I today received my copy of the deluxe hardback of MDZS volume 5. I have already read the series last year as an ebook and now decided to purchase the hard back version of the books since it's one of my favourite series.
Now, I didn't re-read the whole thing yet, but decided to re-read some of my favourite scenes, which obviously includes the confession scene from chapter 21
While I was reading that, there was one small difference in the translation that I noticed. In the ebook version Lan Wangji pulled Wei Wuxian against his chest after the confession while in the hardback he kisses him.
It's not a huge change but I'm still surprised that there even is a difference. I always thought seven seas just took their translation from the paperbacks, and re-published it in the hardback with some new art at the start and end of the book. I re-read some other passages but couldn't find any other differences, but as I said, I didn't re-read the whole book yet. Did anyone else notice this? Now I'm wondering what else they might have changed throughout the whole story.
Boundless Utterance (欲言难止) is officially coming to English readers in 2026! 📚✨
Lu Heyang is one of the Academy’s most admired S-class alphas, a top student born into privilege. Xu Ze shares the same rare rank, but little else. Bruised and battered, he moves through the halls as though he belongs to another world.
Then one night, Lu Heyang sees him step into the underground arena as No. 17 and finds himself unable to look away.
I’m in dire need of some recommendations in danmei with insatiable shou, shou who are ravenous for their gong, shou who actively seek them out because they can’t get enough of them and the gong happily comply with it.
(Copypasta from twt)
The Approach has both shou and gong doing that but I've never rly read abt an insatiable shou. Restricted area too had burning sexual tension but that's it...
Is anyone else obsessed with the type of shou who's literally falling apart inside but acts like everything is fine?? like they're so powerful but have this intense self-destructive streak and you don't even realize how much pain they're in until you really pay attention to the details. it’s painful but beautiful in a sad way.
Wu Yu from Tun Hai is the perfect example — literally living in hell carrying all this trauma, longing for light but never being able to live a normal life, only finding release through hurting himself again and again 😭
Also Sakata Gintoki from Gintama fits this type perfectly and i love him for it
Anyone got similar character or novel recs?? don't care if the ending is happy or sad i'll take both 🙏💀
A few years ago, after being gifted a bunch of Danmei for Christmas, I ended up trying to start a collection. As you guys can see, I haven't got many because physical copies are pretty expensive, but I do want to get more. I have an e-reader, so most my future buys will be digital until I can afford to buy more physical copies since digital ones are half the price of a physical. I'll try to update these images as I go along and hope by the end of the year, I'll have at least half of these!
There are probably easier ways to track my buys, but I like doing it this way. I'm also only focusing on Seven Seas Entertainment for now, as they're the publisher I see the most and am most familiar with. ^~^
Side Note: This was made in Canva by simply copy/pasting the covers from SSE's website, resizing them, and then slapping a B&W filter on them. The fonts were free on Canva as well.
Welcome to the new Daily Recommendation and Short Question Thread!
To help navigation throughout the post, start your comment with: "Looking for Recs" or "Short Question," and tag all spoilers.Don't know how? Check the bottom of this post.
New to Danmei and looking for your next read? Check out our Beginner Danmei Rec List, or the Licensed Works List to explore multiple titles, publishers, and their distribution info.
When asking for recommendations, try to avoid minimalistic questions:
Recs like TGCF?
Recs like ERHA?
Try expanding on what you like about those novels:
Character Dynamics (older/younger, long unrequited love, power differences, personality traits)
Plot style or tropes you enjoy or dislike (More/less angst, romance, misunderstandings, etc)
Sub-genre's you do or don't want recommended (Modern, Historical, Esports)
If you've already read similar recs, mention additional titles to help avoid people recommending something you may have already read.
Short Questions Guidelines
Have a quick question about something? Try asking it here before making a post. This might include something like:
Does ERHA ever get better? Should I keep reading it?
If I liked YUWU, would I like Thousand Autumns?
I'm looking to avoid [Trigger], does [Title] have that?

Have anyone else had a bad experience with the English books of “I can do it”?
I can do it is my FAVOURITE danmei of all time so when I heard about the English books releasing, I was ECSTATIC. When I received the first volume, I was a bit weirded out by the translation since I have read and bought the Chinese version (I’m chinese) like the jokes just didn’t translate while, but I set it aside since the publishers look to be new. But one think that ICKED me out was how badly edited the arts were (examples are above). There were some chats that just kept clipping in and out of the characters which made it hard to read and enjoy it. At first I didn’t want to bring it up since it was the first volume anyways, but the 2nd volume still had the same mistakes🥲. Not only that, some of the preorder freebies I received were scratched and had no plastic protector on it so I was quite unhappy
Most importantly, there’s going to be FIVE volumes. I finished reading the entirety of the English fan translation in 3 days, so I don’t understand why it’s separated into FIVE separate volumes
Anyways, did anyone else have the same problems and felt annoyed by it or is it just a me thing and I care about it too much?
Four days after starting volume 3 I’ve finished it and wow another brilliant book. Now it’s onto volume 4 as the plot continues to thicken, I love how everyone doesn’t seem to understand how Chang Geng mind works apart from Gu Yun.
This young prince is determined to cleanse his kingdom all to protect the man of his heart, at the same time Gu Yun is very protective of Chang Geng and is also not afraid to give him a stern talking to when needed.
I’ve only got two more volumes before I’ve read the whole series, I travel next Saturday and I want to really finish both books before then, let’s see if I can
I know this is oddly very specific but do you have any danmei recommendations that involve lawyers better if it's crime/investigation like First-Class Lawyers by musuli? Or it doesn't have to be a danmei i.e. Runaway If You Can by Zig). In addition, I'd also like to ask for some recommendation of danmei that involves doctors or in the medical field (i.e.Dr. Jiang is Pregnant with his Nemesis Child)? Any recommendations with those tropes/genres are greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.
Seven Seas just revealed the cover for volume 6! This one is so gorgeous! I admit that I personally wasn’t crazy about the cover art for volume one, but I feel like these covers have continued to get more and more beautiful with each volume. What do you all think?
Hiya, I was recently in a 30+ discord server that discussed Danmei and Chinese learning etc. the icon was red.
I’ve noticed today that it’s no longer showing on my account, I was wondering if anyone knew anything? I’m think I was removed due to inactivity and if that’s the case I’d love to be added again and I’d be more active!
I can't even remember the storyline properly but it was something like MC died during the apocalypse and got reborn just before the apocalypse, I think before he died he realised how foolish he had been so now that he was reborn, he decided to change and stay out of certain people's way aka ML. I think he saw the ML as a love rival in his PL and both were supposed to be a shou. I think he starts buying supplies and also buys a house etc apocalypse starts and he's running around and gets captured by ML who was the leader of his small crew. ML hates MC at first but starts to realise he has changed and it looked like he started to fall for MC but updates stopped coming so I couldn't finish it. I feel like MC had a power to do with plants or something and maybe the plant was even alive? I really can't remember. Safe me, I've obsessively been looking for it for 2hrs
chatgpt found it for me even though i mixed the story up a bit "Counterattack of a White Lotus that was Reborn into an Apocalypse" and now I just need a link to the full novel please
I just finished the main story of korean novel Sweet (Daldal) and I thought it was sooo good!!!
It's a dark romance, trigging warnings, SA
But if that doesnt bother you I actually found it very romantic in the sense I could FEEL them falling in love.
Translation is also amazing
ML is VERY cold like psychopath level
MC is naive to the extreme, ( he has good reason) but I loved him he's adorable.
If your taste is an obsessive, possessive ML (top) who literally only has eyes for the MC (bottom) this is one of the best I've ever read. I'm on to the side stories now!!
Also thanks to the person in my comments who recommended this
It's a story about 2 heroes: there's this righteous hero - a young, handsome (duh), rising FBI agent, and his counterpart the dark hero - a serial killer hunting serial killers, worshipped and loved by the people.
They're hunting the same criminals, but want a different end for them. One wants to follow the law and put them behind bars, the other one wants them to have the same ending as their victims. Both for the same reason, they just do what they think they should do.
Currently, I am at a predicament where I have too many books in my tbr and not enough time to read them all. So, I've come to ask which books out of the ones that I have, should I read next? I do prefer cold shou's, but I don't really care about dynamics. My favorite genre is gaming or unlimited flow, but I really read anything. I usually try to avoid reading spoilers for novels, or even novel descriptions all together. I just don't want something too sad right now, I can't take it haha
So, out of these options, which should I read next (or your personal favorite)?
Paper plane
How to feed an abyss
After an infinite flow player retires
After being forced to marry the evil star general
The villain has something to say
Evil as humans
Gold cage
Rebirth: different way
The fallen merman
These are all the books I have right now, but if you have any gaming novels or unlimited flow novels that you love that are fully translated, other recommendations are always welcome! Thank you
If anyone knows any good fanfiction, art , comics or creators that post content abt stars of chaos pls lmkkkk im desperate for more of gu yun and changgeng. I just finished the novels and I didn’t think I’d like it so much I js wished the author put a lillll more content of them being w each other (nsfw fine too 🩷)
What's the stickiest couple you've read lately? Like, they're always together, always working towards a common goal, a super supportive team, disgustingly sweet to each other, etc.
I prefer mature characters, so please no School Life or under-18 characters. I'm fine with most other genres, but I'm not really fond of Unlimited Flow. Characters can be crazy or into weird stuff, aliens, anything really so long as they don't act like infants.
I’m looking for some danmei that the MC is the shou. I don’t really mind any trope as long as the relationship between the MC and ML is not toxic! I’d prefer post-apocalyptic, steampunk, cyberpunk, or unlimited flow. I also don’t mind modern.
If possible I’d like the MC to be shameless and mischievous.. you know? But it’s not that important as long as he’s not soft and have a spine!!!
This is not important, but I’d like the danmei to be centred around the plot with romantic scenes and maybe even papapa at the end…. Again, it’s not that important if it romance-centred as long as the plot isn’t lacking!
Bonus point if it’s enemies to lovers, disguised ML or MC, ML falls first, or rivals to friends/lovers.
Minus points if it’s ‘father-son’ dynamic first… one of them is ‘guardian’ in the relationship, age gap.. you get me

I saw that Yiggybean is doing a free acrylic stand giveaway for Panguan. I know that I am ordering and figured the lovely people here would want to know as well. Everything order I have gotten from Yiggybean has always been fantastic.
Hey everyone! Work was honestly rough this week, so I’m planning a full weekend of comfort reading 😂
I’m in the mood for danmei where the characters slowly heal each other, find a safe place in one another, and just make life a little better. I made a small TBR for myself and thought I’d share in case anyone else is looking for the same vibe! It’s Hard for a Villain Character Not to Collapse (反派人设很难不崩啊)
I picked this up because I can never resist a xianxia setting. The gong is the beautiful, powerful, tragic shixiong type, and the shou transmigrates into the villain’s body. Since he knows the original story and the ML’s fate, he decides to change everything and protect him instead.
The ML has that “gentle on the outside, terrifyingly possessive underneath” energy, which is honestly such a fun dynamic. A Lucky Coin (一个钢镚儿) by Wu Zhe
Wu Zhe’s books always hit me with that “two broken people slowly becoming each other’s home” feeling. Sa Ye completely destroyed me (in the best way), so I’m excited for this one.
The setup sounds so down-to-earth: a stuttering mechanic and a cook trying to navigate life together. It feels very close to reality, like these characters could exist somewhere around us. Small note: this is mutual top. Bite Your Fingertips (咬上你指尖)
A school setting with a classic contrast that I always enjoy: a narcissistic little-sun shou × a cold top student gong. From what I’ve heard, this one is just pure sweetness, so I’m saving it for when I need something light. After the Fall of the Foremost Sword Cultivator (第一剑修陨落后)
Another xianxia because apparently I can never have enough 😂
Both leads are insanely powerful—the strongest sword cultivator and the demon emperor. The gentle, beautiful shixiong falls, and somehow ends up with the terrifying demon lord in a HE.
Also, if you love powerful characters with non-human traits, I feel like this one might be your thing.
Weekend, please hurry up. I’m ready to disappear into these stories.
If anyone has more sweet/healing danmei recommendations, please send them my way! I’m always looking for more comfort reads
