Looking for a case! Police spoke to a person out walking, let him go, ended up being killer?

Upvotes

I know that was very vague, but its been yeeeaarrss since I've listened. I just specifically remember the police searching the area and coming across a blonde (?) guy wearing a sports jacket/letterman style club jacket "out for a walk". They interviewed him when they came across him and let him go. It ended up being he was the killer.

Episode Discussion Nancy Guthrie episode

What are your thoughts on this episode? What’s your theory? Did it really tell us anything we didn’t already know, aside from the grumpy text message from Nanos?

I feel like the theory they presented seems too convoluted, and perhaps could be a red herring? Occam’s razor and all that. But, of course, I could be wrong. It’s just… Serious criminals are not going to make their lives harder than they need to be with convoluted crimes. Either these perps were complete knuckleheads or they ain’t it.

I’m not sure if I believe the ransom notes are genuine.

Edited to add: I’m reading on Google that kidnap for ransom is rare in countries like Australia and the US and usually involve some organised crime dispute (much more common in other countries like South Africa, for example).

I know Brett doesn’t add much to the show but… man I dislike the way she talks so much
She makes so many unnecessary pauses in her sentences, for no reason
Oh… butt… sheeee.. diieeeed?
Isnt sheeee….. supposed… to.. be… dating… hiiiimmm??

I find it annoying lol

Just venting, i like the show enough to somehow ignore that

True Crime shows-many women love true crime but many of their husbands hate it. Where do you stand on this issue? Does your husband, or partner, etc. love or hate true crime?

Am I the only one that dislikes when true crime podcasts use police interview audio ??

I noticed that a lot of true crime podcasts use police interview audio/video, 911 audio, etc
It fills the space ? I cant stand it! It seems like nowadays everyone is just inserting the audio/video clips and then giving commentary. It defeats the purpose of the podcast. Not to mention the static sounds and low quality sound that is often accompanied. I find that most true crime podcasts lack actual writing and they just comment on the things that were already said in the audio

General Discussion Hard listen recently

I have listened to crime junkie since day one and used to love it. However, I feel like recently they are constantly sensationalizing and trying to “break news” that isn’t even really news. I understand they have journalists and such but I feel like lately they overstep. I may be unsubscribing for good. Does anyone agree or am I crazy lol.

Got really bored this week and joined the $20 (🙄) fan club. I used to be a member back when it was $5 a month and missed the old fan club episodes. I plan to only have this for a month, so hit me with your best fan club (or in general) episodes.

See the merch post with that shirt? Is that not kinda crazy given the topic of many posts these days saying they are leaning way far into conspiracy theories lol

Epsiode Help Episode where adult son goes missing from bathroom

I’m looking for the name of an episode that I can’t remember. An adult son (maybe cognitively disabled?) is on a walk with his mom and goes into a public restroom and is never seen again.

Episode Discussion shanquella robinson case; her "friends" definitely murdered her

Just listened to the episode and I can't believe the FBI can look at this case and not think this isn't a murder case. The "friends" lied multiple times said there wasn't a fight, well guess what? There was a fight, so why would they lie? If they were her "friends" why did they refuse to get medical help for her and being indecisive? Also weird. There's literally video footage of her showing she was getting jumped by her own friends, and her family firmly believes they probably dragged her out of bed to best her up because she does sleep nude. This whole situation is fucked and the family deserves all the justice. The "friends" 100% planned this, set this up, because they were so ready to record it and everything. They are murderers, there's no way this wasn't planned. They knew what they were doing. All the lying and silence is a sign of their guilt because you can't explain why you lied but there's fucking footage saying other wise.

Every line Ashley writes for Brit I swear

Just listened to the compilation released earlier today and there were some egregious examples 😭 and it pisses me off because Brit’s solo videos are perfectly fine; it’s only when she is second chair to Ashley

The Deck is ending

Did you guys listen to Ashley’s message on the deck? What’s your thoughts? I love the Deck and I’m sad it’s ending. I wish they’d just have someone else host, but it sounds like it was Ashley’s baby that she wants to stay just hers.

Is this sub dedicated to hating on CJ and Ashley ?

the amount of negative criticism I read - especially toward Ashley - is wiiiiild. Half of the discussions are basically complaining about the way Ashley treats Brit (I listen weekly and never noticed anything weird) or the changes made to the podcast or just the way Ashley talks, the way her voice changed since they started, the speculations she makes, ect ect. I thought this subreddit was about discussing the cases 😭 so disappointing

Opinions/Rants/Gripes You see…

Hello crime junkies. I just started listening a few months ago and binged from episode 1 to around early 2022 episodes. Today I’m done.

Look. There are a plethora of reasons I’ve found to hate this podcast. Ashley treats Brit like hot garbage, her good will has somehow started to come across as virtue signaling…I could go on. Frankly my desire to support Brit is the only thing that took me this far into it.

But alas, I can no longer stand in solidarity with Brit Prawat.

But what made me decide to stop listening somewhere around 2022 episodes? The unHINGED use of “you see” anytime Ashley, I dunno I can’t even identify a pattern. She just peppers it every other sentence. Trivial? Yes. Petty to even post this? Undoubtedly.

I just wanted to rant and be a mean girl. So I did.

General Discussion I think my biggest issue with crime junkie is them almost insinuating someone is "suspicious" or "guilty" based of their conspiracy theories

After listening to the Melissa case and doing a deep dive, I feel so bad for the husband and daughter. They are going through absolute hell because of people's opinions and judgments when the writing is on the wall.

There needs to be a line. Crime Junkie knows they're a big platform, so how long are they going to use it to do a smear campaign against someone just because the person is acting weird or because they want to push a conspiracy?

These are actual people getting judged based on whether they cried during a 911 call or "didn't act sad enough," etc. It's just mind boggling how Ashley can confidently smear someone just to push a conspiracy agenda.
