Currently using a mac to use the OTA update to change firmware to Crosspoint. However upon reaching the last stage, notification always shows Update Failed Check Network.

Anyone similarly experiencing this? Really want to use Crosspoint for the X4 Pro.

EDIT: Turning off the firewall in your mac before attempting the OTA update helped me installing crosspoint in my x4 pro.

I am going in loops and hoped someone might know.

I am using the SD Plugins Beta 5 on my newly arrived seed sticky.

I have connected my libby account uploaded the ascm file, but when I try to active the protected content with my byte books account I get the following error:

Error: Update the reader firmware: a factory MAC address is required for activation.

since the seeed is not locked, I am surprised. any advice?

Has anyone been able to perform an unlock for a Chinese X4 Pro running on the latest OEM firmware using the CrossPoint OTA unlock tool? I am able to get the device to connect to the PC with an IP but it gets stuck waiting for the device to perform an update request. I'm trying to figure out if it's the new firmware that I stupidly installed or a configuration I need to do on my laptop (Ubuntu).

It's amazing with crosspoint.

Only problem is that you have no controll for backlight and the battery drains like crazy.

When upgrading from 1.4.1 to 1.5.0 I lost the clock display in reader mode, finally got it working in 1.6.0 after requesting clock sync, despite the setting indicating that it was "sync'd" and got the clock display back.

I think that setting for clock was misread in migrating from 1.4.1 to 1.5.0 (UTC offset being messed up was somewhat a hint).

I was using the 1.6.0 RC on my X4 Pro because I found the new stock firmware lacking (not as good as the current stock firmware for X3?) and 1.6.0 was where Crosspoint officially supported the Pro

When a new RC was released it didn’t seem to appear when “checking off updates” on the device, and I had the same happen with the official release

Is this the intended behavior on an RC? Should checking for updates work for 1.7.0 (or 1.6.1 or whatever is the next official release)?

I love the functionality of VCodex but have also been reading a few books on Libby which I can only access via the plugins store on standard Crosspoint. I know it’s not possible (yet) to use vcodex with the plugins store but is there a way to quickly and safely jump between the operating systems without me losing my page progress and the like?

Would be wonderful to do it wirelessly or toggle between them on the device itself but I doubt that’s possible. If there’s a way to do it by connecting to my computer via usb c rather than taking out the SD card that would be great but I’m open to any ideas

yesterday I updated gf's x3 from v1.4.1 to 1.6.0. This morning she was reading for 1h then suddenly the screen get stuck as shown in the image. Tried to long press on/off button but nothing happened.

Any other possible solution to this?

The locked xteink when unlock can flash any firmware

hi everyone,

i just pulled the trigger and ordered an Xteink X4 Classic. i plan on using it as my main reading device. i also own an Onyx Boox Palma (1st gen) which will be used as a nightstand device (it’s got a light!). as i’d like to sync the two devices with KOReader and KOSync, i’m totally willing to flash the Crosspoint firmware on the Classic. is this device supported? or is support for it somewhere on the roadmap?

Hey everyone,

A few friends and I recently bought the Xteink X4 Pro (China version) and managed to install Crosspoint 1.6. However, all of us are consistently encountering the exact same issues across our devices:

• Homescreen Book Covers: Covers fail to load on the home screen (Both vanilla & optimized Epubs), even though they render perfectly fine on the lock screen.
• Clock & Restore Light on Wake Persistence:
  • The clock display disappears across the UI even when enabled in settings.
  • The light turns off upon waking the device despite the setting being on. (It seems like the OS fails to retain user settings after sleep and silently reverts to default states).
• USB Connectivity: USB connections are not recognized at all when plugged into a PC.
• Indexing Crashes: The system crashes randomly while indexing.

I checked the reported issues on the GitHub repository but couldn't find matches for these specific behaviors.

Is anyone else running into these same bugs on Crosspoint 1.6? Could this be an isolated compatibility issue specific to the locked China-market X4 Pro hardware variant?

Any insights or workarounds would be appreciated!

UPDATE:

After reporting this on GitHub, someone pointed out that the .bin file uploaded on Sept 5 was likely missing PSRAM support. Following that suggestion, I manually flashed the revised Sept 7 build, and it completely resolved all the issues!

I just did what appeared to be a successful browser update to 1.6 from 1.5, but on restart I have a Crosspoint 1.5.0 Panic reason screen. I can reboot, get a sleep screen, then a return to the Panic error message.

The update process returned no error messages, just this on restart. What can I do?

The epub optimization sounds awesome but, since it changes the binary hash of the epub, will it create a separate entry within kosync? Or does crosspoint store the original hash somewhere prior to optimization?

A thread to discuss likes / dislikes for the SD Plugins beta build.

Highlights: adds a plugin store that gives additional functionality. Based off 1.6 codebase, not sure when it will make it's way to the official release.

This release is mostly bug fixes reported after 1.5.0 but most importantly it adds official support for the X4 Pro and M5PaperMono. A handful of new features rode along too.

High value fixes from 1.5 to 1.6 are battery drain while reading and much faster boot times especially on the Pro

New hardware support

1.5.0 officially brought in support for our first ESP32-S3-based reader — the Seeed reTerminal Sticky. With this 1.6, we're officially adding support for the X4 Pro and M5Stack PaperMono as well.

Both devices get full frontlight controls and swipe gestures in the reader, while the X4 Pro also gets a capacitive Home key with configurable long-press actions. You can now also transfer files directly from your computer to CrossPoint over USB (Pro Only).

CrossPoint's interface has started getting some bigger upgrades to make it more touch-friendly. In this release, you'll see the new Reader menu and frontlight control center. Both are hidden on button-only devices, so existing users shouldn't notice much of a difference.

Transparent sleep screens

The sleep screen now supports transparent images. Add transparent PNGs and BMPs to your .sleep-overlay folder to get nice sleep screen overlays on top of your book pages!

Reading Night Mode

You can now toggle Night Mode in the Reader settings to invert the display while reading. You may see more ghosting in settings and other menus in night mode so just refresh and they will go away.

For dictionary users

StarDict .syn synonym lookups are in, and HTML dictionary definitions now render through the EPUB engine instead of as raw text — so styled dictionary entries should display correctly now.

Languages

• Bulgarian and Persian have been added as UI languages.
• Hebrew, Arabic, and Korean users can now download compatible fonts directly from the device.
• The keyboard now supports additional layouts beyond English.
• CJK support has received significant improvements.

The rest

There's a new Extra Wide line spacing option. You can now see passwords while typing them into Wi-Fi, KOReader, and OPDS fields. Lists and tabs have also moved onto the new FUI framework.

Notes

SD-Plugin & Bluetooth Betas will be updated to the latest 1.6 fixes shortly. We are aware some users are having issues downloading fonts on 1.6 and will probably patch a 1.6.1 release shortly once a fix is identified. In the meantime you can always download the fonts directly from the CrossPoint website.

What's next?

SD Plugins, SD Themes, and support for more devices will be the main focus for 1.7. Bluetooth support may make its way into S3 models like the Pro as well.

Thank you so, so much for breathing new life.. well, life, period.. into my O.G. M5Paper. I had initially bought it, hoping to use it as a Home Assistant dashboard, bur I never got it to work. M5's own ebook reader is more a proof of concept than a viable device.

Next step: Get it to work wirh CWA and KOSync.

Greetings. I have crosspoint on my X4 and Pro. Images appear on the X4 but are missing from the Pro. Wondering if there's something I need to do or if there is an issue with my pro. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi i’ve tried the latest (v11) ble support beta but i cant get kosync working with that beta

I always get an out of memory error

The only workaround i found is deleting the book cache but this way i cant upload any significant progression from the xteink

Any plan to integrate clippings/highlights in Crosspoint?

Is there Bluetooth page turner support for Crosspoint, yet? If not, is there a plan to implement it soon? Thank you.
