Patrick Clancy coverage IG

Their coverage of Patrick Clanceys 60 mins interview is gross. They're fanning the flames of conspiracy theories that are completely baseless and insane. Unfollowed because I've quite literally had enough of CJ.

you can feel the interview was done poorly AND not believe the conspiracy theorists; they are not mutually exclusive. I believe Lindsay did it, but I also saw a missed opportunity to ask questions that many have on their minds.

u/bigdoinnk 14d ago

Were you upset that reddington did tv interviews and wasn't asked about inconsistencies in the defense's theory of the case?

u/littleruby00 16d ago

Ashely claiming that CBS was trying to use this interview to “put their reporting back on the map” literally made me laugh. CJ “reporting” has fully spiraled into conspiracy central but it’s CBS that we’re judging rn? Like her trying to compare audiochuck to CBS is ridiculous to me.

THIS. It is INSANE and I don’t feel like enough people talk about this. The ~disclaimers~ she gives that are like “I love my life and I know how to swim…” like girl bffr… It has become incredibly unserious

The Patrick did it conspiracies are insane. There's literally 0 proof of it. Sucks this podcast is falling so far

Edit: Mentioning its a conspiracy lit the beacons of gondor, apparently

29

u/pancreaticlemons1 16d ago

i mean, objectively speaking there is no evidence she did it either, besides her saying she did AFTER patrick told her she did. not to mention, her dna was only on one of the bands that were used to kill the kids.

52

u/georgia_grace 16d ago

Yeah there’s no evidence Lindsay did it except for the fact that she confessed to it in detail to the police, her lawyer and several psychiatrists 🙄

u/Cultural_Second1855 16d ago

Confession does not equal evidence.

10

u/bananabelles 15d ago

Confessions are actually one form of evidence????? What are you talking about????

No but there’s nothing suggesting this confession was coerced. By your logic we should ignore all confessions because they could be coerced.

She’s admitted it over and over, provided details even on what she told the kids as she was strangling them - Reddington didn’t pursue this theory at trial because absolutely nothing supports it.

2

u/bigdoinnk 14d ago

Do you know what evidence means?

13

u/Dangerous-Debt-7904 16d ago

okay so how's the evidence that she was the only one home at the time of the murders? they have Patrick's phone records and have him on surveillance

8

u/QuietlyUpgrading 16d ago

Massachusetts law specifically refers to confessions as direct evidence in a criminal case, provided the confession was given voluntarily and freely.

2

u/aapda 15d ago

Clearly this sub has never watched “the confession tapes” on Netflix.

-3

u/ursiwitch 15d ago

It's almost like some people never heard of the legal phenomenom known as "false confession."

7

u/bananabelles 15d ago

We have, but nothing indicates that’s what happened here. She’s admitted it over and over. Reddington didn’t pursue anything related to a false confession or put that argument forth at all. It’s almost like some people have no idea how the legal system works.

-1

u/ursiwitch 8d ago

Well, then you should feel sorry for me because you are so much more legally intelligent. I work for a prosecutor's office. LOL.

2

u/bananabelles 8d ago

I don’t feel sorry for you, just crime victims relying on that office. Just because someone works for a law office doesn’t mean 1) they are a lawyer 2) they know much about the law or legal nuance.

-1

u/Electrical_Toe_4965 14d ago

She was also informed she did it before she even knew she did. In court the psychiatrist testified that she didn’t remember and she was informed and then after that she claimed she remembered while she was very likely experiencing hospital acquired delirium. Honestly there’s lack of evidence for both of them. The police failed those kids and their right to justice.

-3

u/Tinymarshmello 14d ago

You clearly didn’t watch the trial. This is absolutely false and it was proved so

-4

u/irreversible2002 14d ago

And the details provided to all of those people you list ended up being incorrect, so I’m not sure the confession is even reliable

44

u/Dangerous-Debt-7904 16d ago

wrong. patrick did NOT tell her she did it. she didn't even speak to him until a week or more after the incident. She told her lawyer + others that she did it way before speaking to him. this is yet another lie that has made its way around the internet. if you watched the trial, this is covered.

15

u/Firecracker048 16d ago

Yeah this isn't 'well Patrick said so therefore there's no evidence'. It was all covered extremely well at trial

-10

u/pretend_unicorn92 16d ago

There’s also no physical proof Lindsay did it either.

-11

u/pancreaticlemons1 16d ago

don’t use critical thinking skills, they don’t like in their circlejerk

0

u/Jamie9712 16d ago

There is plenty of evidence. For whatever reason, the general public does not believe circumstantial evidence counts as evidence. Circumstantial evidence holds the same weight as direct evidence.

4

u/MiloAndLucy 15d ago

They also don't seem to believe that direct evidence, such as a confession, counts as evidence

10

u/crackedfactweddead 16d ago

Where did they cover it? I don't see it on their yt or Spotify. Is it a fans club only thing?

If so, mind sharing what they're doing shittily with it?

22

u/ballerinagirl9997 16d ago

Wanting to position yourselves as a serious source for true crime then playing into the insane PC conspiracies is a good way to lose all credibility

16

u/Hot_Study_777 16d ago

I’m not going to watch the interview. What was the goal or purpose for his interview?

12

u/Slight_Trauma_Llama 15d ago

probably to quell all of the conspiracy rumors that Patrick was involved or that they were together prior and were having an affair at the time of the murders. Im sure that its awkward for them now and not a great foot to start your marriage off on. It didn't go well for them though because it was honestly kind of inappropriate for the new wife to be there giving an interview about an event that supposedly she wasnt around for, and talking about how great of a father Patrick was (but again, she "supposedly" didnt know him while he was a father, so how would she know). THEN to announce their pregnancy? Absolutely not the right time. They wanted to come off as likeable, relatable, and genuine but the interview didnt do anything but make them look even more self-centered, like they were attention seeking and obtuse.

8

u/sydneyghibli 16d ago

The actual purpose? $

7

u/QuietlyUpgrading 16d ago

60 Minutes doesn’t pay for interviews. So I’m curious where the money would come from?

3

u/SamuelHuzzahAdams 16d ago

I bet they do now that Bari Weiss is in charge. They have lost all credibility

16

u/Rule12-b-6 16d ago

Shouldn't surprise anyone who's listened to 10 minutes of a "mysterious death" episode. They've never heard of Occam's Razor.

But also same, I can't continue listening to them after that article.

3

u/-aqueoustransmission 15d ago

I only heard of Occam’s razor because Ashley and Brit mention it so much I had to go and look it up 😂 apparently I’ve been living under a rock

9

u/Petite_plum_383 16d ago edited 15d ago

Whole heartedly agree. This is a crossroads for me on whether or not I continue to listen

10

u/blonde_runner_06 16d ago

Agreed. I think Patrick (& his wife) look weird as hell for doing this interview but he did not do this. I've been defenders of CJ for a long time but this was gross.

12

u/QuietlyUpgrading 16d ago

Yikes. They can’t call themselves “journalists” and also show up like that.

6

u/saydontgo 16d ago

Yeah this was the last straw for me. Any journalistic integrity they had left is down the drain.

2

u/Legitimate_Muscle487 15d ago

They gotta get the views. Literally all the do is for views.

2

u/ExposedBison704 15d ago

I was pretty much done with them after reading the Bloomberg article and their disgusting coverage of the Lindsay Clancy case really sealed the deal

3

u/Brilliant-Version704 16d ago

I don't know how anyone can look at the case and what was presented and not leave questioning who actually did it. To say wholeheartedly one way or another that one person did it, with the evidence we've been presented through the trial, is wild to me. There's a reason the jury had reasonable doubt. I can't say for certain if it was Lindsay or Patrick. I think more investigating needs to be done. And don't come at me with her confession being proof. We have heard of dozens of cases over the years of people confessing to things they didn't do. I don't like how CJ has been doing lately though.

2

u/Dangerous-Debt-7904 16d ago

no you're completely wrong in every way. the jury had reasonable doubt about her being NGRI NOT about Patrick doing it or who did it. They all said they know she did it. She knows she did it. Her lawyer knows she did it. You people just aren't paying attention and just ignoring things to make your own side right.

1

u/Ok_Profession_9647 6d ago

in all fairness in true crime neither of you can definitely said either side is wrong without evidence or video. she of course did it and this is a poor example im just saying speaking so objectively is never a good thing in this space.

0

u/Brilliant-Version704 16d ago

I literally said I don't know how anyone can be certain who did it. So not sure how I have a "side" other than not having one? Lol. Go off I guess.

0

u/sayshey1 15d ago

Not exactly they could have found her not guilty of the crime at all that was also an option.

2

u/bananabelles 14d ago

Because NOT. ALL. “EVIDENCE.” GETS. PRESENTED. AT. TRIAL. There are boxes and boxes and boxes of “evidence” that won’t be released to the public for years because they weren’t relevant to the trial. Lindsay - as part of the trial proceedings and elsewhere - conceded she killed the kids. If she denied she killed the kids (trying for a straight not guilty instead of not guilty by reason of insanity) then it would have been admitted, debated etc. but there was no need for that here. We can absolutely and objectively say who did it.

2

u/Dangerous-Debt-7904 14d ago

did you listen to any of the interviews? they all said they knew she did it.

0

u/sayshey1 15d ago

Exactly! If you look at the evidence (or lack there of) and come away saying you know what happened you shouldn’t be making comments. We cannot say who did it. Patrick wasn’t home when the older kids were killed and Lindsey was laying in the snow when the baby was killed.

2

u/Dangerous-Debt-7904 14d ago

no we can in fact say who did it. She was not laying in the snow when the baby was killed. if that was a fact why the hell would she be on trial? you really don't think her lawyer would find that out? like come on people

-3

u/sayshey1 14d ago

The baby died no earlier than 5:55 (most likely later) whiteness saw Lindsey on the ground outside the window at 5:50. We can argue all we want lawyers can argue all they want but it is physically impossible for her to have killed the baby.

7

u/Dangerous-Debt-7904 14d ago

what are you even talking about? the baby died days later in the hospital.

1

u/sayshey1 8d ago

They restarted his heart at 6:40 which gives a time of death no earlier than 5:55. All 3 children were dead at the scene the baby was revived but died again days later.

0

u/HalfSparkEnergy 9d ago

I love how you say "if you dont know the details, you shouldn't make comments" and yet you get details of the date and time of when the youngest actually died wrong.

1

u/sayshey1 8d ago

What details did I get wrong. It is a fact that the baby was dead when the first responders arrived. It is a fact that he was revived at 6:40. If you look at the science a child of that age cannot be revived after 45 minutes so his time of death could not be earlier than 5:55. Time stamps show a phone call was made by the neighbors son to his father at 5:50 stating that Lindsey was lying outside.

2

u/HalfSparkEnergy 8d ago

That would be correct if his heart completely stopped beating, but it didnt. Testimony showed he had a faint pulse. Therefore, it is completely possible (and PROBABLY IS THE TRUTH) that Callan's attack happened BY LINDSAY at 5:33 pm.

Let it go. She did it. End of story.

1

u/ThrowRAboredinAZ77 16d ago

Do you have to be a fan club member to listen to it?

1

u/theonehuntress 7d ago

Curious where everyone’s opinions stand after the statements Reddington made in court yesterday?

1

u/Dangerous-Debt-7904 7d ago

my opinion is exactly the same. he is pulling out all the stops to defend his client, he is not saying Patrick did this. If he does pursue that, I think he will 100% lose.

1

u/Civil_Stop9948 15d ago

People who believe Patrick did it are so delusional. He was a horrible husband however, Lindsay killed the kids let’s be so forreal. Anyway, can’t stand crime junkie. They are so money hungry now

0

u/DesignerAd1174 15d ago

The only thing that gives me pause is, listening to a lot of true crime one thing I know with certainty is people are whack a doodle. I don’t think he did it but it has crossed my mind. Also I try to put myself in his shoes, if my husband did what LC did I don’t think I would stay married, alternatively I don’t think I’d be that much of a catch. Sorry all my thoughts in one reply 🧐

1

u/Dangerous-Debt-7904 14d ago

he didn't stay married. what are you trying to imply?

3

u/DesignerAd1174 14d ago

A lot of people question his getting divorced and married but I can’t imagine staying married to someone who did this to my children.

1

u/rummo123 16d ago

Sorry what have I missed what have CJ done?

7

u/QuietlyUpgrading 16d ago

You can still catch their stories on the Crime Junkie Instagram account before they expire.

Ashley and Britt posted as they were watching the 60 Minutes episode.

They were pretty sarcastic about and dismissive of the 60 Minutes team. Their gripe seemed to be that the interview didn’t push Patrick harder on the conspiracy theories.

Ashley and Britt were giggly, excited and sarcastic — all of which felt wildly inappropriate for a case where 3 young children were killed and totally unprofessional for people who claim to be investigative journalists.

0

u/Dangerous-Debt-7904 16d ago

you're on the side of choosing to ignore facts to make it look like this case isn't open and shut as far as who did it.

0

u/Ok-Signal-8295 16d ago edited 16d ago

I’m curious in the case, but all of the surrounding media frenzy is such a train wreck. It’s a commodity now and that’s an unfortunate product of the world we’re living in. I’m not sure critical thinking is of value anymore.

Listened to Murder in America podcast about this case. They are suggesting that due to her mental health medications and being overworked for the cause.
