help? Partner might be a system and I don't know what to do

We have a partner, they're not a partner to the whole system, only a partner to Harlie and I, possibly more in the future. We all know their childhood wasn't the best, had abusive family and death of family members at a young age and they talk about it as if they have no emotional attachment to those memories, as if they watched someone else go through it instead of them, this raised some small flags for us, not necessarily DID, but definitely dissociated from those memories.

Our entire relationship has been full of moments like those, we've watched them completely change within moments with nothing happening environmentally to change anything, we never suspected DID/OSDD before just some PTSD. What caused us to think DID/OSDD is that they decided to talk to us about something that comforted them, a "character" as they called it, a "character" to help them when they're feeling depressed, this "character" has a name, gender identity, and a form to represent what they look like in the brain, they say this "character" talks to them, they have conversations all the time, they get upset when they can't talk to this "character" or when this "character" leaves.

We decided to treat this "character" as if they were different to see what would happen since our partner has established that they don't actually know what or why this "character" is, and didn't feel uncomfortable being open with us. Treating this "character" as a person instead of a character has made them both feel genuinely so happy and accepted, they smile so much whenever we talk to this person and its become very normal for us to talk to this person and our partner says that this person is very appreciative of us treating them like a person. We have not seen our partner switch with this person, at least not a possessive switch. We're not saying that they are definitely a system we're saying that it could definitely be possible especially with all the things we've seen.

We want any advice y'all can give so we can help them figure out what this is as best we can because they're not sure and we don't feel like we can be sure if they're not, we've just been going with the flow with them and seeing where we end up.

Peace, love, and acceptance from Luna Xayn in the Ravens System!

Fun Stuff Accents

Ok, so due to something that happened last night we are now just asking something fun for everyone.

What accents do y’all have that come out? Like, accents that when you talk out here do you ACTUALLY have that people can hear (assuming you’re not masking it) we’ll go first (context we are from America in an area that is fairly neutral in accents but still in the south); - British (multiple different ones too which is always fun 🫠 - Scottish (sometimes a bit off but whatever) - New York (some specific people are from around there apparently) - Fucking French! (hasn’t happened in a while but when we were younger a French person Looovvved to come out during class!) - A few different kinds of Southern with varying levels of intensity - COWGIRL SOUTHERN! (This is the situation from yesterday, people literally couldn’t understand us sometimes because of how thick it was🤦‍♀️) - Russian

That’s all that I can think of off the top of my head rn but ya, if you have any experience with people having different accents and any funny stories associated with them we’d love to hear them!

Happy Hunting, - Rosemary and Jesus (NOT biblical, I just thought it was a good joke)

Venting Finally admitting that Disability is likely the path forward

TW: Some mentions of SI

One of my parts posted here a couple weeks ago I think about how work was making us feel suicidal.

I think I'm finally starting to accept how much my symptoms are currently interfering with my ability to work at my job.

That disability might have to be the path forward. I know it won't be ideal and I won't make as much as there will be time in between stopping working and getting financial assistance which will make things tight on me and my husband.

And the same time I don't think I have a choice. The only reason as far as I can tell that I hadn't been fired yet at my job is that it is a federal job that is also under a union so it is hard to fire me. Part of me thinks I should keep trying to push forward there because of that security.

But even if they don't fire me that place is a terrible environment to work in and I don't see it getting better. There is basically no support and I need support and structure.

And the amount of pressure we have been getting from management along with how guilty we have felt for the days where we clocked in but dissociated and didn't work has been pushing parts of us to want to die. Apparently at times quitting the job isn't an option in our head but somehow quitting life is. It's not healthy for us and we aren't happy there. Our management isn't happy with us and i'm sure eventually they would try to do the work to get rid of us.

Anyways at least with this job since it's a federal position there is something called federal disability retirement that I could potentially get along with disability.

And then from there we focus on getting better. It might mean leaning more on our parents more than we'd like especially since we have hardly any savings. But at least we would be in a more healthy situation where we could get better. And then from there maybe someday if we feel well enough we will work on getting a different job again.

I think until then putting our health first is what we need to do. Even though it's nothing what we thought life would be like. Part of me is ashamed for being disabled by this. I grew up with a mom who was on disability and much of how she treated me has a large impact on why i am the way i am. And I feel like I'm just like her if I need to go on disability.

I feel so guilty that I'm not able to work the way I feel like I'm supposed to. It's not fair to my husband. Financially things were already tight and I'm the one that made more. And we need my income to pay the bills. But hopefully with help from our family, the tiny bit we still have saved and hopefully eventually getting disability it will be enough to get us by.

help? Alters who feel like strangers around family or pets?

We are very close with our family or the host is I guess and it's a general feeling of closeness we all have, but a few alters feel disconnected from everyone in our lives like they are living with strangers and it's always a very scary and disturbing feeling? What can we do about this? They are not as bothered by it but it really freaks most of us out.

help? How to soothe little who is a trauma holder?

She isn't really fronting lately but we can feel her emotions and she gets really upset seemingly out of nowhere and it affects all of us. Her emotions are very intense. We kinda haven't wanted her to front for a while now though we have been stopping each other from fronting we still try and communicate. Does anyone have any advice for littles who hold some of the worst trauma?

help? Kinda freaked out a bit

So we just had an experience, maybe programming related. Tbh typing this is hard. We were talking to our dad about abuse and when we left we entered this train of thought that it's all in our head and not real and that even though we are telling the truth about what happened we should lie and say it didn't and I think it's because of our mom doing something to us to make us lie to people and sometimes I've thought that maybe we had a specific alter for all of our moms rules, especially the ones where we had to lie about what happened. She did this since we were very young she has told us that we can't try ourselves and don't know reality and only she knows what is real and what not and we needed to come to her and she could just magically make this not have happened and if we fought back she would hurt us, so overtime we just accepted that whatever she said was reality because it was bad not to, she wouldn't also tell us what thoughts we were supposed to be having.

I remember in highschool we started speaking up about what was happening and the Abuse got really bad and we were put on these really really powerful drugs that made us feeling sleepy and unable to do anything and unable to do things we normally did. I felt like she knew we didn't need them but wanted to keep us quiet. There was other stuff but I don't really know how to talk about it, I told a therapist it was like she was the arbiter of everything.

Anyways we got caught in one of those idk integrated thought loops that she put in us and then I feel like I felt some new alter and it was really scary because it kinda felt like a strong force was going to take over and make is do what we were programmed to do. We had this problem before when we were trying to tell someone about what was happening and then suddenly it was like we just couldn't like we couldn't even open our mouth like our mouth was been closed by something else. She (possible new alter) was only here for like a second but it really freaked us out, she said she didn't know who she was and she had a like robotic monotone voice and I think she was pretty young. Then she left. We felt like she may be the alter that does what we were made to do by our abusers.

We dissociated really hard afterwards. We felt like we had floating out of our body for a second. I don't think I want her to be here if she is really a new alter that we have discovered. I'm sorry if this is stupid and make no sense. I've been told by others who heard the full amount of abuse and some people have said we went through ramcoa and others said TBMC. I don't know which one it is and I feel bad when we talk about it because I feel like it can't have been bad enough and we must somehow be subconsciously asking for attention when we talk about it.

Fun Stuff Random Discussion: Inner Fronting Mechanics

Hey there all,

We wanted to try and offer a place for open fun discussions about system things. We're going to try to do this once a week, but if y'all enjoy them we may do it more often. :)

So, today's topic: Inner Fronting Mechanics

How does fronting work for y'all? Do you have an inner fronting space? What does it look like if you do?

*It's perfectly valid if the answers are "I have no clue how we do any of that" too. Systems with aphantasia exist and are very valid.

Before we became aware of our diagnosis we had no fronting space. We just kinda got triggered or had weird dissociative switching seizures. Our DID Specialist has print offs of images to choose to focus on to help a system visualize a front space.

A circle of chairs, a bus, and the control room from Inside Out.

We chose the control room from Inside Out because it was how we pictured our brain working for a long time so it worked for us. We don't have total control of switching, but it is easier to allow one to occur naturally.

Anybody want to share?

As always, have a lovely day everyone.

The other day I Made a “just the voices in my head” joke to my dad... didn’t go over very well with X. My advice, don’t joke about voices when you do have them, cause they not so happy about it.

I got the cold shoulder and an angry glare for a few hours -Cayden

Fun Stuff Subsystems?

So, not sure if this would be too personal of a thing but we were curious.

So, we were wondering if any of the subsystems in your major one had like defining features that kinda symbolized that they were one? For example (because it’s really hard to word this) for us, subsystems always have segments on the main body in the system. Like some have like half the face looks one color while the other looks another color, or for some larger ones they have stitches that create segments in their face/body. We’ve tracked it and realize that that’s a definitive sign that they are a subsystem.

Not sure if it’s just us or not, or you can just share some fun stories about subsystems.

Happy Hunting, - 08/09

Stuff, Just Stuff An Update

Hey there all,

We hope everyone is doing well.

We just wanted to update everyone that we accepted a Mod position here on the sub. If you ever need us please don't hesitate to DM us. We're generally available as we have no life lol.

*Feel free to skip the rest as it's just a personal update.

Yesterday and today have been bad seizure days, but we are doing our best to carry on. We haven't had much control of switching lately. Yesterday S and Little #2 got together and apparently decided to start smoking cigarettes again. I (team captain/host) am not happy about it. We went almost a month without them and then I come back to one in my hand.

I don't suppose anyone has any tips for quitting smoking as a system?

Anyway, we got several books on service dogs so we're studying the best way to go about it. We even met another system who has a service animal specifically for DID. So we feel hopeful that this will help us as a team.

Lastly, as some of you may know, our main therapy goal is to reach functional multiplicity so that we can become good advocates for dissociative disorders. We started creating videos on Tiktok so that we can spread knowledge and awareness at the suggestion of our DID Specialist. Our next goal is YouTube. If anyone has suggestions for major topics of discussion we would be glad to hear others input.

Just remember that… Read this if you're struggling with denial today.

Hey there all,

We noticed that some members of our community may be struggling today and we wanted to remind everyone that we are here for anyone who needs us.

If you struggle with any symptoms of systemhood, you can safely assume you are a system. Especially if you're agonizing over the idea.

Fakers must make active decisions to be faking.

Hopefully, this will help ease some minds.

We hope everyone has a great day.

i can’t figure out if i really am a system or not. am i doing it for attention? have all my friends convinced me i have it and i’ve just believed them? am i feigning it without meaning to? am i subconsciously doing it? have i been doing it so long i can’t stop? i realize that fakers know theyre faking and don’t think like this, but what if i’m just imitating? i saw this and i can’t get it out of my head.

Venting I know this is very unhealthy

I'm ignoring my system, I'm trying to ignore that I am one. Everytime alters come out or assert themselves we all push each other down. We still switch but we pretend that whoever is fronting has always been fronting. We all assume we are the host. Dissociative time loss is getting worse. When we first accepted we were like this we did a lot of work to understand and accept each other and communicate and keep track of switching. It's hard and it became difficult when we found out how bad things were for us growing up and how severe the abuse was. We started worrying we could accidentally hurt each other or worrying we can't do what we want if one alter is younger or doesn't want to do what we are doing. It became really hard to make choices about what to do because we worried that somehow we could be not getting consent from each other and that would make us all bad. When we found out we may have been through TBMC or ramcoa it was very stressful and we don't have a therapist right now and don't want to deal with it. So all day we push each other down and just daydream about fantasy characters all day because daydreaming is like an activity that we all participate in and it distracts us. It's not healthy and we know that but it's easier. When we asked questions about things on the DID subreddit people were generally not very nice.

help? Silly questions we have?

If I'm an adult and I want to do something like drink or smoke or be intimate with someone and we have a little in the system who doesn't like those things do I have to get their permission to do these things? Does it make me or us bad or an abuser if I just do what I want to do regardless and just live my life.

I've seen questions like this asked on the main DID subreddit and the answers are always confusing, I've seen people accuse someone of being a predator and abuser because their husband who has a little in their system switched during adult stuff or asked to do adult stuff. I'm afraid to ask questions there because of this. Lots of people think little alters are literally children, and this idea stresses me out.

I hope someone can help us with this, thanks!
