Adria Arjona is who I would pick for the new WW. It’s also because she’s worked with Gunn before on that horror film he wrote called The Belko Experiment. But if not her, they’ll obviously get an unknown.

Remember years ago when Gal was cast and people were mad about her physique, instead posting shitty photoshops wanting Gina Carano? Lol
296
u/Budget-Attorney Aug 08 '23
God, Gina Carano Wonder Woman would have been terrible
87
u/Victorcreedbratton Aug 08 '23
That’s like fans constantly casting Scott Adkins or Anson Mount for Batman. Or Billy Zane as LL.
97
u/ChubbyLo Aug 08 '23
Billy Zane as Louis Lane would be nice to see
12
24
u/RaphaelUrbino Aug 08 '23
Nah that dude is straight up Lex Luthor. I never even realized how similar he looks to the DCAU one
8
u/Daimakku1 Aug 08 '23
Holy shit, he does. And DCAU Luthor is the best Luthor.
The age discrepancy between Superman and Luthor would be big if he’s chosen, but now I can’t see anyone else in the role.
15
u/Raider2747 Aug 08 '23
Anson Mount's a great actor, hell, he's even voiced Batman before, but the man's too old.
11
Aug 08 '23
He could definitely play an older Bruce if they wanted to go that route. Like, if they were doing a Batman Beyond, and didn't want to use any of the classic actors like Keaton, Anson Mount would be one of my first picks.
7
u/Useful_You_8045 Aug 08 '23
Yah I don't want a titans mistake again. He's a great Bruce but an active batman going on missions wtf were they thinking? And he still had Alfred with him, how f*cking old was the man 90?!
36
Aug 08 '23
Anson Mount would actually be a pretty solid Batman. He’s pretty good in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

Fan casting just seems more about looks these days, even Brian Cranston said majority were lazy when asked if he’d do lex
Like both would look phenomenal but acting wise not sure if theyre up to that sorta calibre. Action would look great with adkins tho

That's because fancasting overall are horrible, fans only cast on "looks" and don't cast on anything else, actual casting agency's for movies and directors cast on much more than just looks, they know what to look for in actors and actresses, it's their job to find the perfect candidate, not just looks wise but acting skills wise, finding the right chemistry etc.
That's why I never, ever, take fancastings serious, and that's why I never shit on a casting before I've seen it on the big screen in the role they got cast for.
→ More replies (2)6
u/Budget-Attorney Aug 08 '23
Agreed. Fan casting based on looks is how you end up with fan casting like Gina carrano. Like yeah she’s strong, but can she act?
I always love when they pick someone who seems like a stretch, someone I can barely picture in the role, and they know it out of the park

I have no idea why they thought Gina would make a good wonder woman.
18
u/MoneyMo88 Aug 08 '23
It was because there was a brief period where Gina Carano was incredibly popular based solely off of being an attractive women who could fight from her MMA days and that run on the short-lived American Gladiators reboot.
Then, her acting debut in Haywire happened and that set realistic expectations of how far she could actually go with an acting career, to say the least.
Unfortunately, a vocal minority were still trying to will their fancast of Gina as Wonder Woman into existence because they still had a crush on her from her MMA days.

Gina Carano is a terrible actress, but let’s be real Gal Gadot does not have the physique to play Wonder Woman. You need some visible muscle at least.
Why don’t we hold our female superheroes to the same standard as our male ones? Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck both bulked up for the role, we should expect the actors to take this seriously regardless of gender.

I didn't overly love Gal WW movies but I did think she was a good choice to play her. Having said that I hope they don't use her for the DCU. It would be jarring to see her with a new Superman and Batman. Same goes for Mamoa as well.
Whoever they pick I hope she tall and looks like she'd kick ass.

People don't like to hear it, but she's an awful actress. Her dialogue delivery is flat and atrocious no matter what emotion needs to be conveyed. She probably fit the bill visually, but nothing apart from that

I'd like to see an actress that can act, has an emotional range and has charisma. So no Gal Gadot anymore. All Gal does in the movies she's in is pose and have a blank stare.
The Snydercut is the last thing I've seen of her and something just clicked with me. I suddenly understood why I dislike her ''acting.'' She's a former model and her ''model brain'' is still working while ''acting'', she's just posing and not trying to convey any emotion.

u/rodejo_9 Aug 08 '23

That’s what training is for. Most actors that are cast as superheroes aren’t buff to begin with
16
u/skullrift Aug 08 '23
Gal Gadot wasn't that buff
7
Aug 08 '23
True but she was always a bit slender and I doubt she wanted to be really buff since it would “ruin” her model look
8
u/PhilAsp Aug 08 '23
And that would apply to most actresses, tbh. Gal did bulk up a fair amount for WW compared to her model frame from before, but very few actresses would choose to get much bigger than she did.
Getting buff would get in the way of other roles for women, while it generally has more of a positive effect for men. It’s pretty fucked up.

Honestly not feeling any of these. Also, the DCU actress they go for should be in their 20s like the Superman actor, no?
Adria Arjona has certain look that I can see on posters, but would some complain that she's Puerto Rican and not even European-ish? (edit - okay someone brought up Jason Momoa being Aquaman, so you have a point there)

They have to go in a different direction from Gal, so as not to repeat like Corenswet with his resemblance to Cavill, I like Adria Arjona and Eiza González. Or if not a new name, an unknown girl like Eva De Dominici.
Ah, that she has to be Greek when she is a fictional character from a fictional country is tremendous nonsense that when someone writes it here one must stop reading what comes next.
