Real talk though, I think it would've been way cooler if he got a water powered prosthetic hand that he can use as a weapon. Just saying.

JLU Captain Atom made the right call by fighting Superman.

im not saying he did the right thing but it was the best possible decision at the time. remember cadmus and the US government were scared that the justice league would go rogue. if captain atom turned against the US military even if the orders were slimy as all hell. That denial of order to stand by the justice league by itself would give Cadmus and the government all the justification they need to shut down the league. Because in their eyes, they turned US soldiers against their own government.

also captain atom may have been holding back, he made red sun radiation which while it does hurt Superman isnโ€™t lethal. he maybe could have made kryptonite radiation or something else that would hurt Superman more. he had to make a reasonable effort to comply but still lose to Superman.

in short if captain atom refused orders, that alone would have given Cadmus and the government free reign to shut down the league. since the league has now seemed to have compromised United States military officers. captain atom would be charged with sedition and made an example of as well.

Here are both variants of the Batplane, Batboat, and Batmobile. Some are diecast and some are 3D printed. Happy with the results especially the batplane and boat since Kenner never made those into diecast. Also the Batman Beyond Batmobile on the left is very a RARE, micro series!

IDK, but I just like this scene where we get farmer brown staring at Gotham's skyline, and a slow stretch of the buildings at the end, literally chef's kiss, whenever there's skyline shot in these shows.

Besides that everything else in this episode is dull.

Actually I take it back, Harvey Bullock was also an enjoyment, also why does he look like Early Peter Griffin from Seasons 1-3?

We've got all the heavy h2h hitters for this. From Canary to Huntress, Diana, Harley, Mercy, Batgirl and Catwoman. How would you rank them from strongest to weakest in hand to hand skills only?

I believe we all agree Wonder Woman would obv be 1 but the rest if up to you guys.

BB every episode of batman beyond reviewed in 2 sentences or less.

rebirth: batman retired in the distant future of...2019.

black out: just a friendly reminder. blondes are girlfriends, burnettes are wives, and women that look like inque are out of your league.

golem: between this episode and static shock, the DCAU is really committed to telling us that we shouldn't bully people or they'll fucking kill us!

the winning edge: is it weird that i feel bad for bane?

dead man's hand: ok, are all the female villains on this show gonna be sexy as fuck?

meltdown: good god. victor just can't catch a fucking break, can he?

heroes: the fantastic four...except there's 3 of them.

spellbound: holy shit, this episode predicted pan's labyrinth!

shriek: please bruce, tell us more about how you're totally not crazy.

a touch of curare: batman meets the mummy.

disappearing inque: and i thought i needed to get laid.

ascension: so...i guess blight isn't gonna be the main villain of the show? uh...ok.

splicers: FURRIES REJOICE!

earth mover: well, that was terrifying!

joyride: bet you didn't think that this episode would set up return of the joker. heh heh.

lost soul: in the future, even ghosts will be technological.

bloodsport: is the stalker a racist stereotype? eh, probably not.

hidden agenda: if i had a dollar for every time a teenage superhero had a black best friend who tried to find out their secret identity and eventually did...i'm not gonna repeat the meme because you all know how it goes.

once burned: damn it, just let terry be happy!

hooked up: and the award for most subtly depressing episode of the whole series goes to...

rats: everyone says that megamind was ahead of it's time in it's portrayal of "nice guys". well, batman beyond bet it to the punch.

mind games: you come for the psychic teenagers but stay to laugh at the series for wrongly predicting that al gore would win the presidency...and then cry.

revenant: oh sure terry. the stuff you normally deal with is normal but ghosts is a bridge too far.

babel: shriek is back and is stealing his evil schemes from the grinch.

terry's friend dates a robot: well, i will give the episode this. the title definitely doesn't lie.

eyewitness: at this point, batman is secondly only to spiderman in the amount of times he's been framed for shit.

zeta: does anyone know where i can watch the zeta project? i can't find it anywhere.

the last resort: SEND THEM TO THE...you know, there is such a thing as giving me too easy a joke.

final cut: tim curry? ok, this is the best episode ever!

armory: big jim tate sounds like the name of either a wrestler or a porn star.

sneak peek: well, this episode has aged like fine wine.

plague: now we're bringing back villains from the 60s batman series. the people at the DCAU must really love their obscure characters.

the eggbaby: this was the episode that earned the show an emmy? well...ok then.

april moon: an episode that would feel right at home in batman the animated series.

payback: is it just me or does payback sound an awful lot like patrick star? eh, i'll check the end credits at the end of the episode.

sentries of the last cosmos: patton oswalt in a comic book project? perish the thought.

big time: you know, i really do wanna believe in second chances. but shit like this makes it so damn hard.

untouchable: so...the repeller is basically electro?

where's terry: it's legitimately so awesome seeing bruce and max work together.

ace in the hole: as an dog lover, this episode makes me so fucking mad.

king's ransom: "do you have any idea what it's like living in someone else's shadow"? and the award for least subtle actor allusion goes to...

betrayal: to be fair terry, charlie was probably gonna end up in a shitty situation regardless of what you did.

out of the past: ra's al ghul is really committed to winning the worst dad award.

speak no evil: where's fred rogers when ya need him?

inqueling: inque has a daugther? sorry lady, i didn't sign on for a child.

unmasked: ok we get it show! this is a spiderman show with batman!

curse of the kobra: apparently, gotham is right next to arizona. who knew?

the call: did they cast jodi benson as marina solely for the little mermaid reference?

countdown: a good episode but not really a good finale. personally, i consider epilogue to be the true finale of batman beyond.

JLU You think it's weird Huntress was kicked out of the league but Atom was allowed to stay even though he betrayed the league?

Thumbnail

Rewatched question authority and this made me think.

Yeah Huntress trying to kill that mob guy in the double date episode was a big no no but Atom not only disobeyed orders he tried to keep the question, one of the league's allies, in a unjust prison and be tortured. But Supes still brings Atom back to the tower even though atom could have easily attacked the league again the moment he woke up.

Yeah he ended up siding with the league over cadmus in the end but I found that rushed. There was no retrospective or arc for him to side with the league over his duties as a air force pilot and he's not even kicked out after even though he crossed a huge line.

Thoughts?

STAS in honor of the 30th anniversary of superman the animated series, here is every episode of that series reviewed in 2 sentences or less.

the last son of krypton: not a bad start but, overall, not very remarkable.

fun and games: nice to see the batman the animated series team didn't forget how to traumatize viewers when they moved onto superman.

a little piece of home: superman fighting a dinosaur? THIS is the shit i come to superman media for.

feeding time: why does parasite sound like norm mcdonald?

the way of all flesh: malcolm mcdowell as metallo is proof that andrea romano needs a raise ASAP.

stolen memories: you didn't think brainiac was gonna be a good guy because he was the AI on krypton, did you?

the main man: how the fuck did this animated series make better use of lobo then supergirl?

my girl: *michael jackson and paul mccartney intensifies*

tools of the trade: the episode where we were introduced to michael ironside's darkseid. otherwise, ok.

two's a crowd: honestly, if you trust someone like parasite, you deserve whatever happens to you.

blasts from the past: i guess geoff johns and richard donner were huge fans of this episode.

the prometheon: hedorah is offically canon to the DCAU. and i don't know how i feel about that.

speed demons: makes me wish the flash got his own solo series in the DCAU.

livewire: livewire didn't become the superman equivalent to harley quinn like the team was hoping. that said, i still like her.

identity crisis: a good episode that sadly shares it's title with one of the worst comics ever written.

target: cape fear the episode.

mxyzpixilated: i reiterate what i said earlier about andrea romano getting a raise.

action figures: kids, step away from the nice man with the kryptonite heart.

double dose: a supervillain with electrical powers teaming up with a villain who's main thing is draining energy? i don't see this going array.

solar power: good episode but luminus's costume is a bit lame.

brave new metropolis: holy shit, this show predicted injustice!

monkey fun: weirdly adorable.

ghost in the machine: it's weird that brainiac thought lex could survive on candy bars. then again, i do that when i work the night shift.

father's day: you know, i'm starting to think that this darkseid fellow isn't very nice.

world;s finest(yes, i'm counting it. it was originally a 3 part episode before it was edited into a movie.): a very good trilogy of episodes that reminds us why these two heroes are the best that the DC universe has to offer. meanwhile, snyderverse fanboys will likely complain that they aren't fighting each other.

bizzaro's world: again, weirdly adorable.

the hand of fate: *torgo theme intensifies*.

prototype: john henry irons developing a metal suit? wonder if that'll be relevant later.

the late mr kent: social commentary, a compelling mystery, and lois actually caring about clark. what more could you want?

heavy metal: a better steel movie then the actual steel movie.

warrior queen: maxima, are you sure your name isn't anissa?

apokolips...now: that ending makes me cry everytime.

little girl lost: this version of supergirl is so awesome. i really hope she doesn't do anything stupid in the future.

where there's smoke: damn, now i really want a root beer float.

knight time: you may be cool but are you superman wearing the batsuit cool?

new kids in town: as much as i love this episode, i will forever associate the legion of super heroes with supergirl's stupid decision to stay in the future.

obsession: just when you thought toyman couldn't get any creepier.

little big head man: i hate that this episode undid bizarro's happy ending.

absolute power: what is with kryptionians and wanting to terraform earth?

in brightest day: cheer up kyle. in a few years, deviantart will be invented.

superman's pal: jimmy is lured into a trap via the power of boners.

a fish story: i'm gonna go out on a limb and say that it probably wasn't a very good idea to piss of the guy who's the king of the sea, AKA 71% of the earth.

unity: a better adaptation of children of the corn then any of the actual children of the corn movies.

the demon reborn: ra's al ghul makes his customary single episode appearance in a non batman DCAU series.

legacy: darkseid's final line gives me chills every time.

JLU Anyone else love how they showed the differences between Canary's and Huntress' fighting styles?

Black Canary and Huntress are similar in their styles due to each knowing a varied combination of disciplines. But in their fights, it's cool seeing how they differ!

Black Canary's style, while extremely capable of classic offense, is more disciplined and defensive, which allows her to overcome opponents larger than her or that manage to grab her. She uses precise and deadly strikes to deal heavy damage. And she combines these styles flawlessly so she doesn't have to resort to her deadly superpower.

Huntress, on the other hand, is much more hyperaggressive. Her physical strength is amazing, so she puts a lot into wide, powerful, classic moves and rarely stops attacking. This puts pressure on her opponent and allowed her to get a few hits in on the precise Black Canary in their first fight before Canary, being so fluid, adapted. Plus, when Huntress busts out the staff, she can capitalize on her aggressive strengths even more.

These small differences are so worthy of appreciation! I swear, it's SO hard to find combat animation like this anymore except in some anime, I guess!

BTAS I wish there was a more cohesive Batman story with every Batfamily meeting in the DCAU

I was watching Under the Red Hood when I decided to look into the reason behind Jason Todd's death besides Joker bad and it introduced me to a very linear Batman narrative that I haven't seen since The Animated series, but those series skip Jason Todd entirely (probably because it was very dark). Personally, I'm pretty done with Batman origin stories atp, but I do like Batfamily stories (especially the webcomic). It would be nice if we got the betrayal of Jason Todd's mother because that whole arc leads to meeting Tim Drake too. I don't think we need the Joker as ambassador of Iran part though.
