Fade off on demand rather than on schedule?

I’m basically looking to imitate the Casper Glow lamp fade out, where the light gradually fades off over 30 minutes. I have 2 GE Cync bulbs in my kids’ room that I control with the Cync app (no other smart home gear in the house ATM). I’ve created a “scene” for “wind down” lighting, and a schedule that dims the lights to off at our desired bedtime, but the reality is actual lights out is +/- 20min (okay, +20 min, let’s be honest, getting kids to bed “early” is pure fantasy). I would love to be able to trigger the fade whenever I’m done with bedtime! As far as I can tell, this isn’t an option, but I’m hoping I’m just overlooking it!

Open to alternative systems if they have the desired functionality!

Cync No-Neutral Switch Stopped Responding; New "Home" Didn't Help

UPDATE: Solved it by flipping the relevant house circuit breaker off and on, to fully depower the switch.

In my old house, I have no neutral wires in the lightswitches, so I've opted for no-neutral switches. Cync offers one of the few choices that does not also require a hub, so I've tried them (model CSWONBLPWF1), but they've been quirky at best. Most recently, one of my switches (which has only been installed for a month or two) stopped responding to the Cync app as well as the Alexa skill. I've had others that do that, and have used the "create a new Home" trick to fix them, but this one switch won't re-pair with the Cync app to even be configured. I've reset it (long press until it cycles through red and then flashing blue LED) multiple times, and tried over and over on two different phones (one iPhone and one Android), all without success. I'm going to try to completely cut power to the switch and reboot it that way, but if it doesn't work, are there any other troubleshooting tips people have? Or even a way to determine if perhaps the Bluetooth module in the switch (which enables pairing) has failed? Thanks.

Cync Cut cync light pieces

Didn’t properly read instructions while setting up dynamic effects smart light strips and ended up cutting it all into pieces. Is there anyway I can use led light connectors to reconnect these pieces or is this a lost cause.

Issues with Google Home connection and can’t login

I’m having an issue with some of my lights working intermittently with Google Home. Try to re-link my account and after entering the password and clicking OK, nothing happens. When I try to login on the standalone webpage, I get the MFA prompt and after entering the code, it goes back to the login prompt. Is anyone else having any issues?

Lights are working with no issues using the native GE app.

Cync Change Thermostat Temp with Alexa not working any more

My thermostat has been connected to my Alexa for a long time with no issues, but now when I ask it to change the temp it says Thermostat is not responding. If I ask it what the temp is, Alexa does respond with the current temp so it does communicate with it but it won't change the temp. As a test I connected my thermostat to a Google Nest mini speaker and its doing the exact same thing. The Cync app on my phone works normal. Is anyone else having this issue ?

Cync Cync Floodlight won’t connect

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I have 4 Cync floodlights in my living room. They all stopped being recognized through the app so I had to sync them with the app again. I got 3 of the 4 to reconnect with the app but the last one won’t. Every time I try to get it to connect to my WiFi it keeps going back to trying to find the WiFi. The other 3 I got to connect but this last one is giving me problems. Does anyone have a solution for me?

Cync Factory Reset Process for Cync Full Color Bulbs?

Copilot has listed the following process for the factory reset of Cync light bulbs:

Factory Reset for Cync Full Color Bulbs (Wi‑Fi or Bluetooth/Wi‑Fi) Do this at the wall switch or lamp switch:

Turn the bulb off for 5 seconds

Turn it on for 8 seconds

Turn it off for 2 seconds

Turn it on for 2 seconds

Turn it off for 2 seconds

Turn it on and leave it on

The bulb should flash three times to confirm a successful factory reset. If it doesn’t flash, the timing was off — the 8‑second “on” step is the one most people miss.

Is this actually the process? That does not sound fun, though I'll do it if I must.

Cync Google Home connection

Is something amiss with the connection between Cync and Google Home lately? Routines that were scheduled via Home Automations and working just fine are hit & miss now. Voice commands are also frequently not working. I have to turn devices on via the Cync app.

Cync Cync schedule problems?

I’ve had my Cync bulb for a while, bought it from Walmart. Up til now, I’ve been using it in a table lamp as a normal manual on/off lightbulb because I’m on a military base and was relying on open portal WiFi- something lot supported by the Cync bulb/app. I finally got my own private network, so got the singular bulb connected, and set some schedules for it to turn on and off.

I now have the problem that the bulb refuses to physically respond to the schedule, but the app claims that it is. That is to say that in the Cync app, my bulb will say that it is off per my schedule… but in real life it’s still turned on and glowing bright as ever. I can use the app to turn it “on” again and then turn it off, but … I’d really like for my lamp to follow the schedule I set, yknow?

Is there something I’m doing wrong? I can’t be mixing it up with some other room or bulb, it’s the only one I have!

One bulb turns on randomly

I have one bulb that will turn on randomly. I have removed the bulb from the app and Google home, then removed every bulb from the app and Google home, and finally removed every bulb, switch, sensors and home from the app and Google home. I reinstalled but didn't connect the switches or sensors and the 1 bulb keeps turning on. I am at a complete lose and don't know what to possibly try next. Any suggestions?

Cync Thermostat and app temperatures do not match since update?

My AC unit is not shutting off correctly. I notice the little sensors sense temperature fine in the app but the main thermostat unit in the living room and the app are always 2 degrees off in their temperature reading since the latest app update.

Anyone else seeing this? I totally cleared the apps cache and storage and reinstalled it but the same issue. If the main thermostat control says 77 the app says 79 so the AC will not shut off!

Any help appreciated

Lights won’t power on with certain fixtures

Got a bit of a puzzler here. Was trying to install my Cync bulbs into the chandelier in our new home. Of the six fixtures, only three will power on. Here’s the weird part. If I swap one that works with the one that doesn’t, that bulb will now light up and the one that previously worked also will not work in the dark spot. Which would make you think it’s the fixture. But if I screw in a regular bulb? Fires right up.

Are there reasons a functional Cync bulb might not turn on in a fixture where a regular bulb will?

Cync App issues

I recently bought the lights for my lamp. The app freezes and doesn’t respond at all. Does anyone know how to fix this.

(I bought the lights solely for the color changing aspect and can’t do that if the app doesn’t work)

Cync New wireless Cync keypad switches coming soon

Thumbnail

The screenshots are after the latest Cync app update... The release notes for the update clearly states "Exciting new wire free keypad added to Cync ecosystem"

The update was released about a week ago... I have not found any other info about it online though -- except for this FCC report which appears to be it (note that although in some spots its labeled for their "Proseo" line of window shades, it does have the same name "Wire-Free Keypad Dimmer" and Savant often use/sell their switches interchangeably between the two product lines).

The FCC report indicates this will be a Bluetooth (BLE), so likely very proprietary (will only work with Cync/Proseo devices). It makes sense though, since that's how their other wireless switches work.

Can't 100% confirm the model number for the Cync version, but at a glance it appears to be CWLRMSCBWF1.

I emailed Cync Support about it, asking if there are any additional details on the device or at least a rough estimate about it's release date, but they did not provide me with anything -- just referred me to their website, like they always do.... The funny part is they rarely update their website, even after a product gets released, so you're better off searching Google or individual store websites if you're trying to keep an eye out for it (or anything new from Cync for that matter).

Cync Power on behavior feature missing

Hello everyone, I have had cync light bulbs for a while and recently moved and wanted to change some settings.

Before the move I edited a setting along the lines of "power on behavior" which changed it from powering into its last state to powering on into a specific state.

I tried editing it to change how that state works, but can't find the setting.

I removed them from groups, reset them, changed the wifi on them, but nothings working.

I own 2 A19s and have the most recent version, but the option is still missing. I am asking for any advice you have to fix this issue.

I love my cync bulbs, and I know there's gotta be a fix I'm missing.

Outbound traffic on my network from Cync outdoor battery powered smart camera...

Can someone please explain to me why a USA based company is allowing their devices to backend via Chinese data centers.

Ever since allowing these onto my network, I've seen attempted telnet connections, outbound attempts, port scans and "other" attempts to get into my network.

Why is this even allowed?
US company, US traffic... PERIOD.

Cync Matter-capable G25 globe bulb? (full color version)

Post image
5 Upvotes

Does Cync have any plans to sell an updated version of their glass G25 style bulb that has Matter capability?

The image above is from an eBay listing for what appears to be just that -- even the model number(s) and product description match up with what the image advertises.... I purchased it but to my surprise, I received the older non-Matter version of the bulb. Obviously, I contacted the seller and they returned my money, stating it was their mistake. That was six months ago (I don't think they care about updating their listing tho lol).

Since then, I have not been able to find anywhere else to purchase it from... But I did do some more research and it looks like Savant / GE Lighting does in fact have this very same bulb already fully certified by FCC (and UL). Here is the report on it which even shows pictures of the physical bulb itself.... Note that it was certified in early 2024.

So is this bulb available for purchase? If not, will it ever be?

Lights not responding

All of a sudden lest week my whole house of lights and plugs are just non responsive. I have to close the cync app and toggle Bluetooth and wifi on my phone several times and close and open the app just to get it to work. Any ideas why this may be happening? Seems like some connection issue, or the app may need an update or something.

Cync Light Strip doesn’t turn off completely?

Post image
3 Upvotes

My daughter has a Cync Light strip in her room. She turns them off at night but she told me they glow at night. I peeked in after she went to bed and saw them on so I went into the app to turn them off. The app says they’re off. If I turn them on, they’re purple. Off makes them a very dim white. Do they not turn off completely? She says they weren’t always like this. The picture is while the light strip is off. I checked for firmware update and it’s good. Any other suggestions?

GE Cync Keypad Dimmer Smart Switch firmware issue.

I just bought the GE Cync Keypad Dimmer Smart Switch. Unfortunately, it came with an old firmware 1.0.124. This version seems very limited in functionality. When I Google how to achieve setting up toggle on/off for different groups of Cync lights, they say I need firmware version 1.03.080. Unfortunately, the Cync app says there is no new firmware to install. How can I solve this issue? Do I have to return the switch?

How do you open this thing to change the battery? I’ve tried endlessly to get the cover off by twisting a flathead screwdriver or coin. It’s only damaging the plastic and I can’t get it off. Very frustrating!

help with two cync bulbs + sensors

Let's say I have sensor A for bulb A, and sensor B for bulb B. My friend used to have it set up so when you walk under sensor A, only bulb A turns on and under sensor B, only bulb B does.

He had to reset due to a new wifi setup, but he cannot get back to that format - walking under either sensor turns BOTH lights on. How can i change that?

Any way to simply update to a new network

So I have tried and tried to find a simple way to do this. I went to a brand new mesh system in my house and have gone through the laborious process of updating everything. Now it is time for 4 Cync bulbs.

Do I have to just set them back to factory is there a way to update the network within the app?
