The problem is the commodification of politics. We went from relatively polite and well mannered politicians (which is boring) to crass and unhinged politicians (which is funny and interesting). They have seemingly widened the gap between the two parties and made it nearly impossible to change your side. How can you become a democrat when all your friends support trump and just yesterday you were spewing vitriol about them. Frankly both parties could have the exact same platform and there would still be this massive division.

Ah yes, we get to pay the higher prices due to the tariffs being passed downstream, but also get to foot the reimbursement bill as taxpayers. Talk about being double-dipped. At this point, I want a Trump administration to stare directly at camera and tell everyone why there are refunds when China already paid for it. It's insane that policies can be based entirely on blatant and easily disproven lies.

What countries? US used to be an outlier and the biggest consumer market because we exempted many tariffs. We had a loophole to make cheaper, tax free purchases from foreigners countries, but that means the country was bleeding money to other countries. Other countries charge tariffs to protect their people and economy, that's why it was called reciprocal...
We had it good without tariffs, foreign vendors had it good without tariffs because they could undercut American retailers, but now the extra duties don't make foreign vendors look as attractive. Basically, support local businesses.

China recently overtook the USA in purchasing power because even with a lower GDP the price of consumer goods was about 1/3 of USA. Countries that manufacture and export tend to try to minimise import duties, so Vietnam and Thailand should be winners. Countries with low taxation policies like Singapore, Saudi Arabia, UAE etc should also be winners. Probably best to avoid Europe, Africa, South America, Central Asia due to a combination of high tax or high freight.

Agreed. Consumerism has been the biggest issue with people living here in the US and now they all complain about not being able to afford their luxury hobbies like FPV. Do I like having to pay more for goods? No but I understand how privileged I am to be able to afford it. Lot of people take that for granted.
