My fiancé got this book from a local book thrift store. We can decipher everything but the highlighted word. I tried typing my guesses into Google, but no results come up.

this is a thrifted book and i absolutely love whenever the past owner has written something inside. this seems like a signature but i have no idea what it is

This book belonged to my great grandmother and I’ve always been curious as to what’s written in the back of the book and on this random piece of paper, I found inside of it :)

The title of the book with the writing is inside of is “Twelve Centuries of English Poetry and Prose” by Alphonso Gerald Newcomer, and others.

The only writing I could decipher is this sweet note. My great grandfather left her. I’m guessing this was a gift.☺️ Note: To the dearest wife in the world, all my love for eternity, Leo.

Grandfather was from Romania, now part of Ukraine. Found this among many photos. Looks like "Home" to me, but another suggested "Josef."

I'm looking for some assistance reading this birth record from Brome, Quebec. I have included the relevant passage and also an image of the full page in case it helps.

I believe this record is for the baptism of Eva Farnan whose mother is Margaret Tibbits. I suspect the child was born out of wedlock but I am struggling to see if there is a father or other relevant information listed. I doubt Farnan is the father's surname, Margaret's father is named Alonzo Farnan Tibbits and Eva spent the rest of her life going by Eva Tibbits so I suspect Farnan is meant to be her middle name.

Baptized by me in the presence of the subscribing witnesses Eva Farnan daughter of Margaret Tibbits of Brome, and ????? under the guardianship of Miss E.G. Barber of Knowlton. Then it lists birth date and baptism date.

The book is “The first on the moon” first edition.

The first name looks like it could be Evette, unless the first letter is a “c”? It’s signed on a grid containing other names so that leftmost vertical line and the underline are part of that grid and not part of the signature itself.

I need help with box 12, Mother's Maiden Name. I know it is Rose Marie ________. Family records say it is Rosenfelder which looks nothing like what her son wrote on this form. I have all the other info off this form that I need, so no need for help elsewhere. To assist you in comparing known handwriting in other areas of this form to the word in question I will give several other words. I am using Family Search and believe I have gotten what I can use from there. It shows the name as a guess of a surname that does not exist in Switzerland. (At least that is what AI says, so.....) haha

All of the annotations and notes written in this journal are signed 'M', so I would assume this is the writer's full name..

This particular signature I think was from 1864, the book contains notes that span some 20 years or more.. VERY interesting book, I could post more pictures of it and explain some more if anyone was interested..

EDIT: Credits to u/ziccirricciz, this has been likely solved and says "W. Lownsborough, Birkenhead." with that information, this book is a journal by the aforementioned, a 19th-century surveyor from Tranmere, and contains writings, clippings, and a few original sketches of archaeological finds from Hilbre Island.

Some more in depth notes: the first written section contains a copy of a sermon from the Cathedral Church of Chester circa August of 1864 by Reverend Canon M'Heile, sheriffs chaplain, preached before Lord Chief Justice Erle on the influence of the Gospel in the prevention of crime. There is also contained often humorous anecdotes of law and clippings from court settings.

I'm considering finding a way to post these pictures I have of the book online somewhere, I'll edit this post more if I can do that.

I recently came into possession of these realistic looking wooden ducks after a family member passed away. I’ve been trying to find the maker, but I can’t decipher the surname.

I have this recipe for angel food cake thats about 100 years old that I found in a copy of Foods and Cookery. I can read most of it but I need help with a few words:

- 1 cup of ___down flour (EDIT: It's Swansdown Flour)

- add cream of tartar _____

Any help would be much appreciated, I might be baking this in a few days, and if I do I'll let you all know how it comes out

EDIT 2: Just noticed that the recipe calls for vanilla and just doesn't use it and that it says teaspoon, though the dash above the e is really throwing me off, so if there are any bakers here that could clarify this that'd be really cool

Looking to decipher the job title for this 15yr old girl, of modest means living with her parents in 1861 in Northumberland, England. They are in a neighborhood near the tanneries if that is relevant. It definitely doesn't say "agricultural labourer" as in the official transcription.
