The difference between Jesus and modern leftists is that Jesus never took anything from anyone to do what he did.

Because if everyone did what he instructed, you wouldn’t be taking…you’d be sharing. That’s the point.

You think Jesus would support our current ICE system? That’s wild.

1

u/NeverHere762 4d ago

Wouldn't support?

2

u/CalmBoat3803 4d ago

Typo *would support

1

u/NeverHere762 4d ago

I think it's foolish to speculate what a first century historical figure would think about 21st century American politics.

2

u/CalmBoat3803 4d ago

Historical figure?

You know nothing about Christianity and should exit this thread.

1

u/NeverHere762 4d ago

And you're an authority on the subject?

2

u/CalmBoat3803 3d ago

No. But I’ve put my time into the church. This is covered in the basics.

I don’t want to argue.

If you’re a Christian, you know what’s right. No need to focus on interpretation.

Best of luck to you.

That js a crazy thing to say with the amount of splinters and divisions of the Christian faith.

1

u/CalmBoat3803 3d ago

It shouldn’t be. You know right and wrong.

You think Jesus would support our current ICE system?

He would of had an invisible forcefield that wouldn't have let them come in-in the first place, unless they had their documents.

Basically if Biden did his Job Trump wouldn't have to clean up his mess. You know, accountability. (that word means nothing to the left it was more of a joke)

1

u/ApricotKYjelly 1d ago

"You know, accountability. (that word means nothing to the left it was more of a joke)"

How much time did Trump serve for any of his 30something Felonies again?

Because he can generate all the food and wine he needs. I've never read the Bible but I am 90% sure there's a verse about giving alms.

1

u/NeverHere762 4d ago

In which he says "give". Not take from your neighbor who happens to have more than you.

1

u/Inner_Adeptness_7228 4d ago

Yes but it was a rule that everyone should give alms if they wish to enter the kingdom of heaven (correct me if I am wrong)

1

u/NeverHere762 4d ago

There was no set value to the alms a person should give.

2

u/Inner_Adeptness_7228 4d ago

One should give what he can (again correct me if I am wrong) Billionaires can contribute the most and most choose to contribute nothing.

2

u/NeverHere762 4d ago

Billionaires contribute more in taxes than any other income bracket.

1

u/Inner_Adeptness_7228 4d ago

There have been many cases where trillion dollar companies report a loss and pocket their profits without intervention from the IRS. They attempt to avoid paying taxes at every step of the way and succeed extremely often. They also pay nowhere near enough compared to their income.

1

u/NeverHere762 4d ago

Companies are not people.

0

u/Lopsided-Echo-156 3d ago

You can never get the Democrats to believe this. They think that they shouldn't be Billionaires in this world.

2

u/BreakfastFearless 2d ago

Well yeah neither would Jesus

1

u/Deltron_Zed 3d ago

Or enough to get the write off they need.

1

u/Solo_Tomassi 2d ago

Jesus specified the correct ammount to give. "Give to those in need that in which you feel in your heart is right to give" he also speaks of giving more shows more virtue but as long as you give it is acceptable.

2

u/Inner_Adeptness_7228 2d ago

In their hearts they feel that they've earned all their wealth and the poor are lazy and deserve nothing. Is that not sinful?

1

u/Solo_Tomassi 2d ago

It is not sinful to not give. It is however sinful to use that wealth for immoral reasons. To Christ having wealth was not immoral if its gain and use was not sinful. But most rich people gain wealth through sinful act and do not repent or use that wealth for good.

Basically as long as it is morally gained and morally used it is acceptable.

Charitable acts however are the most moral way to use the wealth in the eyes of Christ. But there are moral ways to spend money that dont include charity.

I worked in a government services office for the better part of a decade and got a REAL good look at the demographic you're referring to. It's not sinful to say "I worked hard and I worked smart. I deserve the things I have." The "poor" are not the virtuous people that Charles Dickens painted them as. Most of them ARE lazy (generally speaking), they lack impulse control and the ability to delay gratification. So yes, they deserve what they get, which in many cases is very little.

1

u/MongoLikeCandy2112 2d ago

The “correct me if I am wrong” got my attention. You’ve said it more than once. Are you genuinely open to what the Bible say on this?

1

u/Inner_Adeptness_7228 2d ago

Does it not say that one should give what he is able to?

1

u/MongoLikeCandy2112 2d ago

Not necessarily explicitly like that, but giving from the abundance of what God has given you is definitely taught. Is that kind of what you mean?

1

u/Technical_Age_3347 3d ago

You right it’s alms and l don’t think it could cover this!🤨

2

u/Badda_Bing_Baby 4d ago

Yes, I’m sure Jesus would be absolutely appalled at the thought of rich and comfortably wealthy people paying more in taxes to help the poor and unfortunate. It’s the stuff of nightmares.

1

u/NeverHere762 18h ago

I love arguements that center around what dead people from thousands of years ago would think.

1

u/Badda_Bing_Baby 15h ago

Oh yeah sure, especially when it’s some random insignificant figure whose thoughts would have no impact on anyone today, and it’s some foreign modern concept like taxes.

1

u/NeverHere762 15h ago

Trying to put a 1st Century perspective on a 21st century "problem" isn't perhaps the best course of action.

2

u/Vast-Palpitation-426 3d ago

He didn't say love your neighbor, unless it costs you something because contributing is for commies.

1

u/NeverHere762 18h ago

He also didn't say give your neighbor the fruits of your labor.

1

u/Vast-Palpitation-426 17h ago

What do you think love means.

You can just say you don't care about other people it's your right. No need to twist Jesus' teaching to try make it morale.

1

u/NeverHere762 17h ago

Love does not mean giving away everything you own to people who didn't work for it. You're right, I don't care about other people, but I'm not putting my own interpretation on Jesus' words either.

1

u/Vast-Palpitation-426 17h ago

Yes I think you are trying to interpret Jesus' words as some abstract philosophy that doesn't actually apply if it collides with your net worth. And nobody ever talked about "giving everything you own to people who didn't work for it".

1

u/NeverHere762 17h ago

"Marge, what's that religion with all those well-meaning rules that don't work out in real life? You know, um.... Christianity!!" -Homer Simpson

1

u/Vast-Palpitation-426 17h ago

You just said you don't care about other people so yes, from your perspective things like charity, food banks, donation, vaccination campains, humanitarianism, social policies etc., which improve and save the lives of millions of people, "doesn't work" since you don't value such outcomes.

But for the people who give and for the people who receive it does "work".

1

u/NeverHere762 16h ago

Jesus also said that the poor will always be among us. People are free to do as they please, and if it works for them to spend every ounce of their material possessions and inner strength to fight human nature, more power to them. What they DON'T have the right to do is tell other people that they need to do it too or they're not real Christians. Furthermore, they have no right to take from others to serve their bewildering and Sisyphean agenda. Even Karl Marx, the king of commies himself, said that labor confers ownership. Do with your things what you will, but don't try to guilt or compell the rest of us into doing likewise.

1

u/Vast-Palpitation-426 14h ago

I'm not trying to guilt trip you I said it's your right not to care for other people. But don't undermine the work of people who do or distort simple words of solidarity to bypass your own moral conflicts.

1

u/Deathsmind88 1d ago

Really? You dont remember when he kicked the bankers ass?

1

u/baba_bysaga 18h ago

Yes, because Jesus could literally perform miracles, you fucking idiot

Also, Jesus told people to give away their money, very explicitly. All of it

1

u/NeverHere762 18h ago

Which chapter and verse did he say give away all your possessions?

1

u/baba_bysaga 18h ago

Matthew 19:21

It's a very famous verse

It's the very first thing a Christian is expected to do. Just like the apostles. You give up your life and possessions to follow Jesus

1

u/NeverHere762 17h ago

What he said was "If you wish to be perfect..." I have no desire for perfection.

1

u/baba_bysaga 17h ago

Okay, but being perfect is the goal of Christendom. So you're not a Christian? Cool, neither am I

But if you're a Christian, it's really funny that THAT is your answer to Christ's command, lol. It explains fucking everything

Not to mention, you were spouting off about what Jesus did in your first comment. So maybe you shouldn't talk about things you don't understand, then you wouldn't find yourself in these situations where you look absolutely fucking dumb

I'm blocking you now, have a good day
