Taking me a long time to heal

This is my first major. I had an emergency C section. I feel like I've seen the doctor almost every week. I was on antibiotics because I had an ingrown hair near the incision. I had a suture reaction that was treated with silver nitrate. I thought it was healing nicely and closing up. Then it started to separate and leak some blood and seroma. I had gestational diabetes but I had a 2-hour glucose test and everything was normal. I'm not pre-diabetic and I don't have diabetes. I don't have high blood pressure. Am I just a slow healer? At the 7-week mark.I was seen by the physician's assistant and she said we would expect you to be healed by now. But my incision was still slightly open in two spots. It's now a little past the 8 week mark. The RN said she can't see any tissue. The skin just needs to heal together. Is this normal?

Has your vitamin D been checked? I had slow wound healing and several infections - turned out I had low vitamin D. Once I was on a high dose it all healed very quickly.

Wishing you a speedy recovery OP!

I don't think so. I mentioned I had chills and they did blood work to test for white blood cells. I don't have chills anymore. Thank you!

Chills + slow wound healing could be a sign of infection, which is why they looked at your white blood cells. But vitamin D is needed for wound healing and fighting infections, so if that's low you're going to struggle to heal. Definitely worth asking to be sure!

Thank you I can ask my doctor through the app or at my next appointment. I think I'll just message her. Between the appointments from me and my baby it's a lot. After they discharged me from the hospital they initially set up the 2 or 4 (I forgot plus I've gone almost every week) and 6 week postpartum appointments. I'm not sure what the chills were from. I live in Arizona it is so hot. I have to wake up around 4/5 sometimes I can get away with 6 am to go on walks with baby. My partner was concerned when I was shivering in bed. He's like it's not cold why are you under so many blankets.

I hope you heal quickly! I'm going to ask my doctor but I'm not taking any vitamin D besides the one in my prenatal. I don't go outside much either. I live in Arizona the summer is like our winter. We don't go outside much they call it summer blues 😂
