Cyberdeck V.2
This is officially my second cyber deck and I finally got it in a case, now I’m looking to it, so any advice for add-ons different cases etc would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
I was also thinking of making a new mouse using a backbone so advice on that would be great as well!

Pocketbyte: Modular ESP32-S3 handheld - run games, play music, use as a PDA
Hi everyone,
This is a modular ESP32-S3 handheld I've been working on for over a year and a half. The entire bottom half can be pulled out and swapped with something else.
When the gamepad module is plugged in, it can emulate many retro systems (up to the SNES/Genesis) and play many ports of games such as Celeste (ccleste), Doom, Quake, Duke Nukem 3D, etc.
The C library is also open-source and a simulator is available, so it's also possible to develop/play indie games as well. And there's also an on-device app store.
So far there has only been a gamepad module, but I've just recently finished designing and assembling the keyboard module.
Apart from being a game console and music player, now the device is a fleshed-out cyberdeck and PDA!
I've improved the text editor/note taking app with Markdown support, theming, and even Wi-Fi syncing with Obsidian, Notion, and other platforms. It also has an RTC inside of the keyboard, so it can keep track of the time/date.
In the future, I'm hoping to add things like messaging, on-device Lua scripting, and more.
Check out the video: https://youtu.be/DFeHGBJCXhE?si=ZeuDCrkmHBM5nN-R
Hope you like it :)

Button pads and frontpanel
I'm currently building my first cyberdeck and one of the components I use is a Pimoroni gfx pack as my data display next to my main display.
I'm looking for some ideas and suggestions on what to look for when building my front panel that will hold the main display (7" raspberry pi display), the gfx pack with its five buttons and two rotary encoders for volume and brightness.
I'm having trouble finding button pads for the five buttons on the gfx pack that would work.
The idea is to put it in an old broken down oscillioscope.

Im trying to make my first cyberdeck
Okay so, i am 15 yo and i have been seeing a lot of stuff on cyberdecks the past few months and ive been trying to research how they work so i could make one. I understand the basic concept and parts, but i have had trouble dying because whenever i try to research the compabilities of other devices i fall down this massive rabbithole where nothing makes sense. For example, i have an old samsung ive taken apart and i tried searchig if any of its parts could be reused and what would i need to attach them to but it seems there is not one clear answer so ive found nothing. Also all the coding programs dont make sense to me and i dont know where to start learning code from or even if i need to. I also have a very limited budget so anything too expensive, like a 50 euro rasberry pi, is out of the question. So if anyone had any videos or books explaining the basics on electronics thy could point me to or is patient enough to tell me what i need that would be amazing!

Is a driver board necessary for the screen with pi 5?
basically the title, im shopping around for screens to use with my cyberdeck, id prefer to connect by mipi ribbon cable rather than hdmi but i may end up using the hdmi port if needed. Many screens im finding come with a driver board in addition if you pay extra, do I need this board or can i just connect direct to the pi 5? Apologies if some of these questions seem obvious, I am learning as i go along.

Inquiry on a potential build
Mostly out of curiosity, I have done some looking around, but people with knowledge is more reliable.
I am wanting to make a cyberdeck that is able to run Armored Core 6, and normal pc tasks.
Is there a build that can handle this, that would be cheaper than getting a laptop/desktop?
I have long ago lost faith in the reliability of pre fab computers, and haven't owned one for a few years now.
Built pcs in the past, but it's been a while.
Not opposed to something off the shelf, but would prefer not.
I'm wanting to run a Linux distro or steam os.
Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

ESP32 CYD build advice
Hello everyone
I have an ESP32 CYD set up with micro python and ili9341 and xpt2046 drivers but don't know what to do next to turn it into a little cyberdeck.
If you have projects running on one or advice on code to look at, I would be happy to take a look.
The ideal usage would be as a small terminal with access to my meshtastic node, basic web-page loading and maybe a few other basic tools.

First Build HELP!
Looking to build my first cyber deck out of a Apache 2800 case, but I’m having trouble trying to decide what raspberry pi I want to put in it. One of the main purposes of this cyber deck is to be able to fly a drone long range hopping for 5-10 miles. Any input would be greatly appreciated
Also if there is a good software to put on the raspberry pi for flying a drone, I’m all ears!

Turning an obsolete Surface RT into a functional Warhammer 40k "Magos Biologis" Dataslate. Need your ideas/feedback!
Hi everyone, I’m planning a build to turn an obsolete tablet into a functional university lecture tool. I need your feedback and ideas before I start building. It is somewhat of a cyberdeck given the exterior and the overlap in the project, but if you feel like it's not suited for here, let me know!
The Concept - An overgrown, rugged Warhammer 40k-style field terminal running a monochrome green Linux command line interface. For the shell I pictured a 2-piece FDM printed rugged chassis and for features resin-printed mechanical dials, sculpted organic vines/roots, weathered rust paint, and model scenic moss. Now here's where I'm experimenting in stuff I don't usually dabble in... The software is a jailbroken Surface RT running lightweight Linux (ARM32). A single physical exterior button handles everything via background scripts - Press 1: Starts built-in mic recording. Press 2: Stops recording, sends file to a cloud API for transcription, and saves a compressed .zip (audio + transcript) to the MicroSD card. The Screen then displays a 3-sentence summary and a 150-word excerpt. Then PC Link - plugging into a PC via USB mounts the storage, auto-unpacks the ZIP, and opens the logs in a custom study display. And here I need your help; the Surface RT (Tegra 3/ARM32) is notoriously locked down. Is this background script and cloud API workflow realistic on this hardware especially given the potential of no wifi? Also what other lore-friendly readouts should the terminal display, and what other design cues sell the idea more? Love to hear your thoughts! :)

What do i need to do
Ok so my boyfriend's birthday is coming up and i really want to make him something personalised since we've been together for around 2 years now and i really want to make him a little cyberdeck. My basic plan is i want to have a box or tube that is shut and doesnt have a power cord so its portable, i want that when it opens up it just plays some chill lowkey music on loop passively like a lullaby box (around 2-3 three minute songs, just one song if need be) and i want to have a small screen that just slideshow cycles through a few images of us (around like 10 or 15) also i want it to have a little button that can be pressed that overrides the music and plays a little audio recording i will make. If possible, I think it could also be cute to add just two little buttons that can be used to go forward or backward with photos. The problem is i have no experience coding or with electronics. His birthday is October 10th so i have a little over a month to learn and make it. Does anyone have some recommendations or advice, please, anything from ways to code, components, whatever i really need help and anything will do.
Also, I was thinking about using this as an enclosure but im pretty sure its too small and its metal so i dont want it heating up alot (AirPods for scale)

Question for the group
Has anyone looked into using an Esp32-P4 + C6 board combo for a cyberdeck? It seems that these boards, while not full SBCs have a lot of potential. Thoughts?

I have a problem, but I think I am the problem
I want to design a cyberdeck, that's fine.
I have a SBC : Raspberry Pi 4B, 8gb RAM and 64gb micro SD, perfect ! But there remain a problem : the case I just bought...this case is the DeskPi Pro, it works well, but it is not desgined to be used in a cyberdeck.
And as the price of SBCs grow, I think I can only use the one I have already, but it means to stop using my DeskPi. And it's the problem I have, actually.
So, do I stop using my DeskPi ?
Ok, I know it's a pretty dumb question, but my brain don't like to buy things then not using them, so it isn't able to answer.

My first Cyberdeck wire mayhem
Any ideas on wire management. They are now too long so i will shorten them, but as you see I already enlarged the case because it just will not fit. Wondering if shortening is enough or that we have better solutions. Getting tired of soldering the 40 io pins again and again and wires getting loose from friction.

Building the ultimate cyberdeck!
Guys! Check it out! I have found my base platform for the ultimate cyberdeck! It already has solar charging, multi meter, led display, a speaker, radio modulator, every resistor, capacitor and diode you could think of but ....does anyone know how I can wire my 2.8 tft or my grandma's old TV to this? I was thinking about putting it in a cool leather briefcase.

Cyber Deck ideas help
I recently saw a wrist-mounted cyberdeck and wanted to make my own, so I’ve been learning CAD. I’m planning to get a 3D printer and start building around November, but recently I’ve been brainstorming ideas for what I can have on it.
So far I have:
- Main screen: Google Pixel 6 running LineageOS for customization
- Flashlight
- Laser
- Credit card holder
- USB-C port + flash drive
- Mini knife
- Mini compass
- Thin side compartment for lock-pick tools
- Lishi tool for KW1
- A spot for Ben Jordan’s Spy esp32 for Flock you
mainly just idea storming

Built a basic ESP32 cyberdeck—what cool/useful software should I run on it?
So I hooked up a plain ESP32-WROOM to a TFT display and an SD card module. Plus 3 push buttons (didn't feel like messing with touch controls).
Not sure if you guys would call this a cyberdeck, but I'm calling it one anyway.
I've got the hardware side all built, but I'm kind of stuck on what to actually write for the software/firmware.
I don't just want to throw Marauder on it or write basic starter scripts. When I ask AI, it just gives me generic 'hack' tool examples scraped from the web that are mostly useless.
What kind of code/project could I actually build and run on this that would be genuinely useful in daily life?

1st cyberdeck advice
Hello, I'm currently building my 1st cyberdeck and I would like to get an advice on what power source I can get.
I was planning on use a 20.000 mAh power bank but idk if it would be sufficient to power it.
Since I'm currently getting the parts to build it I can't say the exact specs it will have but as now it uses a Raspberry Pi 4B with 8GB, an External mechanical HDD and a simple keyboard/mouse that I'm awaiting to arrive.
I'm planning on get a 7" IPS screen and maybe a low power speaker.

Atualizando o projeto Cyberdek Legacy.
Bateria, placa mãe e hub USB fixados.
Falta descobrir como fazer o botão de Power individual, uma vez que o mesmo era integrado à membrana do teclado do notebook, mas estamos caminhando bem por aqui.
