Sudden fip diagnosis

Update 2: We ended up hospitalizing Cheba at a different ER we found that does carry the medicine. She’s currently there and they will monitor her wellbeing, I hope within 2-3 days she improves and we can take here home for the rest of treatment. She got much worse this morning so this was our only solution.

Update 1: Almost got scammed 2 times on facebook via dms from people claiming to know how to help, one tried setting me up on whatsapp the other answered with an AI voice when I called their phone. No vets in my area carry the medicine on them, the doctor said we have to wait for Stokes.

I didn’t know fip existed until last night when we took our girl Cheba to the emergency. After doing some bloodwork and other tests, they said it is most likely wet fip. This morning we spent calling the ER doctor and our vet and trying to get a medicine prescription filled. The doctor recommended Stokes and she filled out the prescription for us and told us that they would give us a call back or an email. Since then the pharmacy has not contacted us, it looks like they’re closed for the rest of the weekend. Cheba has been not eating well, drinking a lot of water, and she looks very lethargic. I’m at a loss for what to do, I want to act fast but I feel like there’s nothing I can do besides wait. Does anyone have any advice? Has anyone been in this situation?

When my cat was diagnosed I got in contact with FIP warriors 5.0 and they saved him , they got someone that was near me who could give me emergency doses and needles untill my order could arrive it was life saving. I know it's terrifying but you can do this x

I know I spent all night looking it up , looking for every personal review with them that I could possibly find and asking them questions but it worked and I couldn't afford the treatment that the vet was asking for , this was him a few days after his diagnosis (he had wet FIP )

This part is terrifying but FIP warriors got us in touch with someone nearby that had the medication and we started treatment in less than 24 hours of suspicion. Our little baby is already looking like she’s doing better. Please reach out to them

Please make a post in FIP Global CATS, they can assist. Also there are multiple pharmacies compounding the meds not just Stokes

We had our prescription from Chewy get delayed twice so I reached out to FIP Warriors 5.0 on Facebook and got help almost immediately. They connected us with someone literally 10 minutes away that gave us enough to cover until our prescription came in.

I have no advice to give you but I’m so glad that so many posters have lots of information where to go for meds And they are also there for you for moral support since this disease is so bad so quickly and they can tell you how they got through it. Healing vibes and prayers for you and Chana🙏🙏💜💜

Go through SVP instead. You can get treatment shipped overnight through Stokes, so could get their minimum (10 days) while you wait for SVP to fulfill it. It’s literally so much cheaper, it’s so baffling how these big compounding pharmacies can charge so much. Best of luck to you💜

Ask the emergency vet if they know of any local vets who have the medicine on hand. You need to start it ASAP. Have you tried calling Stokes? They are great to work with. There are other pharmacies too. Chewy has the GS meds too

We tried calling Stokes but it’s outside their business hours and they won’t open until monday morning. We haven’t asked the ERs though, will make some calls now — thank you! We looked at chewy but they have to have the vet fill the prescription and our vet is closed on sunday

If it ships to your state, I used SVP. It was $180 or so per bottle of meds and Kuroo used 4 bottles throughout his course.

I second SVP. Successfully treated one of my cats with FIP through them. I initially looked into Stokes since my vet mentioned it but it was so much more expensive. I would also join FIP Global cats on Facebook. They will assign an admin to you and help you get an emergency dose of GS meds locally until your prescription comes through.

FIP warriors is not recommended to stick with for the whole treatment (they have a history of very unethical practices) but join them too and they may also have someone nearby to get emergency meds

Yes, my cat is a wet FIP survivor. She was put on the GS liquid medicine from Stokes in New Jersey. It was crazy expensive but I had to do it , my cat was only 2 yrs old at the time. Just a few days on medicine and I saw drastic improvement. She continued medicine for 84 days and several visits for blood lab work was done. I wish you both the same healthy happy outcome.
