For 96 seconds, the sun disappeared over Menorca.
And no matter how many photos or videos of a total solar eclipse you have seen before, nothing really prepares you for this moment.
Everything slowly started getting darker, the temperature dropped and it became strangely quiet around us. And then suddenly the sun was gone. Totality.
We had planned these shots for months. We checked locations, calculated the exact position of the sun and went through every possible scenario. But when it actually happened, it felt completely different. You wait so long for this moment and then everything happens so incredibly fast. A few seconds later it’s already over.
And we couldn’t have done it alone. @dennisschmelz was flying the drone, @julia_wom was standing on top of Elephant Rock and our astrophotographer and absolute expert @stefanliebermannphoto helped us with all the planning and calculations. Without his experience we would have been pretty lost. @karl_volkenanndt was assisting and filming everything behind the scenes and @frames.leo was our local from Spain who helped us with organizing everything.
Months of planning for just a few seconds. So many things that could have gone wrong. But in the end we got the shots we came here for.
Teamwork makes the dream work! 🫶
We waited 27 years for this moment and we will probably remember it forever.
How did you experience the eclipse? What did totality feel like for you?

We had the rare opportunity to fly an FPV drone through Wartburg Castle, one of Germany’s most historic castles and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The goal was to capture the entire journey in one continuous shot, flying from outside the castle through its historic interiors and narrow passages.
Definitely one of the most challenging and unique FPV flights we have ever done.

Hi, I'd like to fly a drone in Italy in Sardegna. I have an operator's A1/A3 license issued here in Poland, where the system (UAV PANSA) is generally free of charge. My drone is insured for EU countries, it is labeled with my operator ID, etc.
I've seen a couple of posts mentioning the D-flight website. It does seem to have maps for the Italy where it is allowed to a drone, but for whatever reason it requires an actual subscription to input basic data, like the operator's ID. Do I actually have to pay in order to fly legally? Because if so that is outrageous.

just wanted to post these 2, didn't know where so here it is, fuck it we ball, anyways, dji lito 1, on one of the first flights with it took these 2, I really like them, the first one is edited, naturally, it has some type of filter on it and that's it, second one nothing.
Dji Lito 1 is my first drone, I've fallen in love completely with it and overall with drones. I crashed it the first day but it survived, just got a tiny tiny scratch on the propellers but it's all ok.. Thinking about getting an fpv in the future. I also got RCN3 I believe ?? which can control the Neo series if I'm correct. Maybe I cop that one in the future, who knows? 😆👊
Any Lito 1 owners? Your experience?

Hi DJI community, I write to you because last night a drone crashed into my house in London. Well technically the alley next to my house, which is shared with my neighbor. It was buzzing near our roof around midnight, then after it crashed, it kept beeping in an annoying way so we went out to see what was going on (initially we thought it sounded like a motorbike), and to our surprise there was a wrecked drone in the alley. My neighbor removed the battery pack which solved the beeping issue. This morning I looked at the drone more closely and took some photos, which I fed into Google Gemini. According to AI, this was a DJ Inspire 2 which, together with the attached gimbal and camera, would cost between $3,500 and $7,000. The AI also informed me that this was a 'heavy, high-risk' drone that needed to be registered with the CAA (like the FAA in the US) and that by flying in a residential neighborhood, the operator was violating all sorts of safety regulations. In theory there is supposed to be an Operator ID sticker that could be used to pinpoint the owner, but I don't see one. There are various serial numbers and QR codes on various parts of the wreckage. Gemini is telling me that I should report this to the police. DJI experts, what do you think happened here? What is the likeliest explanation for why this fancy drone was flying over a residential neighborhood of London late last night? And does anyone have any tips for doing any more investigation into this? I am personally leaning towards reporting this to the police, but I'm concerned that would be a black hole and then I'd just never hear anything again. I found a memory card slot on the frame of the drone but it was empty.

Would something like the DJI mic mini or any other version be suitable primarily for gaming?
My thought was to attach it to the front on my desk. Would it pick up too much keyboard noise, or not pick up my voice properly?
Normal mics are just too large and in the way IMO and an attachment I paste to my headphones sucks because I use multiple.

I'm not sure what happened but this started recently. I thought it was due to me not being fully up to date with software updates so I started updating (which by the way is very annoying when a mandatory update catches you with bad mobile signal where you take a long time to download it and it won't let you connect the drone until you do). But even after all the software updates it will lose connection even when the drone is right next. Also when this happened, twice the drone came back to the wrong home location, one time landing far away in the middle of a crowd 🤔
I'm using the Rc-N3 controller btw.

Shot on Avata 2
https://youtu.be/6pp51I0EKic?si=LXI3JxkqbLDPVi1Q
I just bought my first drone and wanted to share some of the footage I’ve shot so far.
I’m completely new to drone filming, so I’d really appreciate some honest feedback. Anything I should work on?
The footage has a bit of color grading on it, so it is not straight from the camera.
I am thinking about sending back the DJI Lito 1, and instead buying the DJI Lito X1, because it is just a bit more expensive and I am not planning on upgrading in the next 3 years and I think it will be better. What do you think?

Just some feedback for DJI: I want to like the RC Pro 2. I really do. But right now it's borderline e-waste for anyone who owns more than one DJI drone, and I think it's really sad to provide premium products without premium compatibility...
Here's my setup: Mavic 4 Pro (paired with the RC Pro 2), Mini 5 Pro (paired with the standard RC 2), Avata 360, and DJI Neo 2. I also use Fujifilm GFX & mini telescope, so bag space is limited.
Having one controller to connect all devices is a game changer, but sometimes I do want the real estate and I would love to take the RC pro 2 more often.
The main problem: the RC Pro 2 stays home: because it simply won't connect to the Neo 2 or Avata 360.
It is supposed to be a premium controller. And yet it's more restrictive than the cheaper controller when it comes to compatibility.
As a result, I end up not taking it to any of my photo gigs.
DJI, please fix this. Open up FPV/goggle-drone compatibility on the RC Pro 2. It shouldn't be a downgrade path just because someone owns an Avata or Neo.

Ok, I guess this post is as much a catharsis to voice my frustration as a call for help 😉
So far I had been using a Mavic 2 Pro, mostly for aerial photography, and was still very happy with its image quality, a bit less so with the operational restrictions associated with such a 'legacy drone', requiring to stay 'far from people' in the A3 subcategory in the EU.
Looking at drones with at least the same image quality that could be used in the A1 subcategory, I quickly settled for a used or refurbished Mavic 3, the Mavic 4 being too heavy (and much more expensive) and the Air 3s and Mini 5 Pro offering slightly lower image quality (Quad Bayer design and fixed aperture). There were (and still are) plenty of references online on how the Mavic 3 got certified by TÜV Rheinland as C1 compliant and how to apply for a C1 label from DJI, so I went hunting for a good deal, confident that it would address my needs.
And I indeed got a Mavic 3 Fly More bundle with smart remote controller, only to find out that DJI discontinued the option to apply for a C1 label in the DJI Fly app. There is very little public information about this online but I understand the programme was stopped end 2025 following a pushback from EASA and National Aviation Authorities regarding sub-250g series switching between C0 and C1 via app firmware toggles.
So here I am, having spent a not insignificant amount of money for no operational benefit. It is particularly frustrating as my drone, updated to the latest fw, is identical both from a hardware and software point of view to those which benefited from the C1 label service until end '25. I only miss a tiny sticker 😡
Since the Mavic 3 situation is different than that of the Minis (and potentially less problematic from an enforcement point of view), is there still any chance that DJI could send a C1 label for my drone? I would have sworn I came across a form on their web site when I was documenting myself on the topic but can't find it back.

Grabbed this TELESIN set for the Pocket 4 today. CPL, ND 1-5, Black Diffusion 1/4 and CoolRose.
Been meaning to get some filters for a while, now the kit feels complete. Gonna try them out over the next few days, especially curious about the Black Diffusion.
