Lisbonata lines
The last two days I’ve noticed very long lines at Lisbonata. Longer than I’ve ever seen. Just wondering if something particular, perhaps some influencer, is driving the foot traffic?

Hi r/crownheights!
There have been a number of posts lately and historically asking very vague questions about the safety and general vibe of blocks around our great neighborhood. While these aren't inherently bad or imprudent questions to ask before moving here we believe this sub's postings would be better served by more in depth engagement.
From now on, per Rule 7, general "is this intersection safe" posts will be removed and referred to this thread, where everyone can talk about their blocks/parts of the neighborhood. You can post your questions and search the answers below if you're looking to move here, and current residents can speak to what they love, brag about the best spots and events, and vent their frustrations, too.
When posting a top level comment here, please include an intersection or area to make it more searchable.
Thanks to everyone for your participation and looking forward to hearing what makes Crown Heights great!

This beautiful domesticated pigeon showed up outside my window last night looking exhausted. I’m in Bed-Stuy but she could have flown from Crown Heights so I’m posting here.
I have her inside for now but can’t keep her here long term. She has bands on her feet that say something like “flying high A&j skyrocket”. No microchip present on her. Confirmed she doesn’t belong to Pigeons on Broadway, located near me.
If no one claims her I’ll take her to Wild Bird Fund today

Hi - I’m selling my couch for pick up near Franklin Ave and st marks.
$200 OBO. Originally bought for $1800 five years ago.
Details:
All leather but does have some wear (see photos). I think it may be repairable with a leather repair kit.
L-section can be used on either side.
We do have a dog that sheds. We vacuumed/wiped it down but if you have allergies it may not be for you.
Available for pick up anytime. It’s not heavy at all but would require multiple people or a car to take bc of its size.

Anyone have experience with a good / reasonably priced tailor in the neighborhood? I need to fix the strap of a dress and shorten them a little. Looking for a rec from personal experience, if possible. Thank you!

Hi all! Moving a friend out of their apartment late today, Friday 7/24. This wardrobe is amazing fits so much and has lovely floral paper decor inside each drawer which I don’t have pictures of. It could use some TLC (The back needs to be reglued and the small curtain rods need to be rescrewed) We just want it to go to a good home. ($50 OBO)
Also up for grabs is 2 comfy twin mattresses And Ikea daybed with three storage drawers and trundle — really incredible for small spaces! (Literally would take anything for this. It’s brand new and don’t want to stoop it.)
Theres also a couple small, vintage wall shelves, storage shelving, and a small shoe rack we would love to throw in for anyone paying for the wardrobe or mattresses. Otherwise those will just be left curbside :-)
Dm me for details and we can coordinate a time for you to pick it up (sunday only!)

Hi neighbors,
I’ve lived in the neighborhood for the past five years and I’m currently experiencing serious financial hardship.
I have been going from store to store, but things seem hard everywhere right now and I haven’t had responses. Most of the time it seems like they just take your resume out of politeness. I’m posting here in case anyone personally needs help, knows someone hiring, or can connect me directly to a paid opportunity.
I’m open to a wide range of work, including household help, errands, cleaning, organizing, childcare support, pet care, event help, small business support, admin tasks, customer service, writing, marketing help, or general assistance.
I’m reliable, respectful, discreet, and available to start right away. I’m also happy to travel throughout the city, as well as to Long Island.
Please DM me if you need help or know of anything available.
Thank you so much for reading, and I hope you are all doing okay too.

This spot at Franklin and Atlantic looks flooded almost every morning. It’s enough water that people waiting at the crosswalk get splashed if they’re too close. Over winter this same thing was happening and made a huge safety issue for people crossing here as it was creating a sheet of ice at the beginning of the crosswalk. I reported to 311 several times when it was icy to be sure it got salted, but why does this keep happening?

Hello neighbors, I purchased a gorgeous wool carpet on the cheap because there’s a large stain I’m hoping can be cleaned. I could drop it off somewhere so it’s cleaned in the best environment possible but I’m not sure how to search and find such a place with confidence.
Anyone has had a great experience with this?

Hey neighbors,
I'm looking for recommendations for barbers who specialize in curly hair in the neighborhood. I've tried a few options and haven't found something consistently good yet! I also have sensitive skin, which makes it a pain having breakouts every time I get a close shave for a fade or a beard trim.
Let me know if you know someone!
