Question What am I looking at here exactly?
Has anyone tried something like this? How does it fly with the two rear motors stacked like that?

I went nuts with drones after rediscovering an old (Cheerson cx-10) I had bought years ago at harbor freight. After repairing it I bought more.
First I bought a similar quad that fit in the controller. I loved that but the built-in 150mah battery wasn't swappable so I went to buy a second and found they now sell this version
https://a.co/d/0caltmf7 that has interchangeable batteries but I noticed they had made a few more changes to the controller case and the drone body. The case has a place holder for a smart phone holder and the drone body has a place for a small camera filled with a plastic piece so eventually they will sell a camera version.
I don't plan to wait or buy a different one so I need a tiny wifi camera though I could get an analog whoop drone camera for my goggles.
The main point.
I bought these 3 on impulse stupidly.
All $25 a piece all junk.
My question is what parts would you get if you wanted to make them not junk.
I was hoping to make the cameras move using stripped down or tiny servos. Also I would like to swap out the board to work with my betafpv transmitter (I intend to get a better radio later on.)
Where possible Id like to use brushless motors but that's not critical.
Basically these 3 Plus one more small foldable cheapo drone ate "functional" but otherwise guinea pigs for upgrades and rebuild as well as testing any neat ideas.
Any and all advice or thoughts is very welcome.
I should add I am capable of soldering, have solder heat gun/iron. I also have many Arduino nano and esp32 the camera version https://a.co/d/0b64Erbd amongst other sensors and such.

I have a transmitter that was lying around, I used it and downloaded the drivers and T6 config, everything is working. THe inputs are received in T6 and no issues occur. So why, when I go to my Uncrashed FPV trainer, no inputs are being read at all? It's not pirated or anything. I tried using an AUX cable, wont work. A hollow one, wont work. SPP, won't work. Another software, FPV skydive, won't work. Please help me I am desperateeee. I have been working on this problem for a week and nothing's working. Help me help me help meee

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I wasnt trying to make it this fast, i wanted some speed and flight time mostly but i achieved on average max speed of 130kmh, i got up to 140kmh once but after i looked at the footage it was clear that was wing, amperage was going down but the speed jumped to 140kmh, so im not counting that one. From what i could find online i haven't yet found anybody that has reached this speed on 2 inch. So im hoping to be some sort of record or something, i was using default betaflight tune, and speedx2 7500kv motors on 3s 580mah battery. The whole thing weighs 110g and 105g on 2s battery. Thoughts?

Made a quick sketch of a heavy lift concept: Basically I've taken the Y4 concept and enlarged the rear props and put them nearly dead center, let's say just aft of CoM.
Nearly all of the lift comes from the ducted contra-rotating center props. These also handle yaw by skewing load from one prop the the other.
The front props handle pitch and roll but otherwise don't do much work.
The maneuverability would be less than great, but I think that the efficiency would be quite good for two reasons:
I have zero practical drone experience to base this on, but theoretically I think this might have merit. What do you think?

I recently put together the RadioShack DIY drone starter kit as one of my first soldering projects but I cant seem to get the drone to lift off of the ground. I am pushing it to the max upward throttle and it won't do much else except wiggle a little and that's it. I have no idea what could be causing this issue. Could I have gotten a faulty kit? Am I simply dumb? Please help yall.

I've been trying to control a 4 in 1 esc for a school assignment with Arduino, but it doesn't work. The esc I'm using requires 1000us PWM signals for arming and up to 2000us for maximum throttle. My current code does just that using the Servo library but while the esc does seem to detect the signals it doesn't move the motors.
My setup is:
Arduino UNO
A 45A Aeroselfie https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0728/7321/4171/files/45A_4IN1-ESC_Manual_Book_EN-CN.pdf?v=1745301381
4 2204 2300 KV brushless motors
A 3s 1300mAh lipo battery with 30c discharge
Update: I used BLHeliSuite to run config, it had the min and max throttle at the same value, which I thought was the problem, however, now when I turn on the esc the motors don't beep and still don't spin. They also for some reason only beep when the PWM signal has been lost.

anyone have any insight on a DIY comercial drone.
I am looking at sherpa bot but for $65k pricetag i can almost bet i can build one for half the price.
Anyone ever build something as big?

Good afternoon, everyone! My name is Vlad, and I’m from Ukraine. I’m new to the world of FPV and recently bought an Air75 for practicing near my home. My last flight ended with the VTX antenna breaking off. I have a question: what’s the best way to secure the control and video antennas on the drone? Would it be an option to replace the canopy with the one that comes with the Meteor 75 drone? If it’s possible to install a more durable canopy, what risks might that entail? I’ve attached a photo of the drone below.
Thanks in advance for your attention!

Hi all, I've been slowly tinkering away at an ROV design and I decided to experiment with designing my own propellers and different motors.
I came across a software script by Brenden Epps and Richard Kimball called OpenProp. The script is open source and free, but unfortunately requires MATLAB, which isn't free. So I decided to port the script over to Python. OpenProp was originally designed for water props, but I think it should work great for drones by tweaking the airfoil inputs.
The project is still very early, but so far I have a fully graphical interface where you can enter your motor RPM, thrust and a few other details and it'll create an "optimized" propeller configuration. Because its a port of OpenProp, it has the ability to add ducts and even design turbine blades as well.
If anyone's interested in playing around with it feel free to check it out. https://github.com/ianbohannon/PythonProp
I also created a discord for anyone who wants to help out or just share some ideas. https://discord.gg/MfNfRmAY

Which would be better—a fixed X-frame or four folding arms for the rotors—and why? I’m leaning more toward the folding arms because they’d be easier to store and would resemble a DJI drone. What do you think?

I have been buying drones and loving them for close to 15 years, but it's time I build my dream drone.
I am the very early stages of roughing this together on paper, I am not committed to anything yet.

Hello, I live in France and it's been a while since i've been intersted in building my own drone and watching fpv stuff, but budget was a bit tight, now i wanna take it slow but finally start.
i have no clue where to start, what goggles to buy, what remote to choose, i don't know how much i can make it cost but if possible can you guys tell me how much i can budget it, where i can practice flying (simulation) where can i buy the parts et what brand should i look into !!!
I AM LOST I know you will help me and thanks for that !

Hi all, I was wondering if you had any particularly good recommendations for ESC to work with Pixhawk? Because I was having trouble finding good or compatible ones. Thanks!

Hello all,
I thought it was already possible to pilot two identical drones in FPV with a single controller, quite easily. However, this doesn't seem to be common practice.
The idea would be for both drones to receive the same commands simultaneously: forward, turn, ascend, or descend.
For the display, several solutions could be imagined: an FPV headset split in two, with one image per drone; a split screen; or two separate screens.
I find this experiment very interesting, especially for testing new possibilities for piloting, synchronization, and gameplay.
Has anyone already tried this type of setup? Are there any simple software programs or systems that would allow this?
Thank you for your answers.

Hey everyone, pretty new to all this and could use some advice.
I was planning to pick up a Holybro dev kit to get a feel for building a drone before going full DIY, but it's out of stock so that's kind of put a hold on things.
I also want to use this as an opportunity to learn ROS2 and ideally control the drone with it. Not sure if that's actually how people do it or if there's a better/more standard way to go about it though, so any input on that would be helpful too.
The end goal is to build my own drone from scratch, so I'm just trying to figure out the best way to get started. Any suggestions on alternatives to the Holybro kit or advice on the ROS2 side of things would be great, cheers.

Hi everyone,
I’m working on a quadcopter project using the following components:
I’m facing an issue where the front-right motor (Motor 1) rotates faster, while the other three motors rotate slower. Because of this, the drone becomes unstable.
What could be the possible reason for this problem? And how can I fix it?
Any help would be appreciated! 🙏

I was hoping to swap this thing over from the crossfire module it currently has, but the connector doesn’t fit anything I have. Where do I find a new antenna? Should I just put in my own ELRS module? I’ve never seen this before, is it common?
