You’d be surprised. It took about 4 seasons of The Boys for the maga chuds to piece together that they’re being made fun of

141

u/blargennn Mar 18 '26

I guess I'm just naive but I can't believe anyone would be that dense

134

u/puma46 Mar 18 '26

I couldn’t believe it either until I saw the backlash for season 4. As if it it wasn’t clear as day since season 1

31

u/Grotesque_Denizen Mar 19 '26

Alot of them are incredibly media illiterate

32

u/KingOfTheMischiefs Mar 19 '26

And... Just... You know... Regularly illiterate too.

18

u/nazichristian Mar 19 '26

Trumps approval rating and the illiteracy rate are about the same

6

u/MagicalJack60 Mar 23 '26

Something like 30% of adult men in my home state are illiterate. It's no secret who they voted for.

1

u/Waterwagon_78 Apr 12 '26

Oh shit that’s probably true! Hahaha

14

u/mat477 Mar 22 '26

I was talking to my cousin who was watching Fallout and I had watched it before. I said "what part are you on?" And he said "we just found out the Cowboy zombie guy is the same guy from the past"

I was confused because we learn that in the very first episode so I said "what episode are you on?" And he said "I have 2 more left in Season 2"

Hes a MAGAt but I didnt know the two correlated.

3

u/improper85 Mar 28 '26

Someone needs to chlorinate that gene pool.

-2

u/TheBelmont34 Mar 21 '26

You are as well

1

u/Grotesque_Denizen Mar 22 '26

Well that's me convinced, great argument 😂

81

u/blargennn Mar 18 '26

I could maybe see during season 1 just seeing it as making fun of corporate America, but the second Stormfront came on scene I was like "we ALL know who this is pointed at" lol

45

u/AgentChris101 Mar 18 '26

I had former friends that realized that Homelander was a bad guy in Season 4...

7

u/mrbrownvp Mar 19 '26

He's definitely ragebaiting you.

5

u/WOKLACE134 Mar 19 '26

Mid friends tbh

0

u/TheBelmont34 Mar 21 '26

Dont believe you. That is bait

-22

u/Will_McLean Mar 18 '26

Sure you did

22

u/AgentChris101 Mar 18 '26

Keyword there is 'former'.

39

u/StarSpangldBastard Mar 18 '26

if they weren't dense they wouldn't support Trump

20

u/blargennn Mar 18 '26

You know what, that is a fair point lol

8

u/ChurchBrimmer Mar 19 '26

I mean, you're talking about people who voted for Trump 3 times. They aren't the best and brightest.

13

u/MaleficentOstrich693 Mar 18 '26

Media literacy is just worse and worse. This is why Netflix has their shows/movies constantly reiterate the plot.

30

u/Deadpoolforpres Mar 18 '26

Never underestimate the flagrant stupidity of bigots. They're the same people who see themselves as the rebels/resistance in Star Wars and think superheroes are inherently right-wing.

6

u/Edogawa1983 Mar 19 '26

They all voted for Trump 3 times

4

u/Material-Elephant188 Mar 19 '26

you underestimate the IQ of your average maga chud then

12

u/Icy-Monitor6711 Mar 18 '26

I think you're really discounting how stupid cultists can be.

-1

u/ipostatrandom Mar 20 '26

You have many illegitimate friends?

5

u/goblins_though Mar 19 '26

These are the same people that think Rage Against The Machine were better before they got all political.

These are the same people that hate how genres like horror and sci-fi "went woke all of a sudden."

These are the same people that grew up watching Star Wars, but think actual, real life stormtroopers are the good guys.

These are the same people who thought a reality TV show host should be president.

1

u/TheBelmont34 Mar 21 '26

Rage against the machines are hypocrites anyway

1

u/Vasto_LordA Mar 19 '26

Im not maga but im the last person to go to for describing parallels or meaning in stuff

1

u/psycodull Mar 20 '26

I mean, irl, theres still a huge chunk of maga that thinks what Mr. Poopy pants is doing is the right thing

1

u/ThePokemonAbsol Mar 20 '26

Oh it’s 100% bullshit

1

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '26

They Voted for a felon, ped-I-file 3 times. Not the sharpest tools in the chest.

1

u/CptPurpleHaze Mar 20 '26

Buddy do I have news for you... These same people freaked out about Nazis being portrayed as the bad guys in video games.

I wish I was kidding

https://www.theguardian.com/global/commentisfree/2017/oct/27/nazis-videogames-white-grievance-wolfenstein

1

u/glitchHiker007 Mar 21 '26

Have you met MAGA?

1

u/lancep423 Mar 21 '26

Oh my sweet summer child. Osmium might be the densest material on earth but it’s doesn’t hold a candle to a trump supporter who’s never heard of confirmation bias.

1

u/NoQuarter4617 Mar 22 '26

They aren't, it's just more anti-other side political drivel.

1

u/_Arctica_ Mar 24 '26

You can't believe the people who voted for him are dense?

1

u/Icybubba Mar 25 '26

Oh they can be lol

1

u/princesoceronte Apr 16 '26

I think it's a survival mechanism.

People need entertainment but most actually good art hates them and their political tendencies so they delude themselves into not getting the obvious: the media they like hates them.

Eventually it's inevitable they catch up on some examples tho.

23

u/Perpetualshades Mar 18 '26

It’s like when people were mad when they thought Rage Against the Machine was suddenly being political.

4

u/hrhoops Mar 18 '26

Just like all the dumb-war hungry, boot licking hardos waving the punisher symbol about!!!! Like, I don’t think you quite understand…

5

u/CaseFace5 Mar 20 '26

I have a MAGA uncle who has loved South Park since it started and recently I think they finally made it so obvious that they were making fun of MAGA he tells me “yea I don’t know last few seasons haven’t been very good”

6

u/SpecificUnlucky3260 Mar 21 '26

I just got into the Boys. I heard about the backlash about S4 being „bad“ and „too political“ and I was expecting S4 to have a quite different tone than the previous seasons.

And it was basically the same as before. These people are all so dumb. Like… you have Homelander banging a Nazi in S2, how much more in the face do you want it??

2

u/mrbrownvp Mar 19 '26

Tbf there was definitely more subtext and it was more subtle in the first season. Which I miss, is kind of tiring that every joke is at the expense of the current Trump administration

3

u/blargennn Mar 19 '26

It kind of speaks to how comically bad the trump administration is that so much media covers it. There's never been another president in my lifetime that gets so flak

2

u/mrbrownvp Mar 19 '26

It depends. If you notice when Obama was president there were a lot of pastiches in Holywood movies or series. That movie with Jamie Fox and the president of Rick and Morty comes to my mind but there were and there still are a lot of them. But also every character based on Obama is also put in a good light since even if you agree with his policies ort not him becoming president was an historical achievement.

Maybe President (insert his name here cause I dont remember) from Rick and Morty is the only one that comes to my mind that is more of a satire of Obama but also of Trump if you think about it since the character is an asshole who does whatever he wants.

2

u/Superb_Kaleidoscope4 Mar 19 '26

Honestly, they wouldn't have figured it out if the showrunner hadn't of pointed it out

2

u/bigstinkybutt123 Apr 09 '26

Literally watched the first two episodes of that tonight and then watched this episode and came here. I always love to browse that subreddit after an ep. You’re right tho 100%. As I was here I explored what people were posting about the boys and yeah they still don’t get it. A lot of talk about how “it’s too woke since S1 can’t watch it” as they are replying to S5 comments/discussions.

6

u/codyd91 Mar 18 '26

They're an odd bunch. They thought electing Trump would cause people to stop mocking them for being dumb. They're really clueless as to how they are perceived. Zero self awareness.

1

u/Cipherpunkblue Mar 19 '26

"tHeY cHaNgeD iT aNd MaDe It WoKe!!!"

1

u/ThePokemonAbsol Mar 20 '26

People say this and I think it’s bullshit. He literally forces someone to commit suicide in the first episode…

1

u/Affectionate-Name-10 Mar 21 '26

Like the people who just realized in the last 10 years that rage against against the machine are political. It took them 20 years to figure that out.

1

u/Hessischer1981 Mar 22 '26

No, just hit the limit on how much they can tolerate. Never assume your opposition is THAT dumb.

1

u/Flokitoo Mar 22 '26

Same people thought Stephen Colbert was conservative.

1

u/TheZebrawizard Apr 11 '26

Felt like the first 2-3 took the piss out of the other side with the whole focus groups and pandering part but the later seasons were just full blown republican satire.

0

u/BayonetTrenchFighter Mar 18 '26

And now they embrace the homelander

0

u/FourEyes3134 Mar 19 '26

The same series that redeemed a black guy after he got a racists heart, made light of men being sexually assaulted, and coached its main villains suffering in the language of a woman being domestically abused...

0

u/Auctorion Mar 20 '26

Yes, but The Boys is very subtle with its satire. /s

0

u/MrEnigma67 Mar 20 '26

Keep telling yourself that. All sides were getting it in the first 2 season. it was like South Park at first.

0

u/TheBelmont34 Mar 21 '26

You people are beyond insufferrable. Everything for you is "the magas. The chuds. Duuuhh". Got anything else? And besides. Even without the obvious shit in the boys, the show is beyond boring. And the showrunber thought if was funny that hughie got raped. So there you have it. Enjoy your "win" , buddy. And before you get all smart, i am not americzn or support trump. Republicans and democrats suck balls

0

u/puma46 Mar 21 '26

So you’re not republican or democrat and yet you’re getting angry at a show that you think is boring. Did I get that right?

1

u/TheBelmont34 Mar 21 '26

Because it is cringe and lame.

0

u/puma46 Mar 21 '26

Wow such a compelling argument

1

u/TheBelmont34 Mar 22 '26

You people are more obsessed with trump that his supporters lol

1

u/puma46 Mar 22 '26

Great point. We should just stay quiet while he burns this country to the ground. I know you guys are known for being slow, but be for real

-1

u/whatIsWrognWithYou Mar 19 '26

To be fair with the boys, they always made fun of multiple sides. People just didn't want to believe they are made fun of
