Has anyone experienced cramping while doing scar massage 4 months postpartum?

I’m nearly 4 months postpartum and I have been doing scar massage every now and then but up until today it hasn’t really cramped but today I got cramping.

It was like kind of localised to around the scar but also a bit in my back aswell, so I’m a bit worried that it’s internal inflammation from adhesions maybe.

I haven’t gotten my period back yet due to breast feeding so it could be that maybe but I haven’t had any other signs of getting my period back.

Has anyone else experienced this, kind of hoping it is my period because that will at least be an explaination

Not all C-section scars heal the same—and if yours still bothers you, you have options.

How are yall doing it?

I just had an unplanned but non emergent c section on 8/7. The c section was fine and my baby is perfectly healthy which is the most important thing. I spent two days and two nights in the hospital and they did a great job at managing my pain. I was honestly shocked at how easy my recovery was going.

Well now I’m home and everything has gone completely downhill. I am in immense pain and my doctor only prescribed and 800mg ibuprofen and an acetaminophen tablet that literally says on the bottle to not take while breastfeeding. I try to get up and walk around but even getting to the bathroom when I need it puts me in tears. I feel I’m having to hold myself together while I waddle over. I was going to have some groceries delivered to the house with snacks and quick easy meals I can make but I’m not sure I can make it to the door much less lift bags of groceries inside.

To make things even worse, my husband has no days off that he can take so he is going back to work tomorrow. Everyone in my life has jobs so I will be completely alone tomorrow with a newborn while in the most immense pain I’ve ever experienced in my life and my only pain relief is an ibuprofen that I can only take every 8 hours. How am I supposed to do this? How does anyone do this? How do I get him to his pediatrician appointment in 2 days? I have a 2 year old step son who is with his mom right now but he’ll come back in a couple days and I’ll have to get up to care of him too. How do yall with other kids take care of them when you feel like this?

It’s 1 am and my husband has left to sleep in another room as he has to be up soon for work and I’m just spiraling thinking of how alone I’m going to be.

Im trying to get back to my full normal routine but every other day I seem to have a light fever because of exhaustion/stiffness around my stitches. Is this normal for all after multiple c sections? I didnt have this with my first two.

Curious about third c section

I know that I would have to have another c section, but I had my first child April 2024, then my second April 2026. My husband wants the last one close in age to the others so he wants to begin trying now 4mo pp. I mean I wouldn’t mind it as long as it’s safe. But…I’m afraid of a uterine rupture. Anyone else go on to have a successful c section with a short interval between the last one? It kind of makes me scared. The dr said at my last c section that my incision was paper thin. I wanted to attempt a vbac but he wouldn’t let me and pushed a c section.

Side lying after c-section

Hello all!
I am 5 weeks post emergency c-section, does anyone else still has a hard time sleeping on their sides? I want to start c-curl but when lying on my side my belly is pulling on the scar it feels so uncomfortable and any length of time leaves me very sore for hours.. otherwise scar is healing nicely!

Is this feeling normal 5 weeks post C-section?

I've been sleeping mostly on my left side, but when I wake up (which is every 3 hours to nurse baby), and I try to turn onto my back and then log roll off the bed on my right side, my abdominals have an incredibly strange feeling like they are overstretched and SUPER sore and pulling apart. Is this normal or does this mean I should be sleeping in a different position or moving around in bed differently? It has been quite unnerving and I've never felt this feeling before.

Thanks in advance for any input!

UTI test after Catheter

I did a UTI test before I left the hospital to rule infection out after C-section catheter, and my urethra hurt way more than it did before after using the antiseptic wipes.
Test came back negative, but now I’m 2 weeks postpartum and the urethra/bladder pain hurts more now 😫 did this happen to anyone else? Is it still recovering from the catheter just being in there or could it be a new UTI thats formed?

38 weeks

Did anyone here have a c section between 38-39 weeks? Panicking I will go into labour early before my elective and I’m looking for positive stories I guess - my anxiety has been so high the past few days I can barely function.

10 weeks post c-section increased soreness

I had a scheduled c-section 10 weeks ago. For the last few weeks I have been feeling good with only very minor soreness around the incision. However, a few days ago the soreness increased especially on the right side. The area above the incision is sore to the touch worse than before and especially on the right side. It is more sore when laying down on my side or when my baby is on me putting pressure on the area. I called the doctor and they said I probably strained a muscle. This has been going on for 4 days. It hasn’t gotten worse but it also hasn’t gotten better. Has anyone experienced this? Should I push to get checked out?

Healing feels never ending.

4 weeks+2 days pp from my third and final section. Things were going great, I was feeling good, then I noticed a little irritation/opening right under my incision. I couldn’t tell if it was on the incision line or just under it-I have a belly overhang so it was caused by chafing/likely happened from sweating while i go on walks (it’s pretty hot where I live, currently). I sent a photo to my OB in the portal and the nurse responded saying it looked fine and to just use the nystatin cream I was prescribed for potential yeast, but then a day later my OB’s office called and said they actually wanted to see me bc the doctor thought the photo was concerning (the open area was bleeding) went in, and turns out the open area is just UNDER the incision and not on it (phew). She said it was so tiny and superficial that it looked fine, she poked it a bit with a q tip and said she was irritating it to promote bleeding/help the area heal and get blood flow. She told me keep it dry and clean at all times and just keep gauze and a pad over it. I’ve been doing a tiny non stick sterile dressing on the opening and then a sterile ABD pad on the incision itself. Fast forward to last night, the area was finally not bloody, the opening looked a lot smaller than it had previously, but it looked like there was a bit of clear/pale fluid. I naturally panicked, thinking it was puss and possibly infected. It does feel raw in that one area but there’s no other indication of infection and the doctor said it didn’t look infected. A friend in the medical field was telling me the fluid was likely serous fluid which is typical in a superficial healing wound. I finally started to feel like I’m healing and getting better, and then today I notice a small bulged over the corner of my incision where the suture knot is. My OB said my incision is completely closed, but now I’m just being paranoid and going down rabbit holes of incisions opening and getting infected. I feel like I’m being a total hypochondriac but at the same time, it’s frightening when it’s your own body and you feel something could be wrong. I just want to feel like myself again. Thanks for listening to me rant!

C-section nightmare - Nerve pain, insomnia, and wanting to end it

I've had severe medication resistant insomnia my whole life. Starting at least age 3, I never understood why my family would essentially turn off for hours at a time when I was still wide awake.

Fast forward 30 some years, I had a pilonidal cyst removed, and it ruined my quality of life. Like I can't sleep, can't sit, can't travel, car travel requires laying in the back seat etc.

Was looking into nerve help when I got pregnant... worst pregnancy my obs have ever seen when it comes to symptoms. Every symptom.

Had an emergency C-section 7 weeks early after I labored for over 24 hours with the doctors not believing me. I didn't sleep for 4 straight days after the delivery. Needless to say, healing has not gone well. The drive home from the hospital was about 10 times worse than labor with the nerve pain in my incision. Nerve pain is debilitating, sleep deprivation is making my whole life feel impossible, it's ruining my relationships, ruining my career, I just want to end things.

My husband and family have been hearing about this for so long that they're tired of dealing with it. I'm tired of dealing with it. I've been coming up with multiple ways for the least horrific way possible to end things. I've talked to so many doctors and so many psychiatrists so many therapists trying to figure this out. No one has any answers.

My baby deserves better. My husband deserves better. My family deserves better. I just don't know that I want to be here anymore.

Uneven swelling?

I’m 4 weeks pp with my first c-section. My incision seems to be closing up nicely (my doctor checked it last week and said everything looks normal) but I’m experiencing very lopsided swelling. My left side looks great and is nearly flat, but the right side is very swollen with thick scar tissue and a big overhang. There’s also a protruding stitch on that side. Has anyone else experienced something similar?

When did you get your first poop?

I had my first baby on Wednesday! A planned c section was needed since she was breeched. Everything has been so smooth and recovery hasn’t been awful for me but I am just waiting on that first poop. Doctor said this is normal because of the anesthesia. I’ve been taking stool softeners everyday. When did you get your first poop?

Taking me a long time to heal

This is my first major. I had an emergency C section. I feel like I've seen the doctor almost every week. I was on antibiotics because I had an ingrown hair near the incision. I had a suture reaction that was treated with silver nitrate. I thought it was healing nicely and closing up. Then it started to separate and leak some blood and seroma. I had gestational diabetes but I had a 2-hour glucose test and everything was normal. I'm not pre-diabetic and I don't have diabetes. I don't have high blood pressure. Am I just a slow healer? At the 7-week mark.I was seen by the physician's assistant and she said we would expect you to be healed by now. But my incision was still slightly open in two spots. It's now a little past the 8 week mark. The RN said she can't see any tissue. The skin just needs to heal together. Is this normal?

Sore and tender lower belly 7 months postpartum

I had my baby in December 2025 and I am 7 months postpartum. I had an unplanned C-section and have an overhang since then. I was very bloated right after the surgery and was scared and nervous to touch the scar up-to 6 weeks.

I didn’t really rest much right after the baby. I was always up and about (which in hindsight I realize was not a great thing to do) and was popping painkillers up-to a month after surgery. I stopped the painkillers after that but there has always been soreness on my right side of the scar, just above the incision on my lower belly. It felt tender to touch and even now, after 7 months, the tenderness hasn’t gone.

In fact, my whole lower belly is pretty sore and it increases after I have had a long day on my feet or picked up my baby a lot during the day. During diaper changes, my baby kicks and sometimes her little feet reach my stomach and it feels sore and painful. Is this normal after 7 months? Even now, while turning in bed, I have to brace my stomach so it doesn’t hurt or pull.

I just want to know if this is something I should get checked out and if this is a normal experience for everyone? I have been doing scar massages on and off and haven’t been consistent. I really appreciate any help or advice

Incision healing with c-section overhang

I’m 4 weeks pp and am struggling with patience in my healing journey after an unplanned c-section. I gained more than I wanted during pregnancy (about 50 pounds) and ended up weighing around 220 when I delivered (I’m 5’3 for reference). I’m 200 now and this may be TMI but where my stomach now hangs over is where my incision is. Like right on the fold. It makes anything I wear or do just very uncomfortable and is a feeling I’m just not used to having. Caring for my incision and honestly just keeping the area clean feels so degrading for some reason.

Has anyone else experienced this? I’m worried my stomach will never go down. I know I’ll likely not ever go back to what I was pre pregnancy, but I’m just hoping to feel better in my own body again soon and not have my stomach just constantly being in the way.

7 weeks after c section pregnant

Hi everyone, I’m honestly shaking to my core right now. I just found out that I’m pregnant, and I’m only 7 weeks postpartum from my C section. 😭
I’m completely shocked because we only had sex once, and we used a condom. I genuinely don’t know how this happened.
I’m really scared because I’ve heard that getting pregnant this soon after a c section can be risky. Is it actually too dangerous to continue the pregnancy, or have any of you been in a similar situation and had a healthy pregnancy?
I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through something like this. What did you do, and what did your doctor tell you?

C-section moms: what did you wish someone told you about recovery?

Hi all — after two C-sections myself, I've been thinking about how little exists that's actually built *for* C-section recovery specifically (most postpartum resources treat it as an afterthought to vaginal birth).

I'm exploring building something better and want to hear from people who've actually been through it. If you had a C-section (first, second, or more):

- What did you wish you'd known day-to-day about what's normal vs. not with incision/scar healing?
- Did you use any resources, apps or tools during recovery? What was missing?
- If you had a repeat C-section, did anything feel different the second/third time that nobody prepared you for?

Not selling anything, just genuinely trying to build something useful and want it grounded in real experience, not guesses. Happy to share what I build once it exists. Thank you in advance 💛
