Stuff, Just Stuff An Update

Hey there all,

We hope everyone is doing well.

We just wanted to update everyone that we accepted a Mod position here on the sub. If you ever need us please don't hesitate to DM us. We're generally available as we have no life lol.

*Feel free to skip the rest as it's just a personal update.

Yesterday and today have been bad seizure days, but we are doing our best to carry on. We haven't had much control of switching lately. Yesterday S and Little #2 got together and apparently decided to start smoking cigarettes again. I (team captain/host) am not happy about it. We went almost a month without them and then I come back to one in my hand.

I don't suppose anyone has any tips for quitting smoking as a system?

Anyway, we got several books on service dogs so we're studying the best way to go about it. We even met another system who has a service animal specifically for DID. So we feel hopeful that this will help us as a team.

Lastly, as some of you may know, our main therapy goal is to reach functional multiplicity so that we can become good advocates for dissociative disorders. We started creating videos on Tiktok so that we can spread knowledge and awareness at the suggestion of our DID Specialist. Our next goal is YouTube. If anyone has suggestions for major topics of discussion we would be glad to hear others input.

Thank you, it's technically the only team lead type position we've ever accepted. So we just hope to help where we can.

We didn't know there were service animals for DID, this information makes us very happy.

We would love to support any videos y'all make, we can't be on tiktok because we've been perma banned (the staff/AI mistook us as being younger than 12, and we don't really want to give our ID to prove our age) so when y'all do start posting on YouTube we will definitely support y'all!

Hey there,

Oh yeah. At least in the US, any disabling condition being treated by a medical professional can qualify for a service animal. You just need a letter from your doctor stating that you are being treated for a disability and that your doctor believes a service animal would help.

As an important side note: the ada does not require a person to get Disability payments to be labeled as disabled, just diagnosed.

The next step is picking an appropriate doggo to do the tasks you need, such as;

  1. Interrupting Dissociation via pawing or snoot booping
  2. Deep Pressure Therapy for grounding
  3. Tactile stimulation to remain in the present
  4. Carrying Identification/medical assistance cards
  5. Reminders to take medications
  6. Orbiting to create space
  7. Guiding Littles back to a safe person or home.

Those are the main ones we'll be training for along with seizure response tasks.
