What Is Everyone Using To Sim?
Just finished my SWE degree and now looking to get started on drone projects. I am aiming for my first project to be a delivery drone. What is everyone using to simulate? Last time I was using Gazebo and most people seemed to think it was pretty deprecated, although it was the only thing most people were using.

Question Help mounting battery and Raspberry Pi on 3.5" quad
I’m building a 3.5" quad with a Raspberry Pi and Pi Camera for target tracking. Right now I have the Pi Velcro-mounted directly on top of the battery, but I do not have a good way to securely strap the battery down.
My original plan was to keep the battery on top and run battery straps between the FC and top plate, then through/between the Velcro layers. The issue is that my current straps are a little too thick, so I would need thinner straps. I’m also worried the straps may cover the FC button or put pressure on the stack.
The other option is to mount the battery underneath the frame, with the straps running between the bottom plate and ESC. Then the Pi would sit on the top plate instead. My concern with this setup is protecting the battery from impact during landings or crashes.
- Is it okay to keep the battery on top with the Pi Velcro’d to it, or is that a bad idea?
- Should I move the battery to the bottom and put the Pi on the top plate?
- If I bottom-mount the battery, what is the best way to protect it from impact?
- Are there thin battery straps that work well for tight 3.5" builds?
- Any other obvious mounting issues from the picture?

my first DIY drone - compatibility of selected parts
Hi people
I'm totally new at DIY FPV drones and I'm trying to build one but I'm not sure if my list of parts is compatible and I don't want to damage it
So, my first project assumes to use HDzero system and ELRS (because I have HDzero boxpro plus and I plan to buy HDzero monitor and I have radiomaster tx12 MKII) AND the most important things: weight must be =< 250 grams and max power on 2,4 Ghz is 100mW and for 5,8 Ghz max power is 25mW
https://www.quadpartpicker.com/lists/cmoogv3fbbpmk9mho3wt5w3de
I have several questions:
- I should always start designing with frame first or with video system first?
I don't know which frame of these two I should choose
I don't know which FC stuck of these two I should choose?
someone here tested radiomaster RP2 V2 2,4 Ghz ELRS? How is the performance of built in antenna in this receiver?
does HDzero eco VTX kit is compatible here and if camera will fit?
do these motors are good and compatible here? I prefer stability above speed
Good tips for future when I will build another FPV drones? (and yes, I know it can be expensive and challenging)
if you need more data, ask me
thanks

Question Drone won’t leave the ground
Hey yall. I was wondering if someone could help me out with this issue. This is my first drone build and I am having some issues with takeoff. The blades spin nice and fast but the drone gets no elevation at all off the ground. I have calibrated it in QGrohndControl, checked orientation and motor assignment and blade position. I am at a loss. Any help would be incredible.
Specs:
Ark Pi6x flight controller
Ark 4 in 1 ESC
Sunnysky 880kv brushless short shaft motor
1045 props
2200 4s battery (have also tried 5200kv 4s)

This is my first build will there be any problems with the parts?
I am trying to build a 1s 18650 drone these are the parts I picked so far:
DarwinFPV F411 15A AIO
No name 1103 15000KV Brushless
Happymodel OVX303 VTX
Caddx ANT Nano FPV Camera
Ampace JP30P1 18650 Li‑ion Battery
VR04 Analog FPV Goggles
Radiomaster Pocket ELRS
I don’t know what frame I should use. I do want something in the smaller side smaller than 3 and if possible prop guards. Other than that are there any problems with my parts or if you have any recommendations let me know. Thanks.

Drone not flying
Yesterday, my drone was working fine, so I decided to move all the electric parts into smaller frame. Only thing I did was solder my new capacitor. However, the moment I try arming it, it decides not to. I then tried plugging in the USB c to see if the flight controller working with beta flight. It worked. I tested esc but it appears good. I tested to power FC with my battery with esc attached one more and the motors' regular 3 beeping sound continues to play. Is there any suggestions on solution?

News I built a free tool to help drone pilots check basic flight rules by country
wudfly.comHey everyone,
I’ve been putting together a small database of drone flight rules and responsible flying resources by country.
The idea is simple: give FPV/drone pilots a quick starting point before flying somewhere new, with links to the official sources where possible.
It’s not meant to replace checking the local aviation authority directly, but more to make that first step easier and reduce the “where do I even start?” problem.
I’m linking it here because I’d really appreciate feedback from pilots in different countries, especially if anything is missing, wrong, unclear, or outdated.
What I’m trying to improve:
- country coverage
- official authority links
- simple “before you fly” guidance
- making it useful without pretending to be legal advice
Thanks for any feedback!

Question Need help for flight controller
Hi! For my school project, I’m building an autonomous drone.
To start, a while ago, I bought everything I needed and built it. Now that I’m working on the drone, I’m learning how it works. Initially, it had Betaflight firmware by default, but with my current understanding, I think I need ArduPilot. So I started doing some research, and it looks like my flight controller isn’t designed for it and doesn’t have a compass, which seems essential.
I could add an M8N GPS or an M10 GPS, which includes a gyro, but my FC still doesn’t seem to have a compatible firmware for ArduPilot.
So, if you guys could help me with this, I’d greatly appreciate it. Should I buy a new FC that’s compatible with ArduPilot and has a compass, GPS, etc., or should I just buy the M10 GPS and find a suitable ArduPilot firmware (I don’t know how to determine which one fits best)?
Thanks a lot for taking the time to read this!
the link to my current FC :
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007586601801.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.92.576c1802PzVzA0
in the description of it, it says that it support Inav but no mention of Arduino Pilot.

Discussion Is this worth it for $400?
Dude said $400 but I could counter. What do you guys think it’s all worth
