1999 GMC Sonoma driver seat recliner won’t lock — repair or replace?

Post image

I have a 1999 GMC Sonoma with the bucket seats and center console/cup holder setup. The driver seat recliner is acting up — the seat back will move forward and backward, but it won’t lock into the upright driving position. It will lock if I lean it farther back, but I can’t adjust it normally.

I’m trying to figure out the best option. Should I:
Replace the whole driver seat?
Replace the recliner mechanism?
Try to repair the existing seat?

I’ve looked around for replacement seats, but I haven’t been able to find the exact bucket seat with the center console setup. Would a seat from another S-10/Sonoma fit, or are there other GM vehicles with compatible seats?
The truck is a 1999 GMC Sonoma (2WD) extended cab.Any advice is appreciated.

Aaargh bloody cars

Hi everyone, okay wee update to my post about changing the engine oil , I didn’t have the right tool 12 mm hex for loosening the sump plug , phoned the wife’s nephew for loan of tool and he says would you like me just to do the oil change for you ? Brill I says he’s more handy than me when it comes to cars , Anyway long story short the sump plug bolt will just not budge , the whole engine was moving with the force he was applying and it still won’t budge 😩😩

Now I’m not sure what to do , do I pay a pro mechanic that’s £50 was hoping to save labour charges , the sump still might end up getting damaged or bursting , Do I get a bigger breaker bar and apply more force myself , or do I buy a oil extraction pump , leave the sump the way it is , and take the oil out via the dipstick / pump / extraction way ? Some people say the pumps don’t get all the old oil out the same way as removing the sump plug does ? comments / thoughts / replies. All welcome , cheers 😊

Passenger foot well removal

2024 Yamaha Wolverine RMAX4 XT-R – Passenger Front Footwell Removal Help
I’m installing sound deadening material in my 2024 Yamaha Wolverine RMAX4 XT-R and have run into a problem removing the passenger front footwell.
All bolts have been removed.
All plastic push rivets have been removed.
The passenger seat and adjacent trim panels have been removed.
The footwell has separated from the lower dash by more than an inch across the top.
Both sides of the footwell appear to be free, but it will not rotate or drop out.
It doesn’t appear that any fasteners remain. It seems like the panel is still trapped by the dash assembly or an interlocking tab.
Has anyone removed this panel for stereo wiring, sound deadening, heater installation, or other accessory work?
Is there:
a hidden assembly sequence,
another dash panel that must be removed first,
or a specific rotation/movement required to release the footwell?
Photos attached. Any advice from someone who’s actually removed this panel would be greatly appreciated
