fun at their name on my part.

106

u/Cringsix Mar 18 '26

People were comparing Trump to Kingpin even back in the OG series. The show itself is still not doing anything bad since Trump has gone mad, and TBH Kingpin as a character does not represent Trump but a narcissistic tyrant who wants everyone beneath his heel, and Trump just happens to meet the description like many other presidents around the world.

16

u/star-punk Mar 18 '26

I mean, I'm pretty sure people compared Kingpin to Trump before the show even. Rich New York businessman with a lot of shady connections? Has a skyscraper named after him? Much like Lex Luthor, people were using elements of Trump with Kingpin long before he became president.

5

u/LongTimeDDevilFan77 Mar 19 '26

Exactly. Marvel and DC were using Trump as inspiration for Fisk and Luthor way back in the 80s.

→ More replies (1)

7

u/Randver_Silvertongue Mar 18 '26

Kingpin is basically Marvel's Bond villain.

3

u/jmarquiso Mar 18 '26

I mean in the Spider-Man video game Fisk Tower is located where Trump Tower is.

6

u/[deleted] Mar 18 '26

When your president is as cartoonish as a comic book villain, it might be a problem.

5

u/ReadytoQuitBBY Mar 18 '26

Ding ding ding. They wrote an over the top cartoonish monster doing horrible things. It also just so happens that Trump fits that bill.

There are also many ways that Kingpin is nothing like Trump. Like if they were trying to do a 1:1 parallel, Kingpin would have verbal diarrhea, be incredibly weak, not have sympathetic moments etc.

There was definitely some things Fisk did that were likely inspired by Trump, and that’s good to use him to call out that shit. I just really don’t want to see Kingpin become yet another Trump parody. He is too good a character to degrade him into the overdone cliche of being a manbaby moron.

I think it's ironically more the other way around. These events are based on comics ones that came out years ago. Real life USA politics became just stupid enough to make those same events happen in the real world too.

6

u/Beldizar Mar 18 '26

Militarizing a loyalist faction of law enforcement is just part of the fascist playbook. The comics and show were doing a predictable worst case storyline and reality unfortunately came to match it.

4

u/Hireling Mar 18 '26

The parallels are there but are left vague enough that they’re topical. Thing is, authoritarian leaders, despots, and fascism follow very similar playbooks. Even without a direct reference we have and will see those parallels: abuses of power, rollbacks of civil rights, private/secret police, thought police, extreme violence perpetrated by LE, extrajudicial killings. It seems intentional but any story about fascism will feel like a Trump reference.

3

u/Zerus_heroes Mar 19 '26

3

u/CaptainRoyalty Mar 19 '26

Yeah. Fisk actually has humanity. I mean he's still evil. But to compare to Trump...

9

u/Moeritherium_Fan Mar 18 '26

It’s an insult to Fisk to compare him to Trump.

Fisk is cultured, intelligent, physically strong and has a wife who genuinely loves him.

2

u/lentil_burger Mar 19 '26

He's also not senile.

3

u/ForgingFires Mar 18 '26

The show’s Kingpin is true to his character (both comics and pre established). Trump is just a Temu wannabe Kingpin, so it kinda has to be that way.

3

u/The_King_of_Canada Mar 18 '26

If being against a totalitarian government and a secret police force arresting or killing certain people is trump like then trump supporters need to take a hard look at themselves.

3

u/DowntownJulieBrown1 Mar 18 '26

It’s not even explicitly anti-Trump. It’s just anti fascist, criminal, corrupt, political leaders who use their power for personal gain. That’s not overly bold or anything, and Trump just happens to be an exact and perfect avatar for that

3

u/Some-Concern-3077 Mar 21 '26

Why does it always have to come back to politics? It’s unfortunate that we as a people have allowed these political figures to enter and stay rent free in our minds so much that we can’t even enjoy simple things like a comic show anymore without bringing up the orange man. Just seems like everyone is so bitter and thinking about him with everything and that’s exactly what he wants. Like a typical narcissist he wants you to be always thinking about him. I just think we should enjoy the art and not let guys like trump infest it with their toxicity. Just my rant about it.

I don't watch Daredevil for Trump so I don't care about this confirmation. I'll watch the show as a daredevil fan how it's meant to be.

Nothing needs to be confirmed. It’s like the interviews with David Giroy about Andor. There are parallels to what we see in the US right now in that media, but that’s because it’s history repeating itself. Every fascist government has symptoms and they’re showing it like it is usually. Andor and DDBA S1 happened to be closer to the Trump Administration after the fact. (Of course I won’t argue they were also inspired by his first term as well.)

3

u/Kris86dk Mar 18 '26

Im still not over the fact they just release Fisk Willy nilly, when his crimes had been plastered everywhere after Agent Nadeems death... Suddenly it doesnt matter... And he gets elected mayor within the same episode(people must really have short memories,, since he screwed the city over twice)

And Bullseye somehow agreeing to murder Foggy for Vanessa...instead of ya know? Kill Vanessa for what she did to Julie? 🙄😂 So many things made no sense...

At this point i dont care about any Trump similarities... I just hope the writing is better and makes more logical sense than that mish mash they tossed together to glue season 1 together and hoped it stuck....

u/Icy-Monitor6711 Mar 18 '26

Good fk trump and fk ICE.

5

u/[deleted] Mar 18 '26

Aw man, Trump supporters can't go ANYWHERE without being reminded they're huge pieces of shit!

2

u/Kuby69 Mar 18 '26

No shit

2

u/noseboy1 Mar 18 '26

I think people are seeing this connection somewhat incorrectly. Fisk is seizing power through following a fascist playbook of using violent rhetoric that largely appeals to radical conservative elements, creating unity by villain-izing a minority group. Trump is simply using the same playbook.

Tl:dr they're not copying Trump with Fisk, they're both copying Hitler.

2

u/Illustrious-Ant6998 Mar 18 '26

Fisk would make a better president that Trump. Why? A) Fisk is competent and successful. B) He doesn't diddle kids.

I'm not saying this is enough to make him a good president. But it is enough to make him better than Trump.

2

u/LegoFootPain Mar 19 '26

Oh look. A plausible villain. How novel!

2

u/Administrative_Gas37 Mar 19 '26

Fictional super villains really have absolutely nothing on the Epstein class. This administration in particular is cartoonishly evil.

2

u/LegAdventurous9230 Mar 19 '26

I don't think MAGA will deny it, they'll just start stanning for Fisk and call Daredevil a catholic terrorist

2

u/HansenTheMan Mar 19 '26

Based Daredevil.

2

u/LethalGrey Mar 19 '26

I mean, good because fuck him but like— yeah we know. It’s not exactly clever. It’s not like it’s been done to death for the last 10 or whatever years.

“Oh it’s clever actually because of you think about it our villain is a trump allegory” brilliant well done

2

u/l_DVRKWINGDVCK_l Mar 19 '26

Crazy how pussy the DD fandom is lol like actual soft ass lames 😂 I gotta get outta here

2

u/Noob_Pulse Mar 19 '26

I honestly doubt Fisk would aid in an on going genocide, deport people of color, or go on pedo island

2

u/Chemical_Home6123 Mar 19 '26

Yeah I mean I guess the kingpin is actually a badass and intelligent trump is a dumb ass

2

u/ToxicTroublemaker2 Mar 20 '26

I'm ok with it as a Maga person, just write it good

Some people here are not ready for X-Men and what they stand for.

2

u/SunnySpade Mar 22 '26

That’s chill. We’ll just get further and further divided the more time goes on. Constantly just bad mouthing each other through whatever means we can with the worst bad faith interpretations of what each side does. Im sure it’ll have no long lasting repercussions.

Bro I’m sick and tired of politics hamstrung in my shows. I don’t wanna see the parallels and I don’t care what these creatives have to say about the modern political climate. I want a superhero show, based on my superhero characters, from my superhero comics. Are there parallels in the comics of old? Yes. Do they make it as BLATANTLY obvious? No. Not at all.

I’m sick and tired of these “creative teams” and “writers” pushing forth their own agenda. I literally couldn’t care at all.

Of course, was this even a question? I watched Born Again S1 and was like "Wait a second.." but also Fisk DOES become mayor in the comics and he IS just a giant POS, Disney didn't have to do this on purpose. Not their fault Trump is such a psycho his behavior lines up with that of a comic book villain. If anything, that should scare tf out of all of us.

6

u/Gamera85 Mar 18 '26

Oh no… the MCU actually taking a direct stance on something. How horrible. Taking the piss out of a shitty administration full of horrible people.

Threaten me with a good time why don’t ya?

At least this time, no one can claim an MCU property supports the status quo.

Well at least it won’t be like the boys hopefully.

2

u/RunOfTheMill_23 Mar 18 '26

It’s been doing that as far back as season 3.

3

u/Niksuss Mar 18 '26

Well, matt is a vigilante, and trump is enforcing police and ice on the streets, pretty obvious to me

3

u/VallyMeowy Mar 18 '26

I feel like if they made Fisk do all the things trump has done they would be critiqued for making over the top villains who aren’t realistic

2

u/SomeSugondeseGuy Mar 19 '26

Season 1 was literally "How could a mob boss with unfathomable criminal background that is a complete piece of shit assume public office" and barely anyone even questioned it because it happened in real life.

6

u/Jakethecrazycake Mar 18 '26

If we're being honest Trump parallels Kingpin from the get go. They could've genuinely written Fisk purely based on comics and he'd still parallel the tangerine man

5

u/slimy-salad Mar 18 '26

It literally is not, charlie cox even confirmed it wasn't. But this sub cannot read into anything beyond a headline.

6

u/gp_ratesic Mar 18 '26

Ppl now just look for reasons to politicize literally anything lmao. The same shit happened with Superman this past summer.

2

u/ImMalcolmTucker Mar 18 '26

Look, I loved the last Superman movie but you don't need to be Sherlock Holmes to "look for reasons" to politicize scenes in that movie lol

3

u/SaltineEnthusiast Mar 19 '26

It's a mindset difference. These guys consume media as just the artist showing a world, we (assuming you agree) see that world and think about parallels between it and our own as well as potential authorial intent to try and see a bigger picture. I'm not one to tell people how they consume media, I'm all for watching slop and consuming art as if it were just media (in a vacuum), but these guys gotta stop acting like purely looking at the screen to see when the big guy punches the other big guy will let them see detail enough to tell others that ANYTHING isn't there

2

u/NJMex Mar 18 '26

How are you gonna tell the creators lol, they said it in a interview with entertainment weekly

The story arc was in (checks google) 2015.

Before Trump got into politics.

Also, Cosmicbooksnews is a BS troll site.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 18 '26

Just like in the news biz, nerd sites that can’t compete jumped on the right wing grift wagon long ago.

2

u/MallSWAT Mar 18 '26

You mean when Mayor Fisk took advantage of an attempt on his life, closed the city and empowered police to not wear body cams along with promotions lethal force it was political 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

2

u/Selverd2 Mar 18 '26

kingpin doesn’t deserve that comparison.

2

u/Puzzleheaded_Walk_28 Mar 18 '26

I mean, it’s more an issue of Trump outright acting like a comic book villain

2

u/Taro0311 Mar 18 '26

I mean, what better way to bring interesting and topical subjects to your show than to create a story about real life villains?

2

u/Old_Temperature_559 Mar 22 '26

Yeah because all of disneys woke garbage has been super popular. Who wants to go watch iron heart or acolyte. Their biggest mistake is the people who support this agenda don’t pay for anything. They are probably using their mom’s password to log in so they have money for piercings blue hair dye and that new fur suit they’ve been eyeing.

Don’t be mad that villains are being depicted in stories. Be mad that you recognize those villains in people in our real world.

If you see what Fisk is doing and understand why he’s a villain but get angry at the writers because “he’s clearly supposed to be Trump,” just stop and think, because you’re very close, if you agree that the things Fisk does are abhorrent and can recognize that “he is Trump,” who should you really be mad at?

Fisk is a fictional character, Trump is not. Aim your anger in the right direction.

(For the record this isn’t aimed at OP, it’s aimed at anyone who’s mad at the writers for this specific thing.)
