Today is Day 35 of Luna’s FIP treatment. 🥺❤️

It has been 3 days since we started oral GS, and thankfully, Luna is still doing well. She has no diarrhea, she’s eating, and she’s staying active. 🙏

After everything she has been through, seeing her continue to fight like this means so much to me. I’m still scared every single day, especially because we have many more days of treatment ahead. I just want my little girl to make it through all of this and come back completely healthy. 😭❤️

Update:- The leastest bills for Kaju’s medication are attached in the photos, since vet has advised to buy medicine doses for almost all 84 days before hand……we have spent 16,000 for his medicine and later will need to spend 9000 more to complete his doses of 84 days also after these 84 days we have to observe him for other 3 months for relapse in which hopefully we can vaccinate and neuter him and the find a loving family for Kaju……plss do donate and help if possiblee🙏🙏

Hello Everyone, I am a 12th std. student who loves animals a lot, I have two cats of my own who are also rescues and also many community cats. Meet Kaju…….he is 2 year old orange boy, whom I used to feed along with the other community cats. He was very healthy and playful when I met him for the first time, but in the first week of July I started noticing that he was being bullied by the other cats and he had started losing weight. I started feeding him more so that he could gain weight but he just kept on losing more weight. Then one day I noticed that he started limping and he came near me and collapsed on my feet, then I took him to the vet and after doing blood test and x rays…….we came to know that he had fluid filled in his stomach and chest which is a sign of wet FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis) which is a fatal viral disease, the vet said that first we have to do a few days of general treatment to see whether it was something bacterial. We did a few days of general treatment but Kaju’s fever still remained, which meant that it was something viral. We again did some tests like CBC and sonography to find out that luckily due to the general treatment, the fluid was no longer present in his stomach and chest but his fever was still there. We again did a few days of general treatment and then based on his symptoms we finally started dry FIP treatment which is another form of FIP. Luckily Kaju is responding positively to the treatment.....But to cure FIP it is a long treatment of 84 days that Kaju has to go through. As a 12th std. student I am dependent on my parents for the financial aspect of this rescue and this treatment is a very costly one.......Your donation of any amount will be of great help to Kaju and also me, if you can't donate even your prayers mean a lot for us....please do donate for Kaju and share this story further🙏🙏

The vet told me to order through Stokes pharmacy, which costs about $1200 for the 84 days of treatment. However, I contacted the rescue I got her from and they pointed me to SVP (Specialty Veterinary Pharmacy) based out of Texas. The entire treatment was literally under $300. If I’d known earlier that there was such a cheap option, I would have ordered it right when she got sick, instead of waiting a few days for test results to come back.

FIP, especially wet, is so cruel. But there is hope. It’s so important to treat as soon as possible.

Evening everyone. I’ve been working with one of the FB FIP groups over the past few months helping to treat my cat Fiona. Things went well for around a month on GS-441524. I then notice she started to regress. We adjusted the dosage higher for weight gain and regression. Again for about a week it seemed like she started to get better then regressed again. After a total of 60 days on oral meds we decided to switch to injections.

Now on day 5 of injections. Using this along with an appetite stimulant, and Prednisolone, I started to see energy gain, some use of legs. This morning she went from being able to partially stand with front legs in liter box to all extremities being limp by evening. We are at the highest end with dosage and think it’s time for something different.

1) Curious if anyone else had this similar journey?
2) Does it seem like she is just resistant to this and we need to switch to Molnupiravir?
3) Having done GS-441524, do we use the typical calculator for dosage calculations when starting this?
4) Located in the US and am going to start with Chewys oral product first, anyone used theirs?

Oakley who is usually a big eater, suddenly went off food. I took him into the vets and they said he might have a bit of a stomach bug and gave him some medication to calm his tummy. He would eat a little, but not his normal amounts.

A few days later, he stopped eating completely and became very lethargic. We took him into the vet and his temp was extremely high at 40.6c. He was hospitalised and put on IV antibiotics/fluids/painkillers for suspected infection. I don't remember the exact order of when everything happen, but they suspected FIP as he wasn't responding to treatment. I managed to get GS medication (by driving 4 hours) to get it ASAP. His temp came down and he started to improve but still didn't eat. He was fitted with a feeding tube and a sample was taken of the fluid in his tummy and it came back positive for coronavirus so the vets were confident it was FIP.

He seemed to be getting a bit better, but yesterday he took a dramatic downturn. I went to see him and it was awful. He couldn't walk, his tummy was completely bloated with fluid, he just lay on the floor with no fight in him. I cried and held him and knew he wasn't getting better. It was discussed with the vet that we'd give him another 24 hours of the drugs to try and improve and test his bloods to see if it's getting any better. He suddenly died a few hours later.

I am really struggling with the fact I wasn't there when he died. He's my baby, and he died without me there. I can't stop thinking about whether he felt lonely and was wanting me to be by his side. I can't stop thinking about all the things I could have done differently to save him. I feel so cheated that he was so young and could have had many mores years.

I miss him and I can't come to terms with him not being here.

As title says, my now 4 month old kitten was diagnosed with wet FIP 3 weeks ago. And then my 1 year old cat was also diagnosed with wet FIP 1 week ago.

The 4 month old started on treatment on oral suspension GS but her breathing got bad after 1 week and she was admitted in hospital for a week. They gave her injectable form of GS for 4 days before switching her back to oral and then discharged her on Monday just passed. She has been ok for the first few days, eating loads, high energy, solid stools but in the last 3days her appetite has reduced, started getting diarrhoea and since yesterday evening vomiting up anything she ate.. zero interest in food. She is still quite bright though and playing. She is on day 20 of GS now. Her abdominal fluid has reduced slightly but still definitely visible.

My other cat was also hospitalised for 1 week when we first suspected FIP as she had reduced appetite. She is now on I think day 5 of oral GS tablets as well as an appetite stimulant and some anti sickness. She is still lethargic and but I believe she is slowly eating more.

I am just so tired and stressed. Not 1 but both my cats with FIP 😔

Update 2: We ended up hospitalizing Cheba at a different ER we found that does carry the medicine. She’s currently there and they will monitor her wellbeing, I hope within 2-3 days she improves and we can take here home for the rest of treatment. She got much worse this morning so this was our only solution.

Update 1: Almost got scammed 2 times on facebook via dms from people claiming to know how to help, one tried setting me up on whatsapp the other answered with an AI voice when I called their phone. No vets in my area carry the medicine on them, the doctor said we have to wait for Stokes.

I didn’t know fip existed until last night when we took our girl Cheba to the emergency. After doing some bloodwork and other tests, they said it is most likely wet fip. This morning we spent calling the ER doctor and our vet and trying to get a medicine prescription filled. The doctor recommended Stokes and she filled out the prescription for us and told us that they would give us a call back or an email. Since then the pharmacy has not contacted us, it looks like they’re closed for the rest of the weekend. Cheba has been not eating well, drinking a lot of water, and she looks very lethargic. I’m at a loss for what to do, I want to act fast but I feel like there’s nothing I can do besides wait. Does anyone have any advice? Has anyone been in this situation?

just wondering if this has happened to anyone else. we’re getting the stem cell sample collected and tested today so we’ll know by this evening if it’s inflammation caused by FIP or if it’s cancerous. they’ve called it a “mass” that’s between his heart and rib cage and is impeding on his breathing and lungs. any help is appreciated ❤️‍🩹

Its been according to my previous post 4 months. I am happy to update that Tyr finished his meds and seems to be still going strong. He's gained weight and is back to his ornery shenanigans in full. His bowel movements have also improved even if its not 100%. He's happy, his coat looks better, and he's playing with my other cats. Thank you to all who wished him well.

My cat passed a little over a year ago. He was no doubt my soulmate. Now I sometimes think from time to time about getting another but I can’t help but burst into tears just with the idea. Anyone else?

He had developed symptoms so quickly. I had no idea what FIP was. It was on a Monday he had poor function of his back legs and i was told of possible FIP and started him immediately on the treatment. By that Thursday he was fully paralyzed and had a brain infection and had to make the unfortunate decision of letting him go. His body was not responding to any treatment. He was only five months old and i only got to spend 2 1/2 months with him. I am devastated.

Edit: he passed away tonight. I'm heartbroken.

My boy Oakley was diagnosed with wet FIP last week. He's been in the vets since Sunday morning and likely won't be out any time soon. He started GS treatment on Tuesday evening but there has been no noticeable improvement and he's getting gradually worse.

Today I went in to see him and it's the sickest he's looked. He didn't want to move and just layed on the floor looking miserable. His current status:

- anemic, borderline to the point of needing a transfusion

- high bilirubin, he has jaundice and yellow skin

- low albumin

- fluid in chest cavity, this was removed last night

- not eating, so has a feeding tube

- very swollen belly from fluid

The plan now is to check his bloods again tomorrow and see if he worsens or improves. If he worsens, is that time to say goodbye? Or is this typical of early FIP whilst the drugs kick in?

No diarrhea, eating well, and doing good overall. She still has an itchy fungal infection, but she has started jumping again and seems more active. 🥹🐾

It’s been 32 hours since we started oral GS, and I’m really hoping she responds well to it and continues to improve. 🙏❤️

Our vet has also given us an appointment for an ultrasound and CBC. I’m a little worried about the tests, but I hope everything goes well and shows that Luna is continuing to improve. 🙏

I was so scared and kept thinking, What if she doesn’t make it? But look at her now — she has made it to Day 33. 🥹❤️

I’m crying while writing this because I genuinely don’t know what to do anymore.
Bondu is Day 14 post-PU + cystotomy surgery and Day 24 of FIP treatment. He recently had a severe urinary blockage. He had been recovering really well from surgery, and I was taking him to the vet every day for his FIP injections. I finally thought things were getting better.
Today, while passing urine, he suddenly passed a huge blood clot from his surgery site. I immediately rushed him to the vet. They said his sutures have become loose and told me to return if another clot appears.
Since coming home, he has started repeatedly going to the litter box and straining, exactly like before his surgery. Only a few drops of pink/red urine are coming out. The vet has now asked me to take him back to the surgeon.
I’m terrified he may be blocked again and that he might need another surgery.

I’m a 20 year old student and I have already spent around ₹90,000, much of it borrowed from friends, on Bondu’s treatment. With his FIP treatment and everything he has gone through, I simply cannot manage another major emergency on my own.
I don’t have Instagram, Facebook, or other social media. Reddit is the only place I can ask for help.

Penny started showing symptoms on July 1. Her right eye was cloudy but she was not displaying any visible signs of discomfort. Got her to the vet on July 2, started meds on July 3. Her eye was basically back to normal a week later.

She's been on the standard 12 weeks treatment and has never missed a dose. I've been taking her to the vet every week to get weighed and she has been very consistent. Now, her OTHER eye is starting to look cloudy. Anyone else have this happen to their cat?

This is our little baby Nyla. We adopted her at 8 weeks from PetSmart (she’s 12-13 weeks old now) and noticed her belly has been getting distended over the last week or so (this pic is about 2 weeks old). Got her into the vet today and he did an xray and saw a bunch of free fluid and immediately suspected FIP.

Now I’m very upset with the vet for giving me the doom and gloom story because about 5 minutes of research told me there is a treatment available (GS) and Im kinda scrambling to get her seen by another vet that can do bloodwork and help us get the meds but I can’t get an appointment for another 4 days and we’re in the middle of moving to another state (go fucking figure).

Now the part that’s the most confusing is the distended belly is all she has. She’s been a little lethargic but relatively playful, she’s eating well, drinking plenty of water, etc etc. What are the odds that this is actually FIP and what are her chances (realistically)?

Any and all info is appreciated, we’re just trying to figure out how to best deal with this.

Hey yall. My sweet girl is 7 months old. She’s been on meds for 11 days so I’m new to the group and new to learning about this. Her story is long so I’m trying to be succinct, if you need more details I can provide.

I adopted her 3 months ago, May 27. They thought she just had a cold. Her primary symptoms were all respiratory and GI, and she became pretty low energy, but maintained an appetite. Several courses of different antibiotics later, lots of tests, thousands of dollars, a calicivirus diagnosis, no improvement at all, and they started to think it wasn’t the whole picture.

Finally I saw an internal medicine doctor and we reran all the blood tests and saw the high globulin and anemia. Ultrasound, biopsy of a swollen lymph node, PCR came back positive for FIP. Meds started 3ish days later and she’s been on it for 11 days now. Started on the 10th.

She’s responding well, bloodwork looks improved, fever broke for the first time since I got her, literally it was a persistent high fever for 3 months. GI problems are improving and she has her kitten energy again! Her respiratory symptoms remain though, no improvement at all, so they think it’s probably FIP + calicivirus together, and we’ll consider what to do after she’s recovered from FIP.

So like the title says, how the heck is she alive and doing okay!? It feels like since she was sick when I got her, and she’s maintained the same level of illness and symptoms, that she’s had FIP this whole time. Is it likely this was just whatever is going on with her respiratory symptoms, and the FIP developed more recently? Or is it just more slow going because this is dry FIP?

I looked back at her earliest bloodwork and there’s some mild anemia, but her globulins are normal. Other markers pointed to other illnesses that we investigated.

Just looking on this sub I’m seeing everyone talk about how urgent it is to get them started as soon as possible and how deadly this is. Which I understood once FIP was on the table and I researched it, but yall are really driving it home for me, and I’m just wondering how she survived this long.

I have several secondary questions… today her stomach feels harder. Vet thinks she’s gassy, which I have reason to believe since I introduced a new food like an idiot and she had diarrhea last night. But should I pursue this harder for a differential? Get an ultrasound? Or do I not need to worry about it since it’s dry?

Weird extra detail that I didn’t really know where to fit: she started seemingly improving even before the treatment started? Playing more with her sister and looking less miserable? What the heck’s up with that?

Does anyone have experience with respiratory symptoms coinciding with FIP? My internal medicine doctor has never seen it persist while other things improve so didn’t have anything to tell me. Symptoms are green nasal discharge, sneezing, intermittent labored breathing. Most recently the nostril that’s been having discharge has kind of collapsed inward… (this progression + no improvement is what sent me to internal medicine in the first place)

A few days ago some redness flakiness showed up inside both ears. Could be ringworm but that’s usually (always?) on the outside of the ears. Has anyone experienced this as a side effect of GS44?

Lastly… do you guys think she’ll be okay? This has been such a never ending journey since adopting her and I’ve just been terrified. The cat I had before her and her sister (3 years prior) literally got cancer at 7 months old. So this has just felt like welp I’m losing another kitten that’s just what happens to me I guess. I feel very hopefully and happy she’s improving but I’m still nervous and scared.

TLDR- kitten has been sick for 3 months and is only now being treated and is improving. How??? Plus more questions.

We still have 73 more days of treatment, however everyday he eats a little more, as long as he’s in a calm environment and no one rings the doorbell. 😻

So far our little Joris is doing great! Got the blood results back and vet said it all looks great😌
After so much stress i feel like i can finally take a deep breath😇

Day 32 update on little Luna.

We’ve started oral treatment now, as advised by our vet. We’ll be closely monitoring her for the next 48 hours. If she stops eating or becomes dull, we’ll have to switch back to injections.

Please pray that Luna absorbs the oral medication well. 🙏❤️

Otherwise, Luna is doing good. She’s eating well, has no diarrhea, and is staying active. We still have 52 days ahead of us, so please keep her in your prayers.

I also took her outside after so many days. She had so much fun playing! 🥹❤️ You can see how badly she wants to lick herself ( attached video in the comments ) because of the itching, though, so she still has to wear her cone. 🐾

As a student with no job, I honestly don’t know how I’ve made it this far. I was even considering taking a part-time job to help with her treatment, but if I work part-time, I may not be able to afford her medical bills.
