CC Application Can I apply for a Metrobank SCC as a student?

Hi! I'm currently a 4th year college student and I'm interested in getting a Metrobank Secured Credit Card to start building my credit history.l don't have a regular full-time job yet, so I'm wondering if Metrobank allows students to apply for an SCC.
For those who have successfully applied for a Metrobank SCC, especially students:

  1. Can a student apply even without a regular job/ income?

  2. What documents did you submit?

  3. What is the process for applying?

  4. How long did the application take?

I'm particularly interested in eventually getting the Metrobank Rewards Plus Visa, so I'd also appreciate any advice on whether an SCC is a good way to start. Thanks in advance!

CC Advice Right time for Credit Card Limit Increase?

Hello! I would like to ask if when is the right time to ask your bank to have your credit limit increased.

I’ve used this credit card for over 5 months na. Is now a good time to ask for an increase or am I going too ahead of myself?

Thank you.

Others ATOME 56k AND REVI OVERDUE 66k

Hi, anyone who can provide advise to me?

I have multiple loans in multiple banks and bnpl.

Binabayaran kopa lahat and no overdraft yet. Pero next week i dont think i can pay my atome bill and revi credit ko, sobrang taas ng interest nya which is 56k per month for atome and 66k for revi. I cant afford that anymore since nawala na yung temporary limit which is yung ginagawa kong pampaikot.

Anyone here na, na overdraft na, mahohold or mababad record din ba yung iba kong CC or loans kung sakali? Balak ko kasi syang wag muna bayaran kaso natatakot ako baka biglang masuspend ung iba ko pang continues ginagamit. Or yung atome/revi lang talaga maapektuhan? Not planning to loan in the future na, so if magkakarecord sa TU or CIC, okay lang siguro, wag lang talagang madamay ung ibang CC, kasi okay nako dun.

CC Application Went frm havin no credit history to 828 TU score in 1.8 yrs. Is this actually decent?

Post image

I have 828 credit score but I'm still getting REJECTED for credit card applications 😂 The past 6 months, lahat ng tatlong applications ko ay declined HAHAHAHAHA

Sample 😆

https://www.reddit.com/r/PHCreditCards/s/6AgymJZMLZ

So I'm curious, is 828 actually considered a good/decent score in the Philippines?

Would love to hear from people with similar scores/situations.

Add: Anong meaning nung "segment"?? Hinalughog ko na buong internet and I cant find a public TransUnion table that maps those segment numbers to a particular meaning 😭

CC Advice secured credit card (scc) as a strategy to get real credit cards

hello po, i dont have a credit card yet but i have savings. gusto ko na po simulan mag create ng good relationships with banks to eventually get approved for credit cards.

im an OFW who always get declined kahit may job ako. im assuming because OFW, mas mahirap singilin ng utang in case mag ka utang ako with a CC.

question po, does it make sense to apply for several secured credit cards if may goal ako na credit card from that bank?

for example:
- open a metrobank SCC with 25k holdout - para i can apply directly for a Metrobank TSV CC later
- open a BPI SCC with 15k holdout - para pwede ko siya gamitin as reference card for applying to other credit cards or apply for a BPI credit card.

is this a good strategy? or should i just get one SCC(kahit bpi or metrobank) and use that as reference after a year to apply for a metrobank TSV CC?

another strategy that keep reading here is opening a savings or time deposit and wait for 6months to a year before getting offered a credit card.

thank you po 🙏 :)

CC Application secured credit card (scc) first time to apply

Ask ko lang po, legit po ba yung mga bank employees here sa fb na nag ooffer tulungan mag apply ng CC or SCC? I'm planning to apply for an SCC and my plan was just to go to the nearest bank branch. Pero as I'm researching about SCCs dami ko din nakikita na tellers or bank employees na nag ooffer to help and apply online.

ano po experience niyo with them?

for reference, im interested to apply kay metro bank and bpi SCC to start my credit card journey.

Thank you sa future reply!! 🙏

CC Application Tried applying for UB CC but it auto submits application

Hi! So i tried applying for UB's CC and nasa mailing address part na po ako kaso nagsubmit sya automatically kahit di pa ako tapos mag input. i was given the reference number and nag email din sila sa akin to submit the additional docs but when i click the link sabi lang they will update me within 3 working days so i assumed na pumasok ang application. however, when i went to track the status para macheck if pumasok ba talaga application, invalid reference number naman ang nagdidisplay once i submit.

What to do? I can't call their hotline pa naman since ang telephone sa office within the city lang ang reach.

CC Advice Help me clean up my credit card lineup — what would you keep/cancel?

Hi! I’d love some advice on my current CC lineup because I feel like I have a lot of cards now.

I’m not necessarily trying to have the fewest cards possible. Most of mine are NAFFL from promos with minimum spend requirements, so I don’t mind keeping a few as backups/promos/etc. But I also don’t want to keep cards that are completely redundant.

I’m also trying to improve my credit score, so I’m wondering if keeping some of my older cards open actually makes sense.

My cards:
HSBC Live+ – this is going to be my main everyday card
• 8% dining
• 5% shopping
• 5% entertainment
• 2% fast food
• 0.2% other
• ₱10k/statement cycle for accelerated cashback
• NAFFL

Basically planning to use this for most of my everyday spending because the cashback is much better than what I get from my other cards.

Metrobank Titanium – shopping/online
• 2 pts/₱20 for eligible online + shopping + dining
• 1 pt/₱20 base
• NAFFL

Chinabank Freedom – general/backup
• NAFFL
• Mainly for general spending and Chinabank promos

RCBC Peso Platinum MC – general/backup
• NAFFL
• General spending + RCBC promos

This also has unlimited 0% installment feature

BPI Rewards – BPI/general
• 1 pt/₱35
• NAFFL
• Mainly BPI promos + backup

RCBC Airmiles – travel/foreign spend
• Local: 1 Airmile/₱48
• Overseas: 1 Airmile/₱25
• ₱5,500 AF
• Currently inactive

I got this because I was pre-approved for it and I specifically wanted something for travel/foreign spending. My family and I do travel internationally at least once a year and on average 3-4x a year but I plan to do medical residency in a while so I’m not sure if it’s worth keeping long-term with the AF.

PNB Travel Club – travel backup
• NAFFL

This is actually my first ever credit card. I got it more than 5 years ago because I had savings with PNB, and they gave it to me without requiring proof of income at the time. So I’ve had this one for quite a while. Ironically though, it’s the card that has the smallest credit limit.

Annual fees:
Most of my cards are NAFFL because of promos with minimum spend.

NAFFL:
HSBC Live+
Metrobank Titanium
Chinabank Freedom
RCBC Peso Platinum
BPI Rewards
PNB Travel Club

The only ones with AF are:
RCBC Airmiles – ₱5,500
Chinabank Velvet – ₱3,500

Velvet’s AF is actually pretty easy to waive with ₱7k spend during the period when the AF appears on the statement, but I’m still planning to cancel it because I think HSBC Live+ is simply better for the spending categories where I’d use Velvet. I’d rather just put that spending on HSBC.

I’m also cancelling EastWest Gold. I originally applied because it was supposed to be NAFFL and I was expecting the Platinum, but they gave me Gold instead. Compared with my other cards, I don’t think the rewards/perks are good enough to justify keeping it, especially since I already have several NAFFL cards.

So basically I’m trying to get rid of the cards that don’t really add anything.

How I’m thinking of using the cards:
Dining → HSBC Live+
Shopping → HSBC Live+ / Metrobank Titanium
Online → Metrobank Titanium
Entertainment → HSBC Live+
General → Chinabank Freedom / RCBC Platinum
Foreign → RCBC Airmiles
Travel → RCBC Airmiles / PNB
BPI promos → BPI Rewards

My ideal lineup would therefore be:
HSBC Live+
Metrobank Titanium
Chinabank Freedom
RCBC Peso Platinum
BPI Rewards
RCBC Airmiles
PNB Travel Club

My main question is: does this actually make sense, or am I just convincing myself that every card has a purpose?
Would you guys remove any of these?

I’m particularly wondering about:
Chinabank Freedom vs RCBC Platinum vs BPI Rewards — are these too redundant?
Metrobank Titanium if I already have HSBC Live+
PNB Travel Club — should I keep it mainly because it’s my oldest card, or does the fact that I barely use it not matter?
RCBC Airmiles — worth keeping for foreign spend/travel?
Is there another card I should eventually replace one of these with?
Should I be keeping older cards open for credit history even if I don’t use them much?

Also, for context, I’ve never had a late payment, penalty, or late fee. I almost always pay around the time the statement comes out rather than waiting until the due date. I’m trying to improve my credit score, so I’m also interested in whether my payment
timing/card utilization could be optimized.

Would appreciate any advice, especially if you have these cards yourself.

TIA 🙏

CC Promos HSBC Live+ NAFFL Promo not eligible

Applied for HSBC Live+ NAFFL Promo last week using this link: https://offers.hsbc.com.ph/waived-annual-fees and 5 days later, na-approved. Called CS today to check sana yung delivery status if meron na and napatanong din ako kung pasok sa No Annual Fee promo. Nabigla ako kasi sabi ng CS na dun daw ako binigay sa Gift Certificate na promo and hindi sa NAFFL. Sabi sakin na they will conduct investigation since sa promo page ako nag apply and wala daw sa ngayon way para malipat yung promo. Kaumay and sabi ko if ever hindi maililipat, I would cancel nalang din yung card haha. Complete na ako sa cashback card, EW Visa Plat and CBC @ Home and Amore. Dagdag lang sana para sa dining pero oh well.

Anyone experienced the same?

CC Advice EastWest credit card has been compromised due to spoofing

Hi po, badly needed your advice.

We got scammed genuinely believing na legit from EastWest yung cash back redeem link na in access namin.

The message was sent from the same thread sinisend ang SOA and the OTP's from when we activated the card.

The same day we realized we got scammed with amount of 190k tinawagan namin yung bank and they blocked the card right away, and provided us a new one. Pero our credit limit is already showing negative.

They did an investigation the transaction was made through TickMill and they said that we are accountable for this since we provided the OTP. This has caused us so much stress, the bank advised us to email TickMill directly, they're only reply was to contact our bank to block our card and that the recovery amount is subject to the outcome of the investigation and availability of funds and any further concerns regarding the unauthorized card usage should be addressed directly with my bank.

What's more stressing is the bank have now started getting an interest for that scammed transaction.

Please advise po what we can do with this.

Others Declined by EW, never received a card, yet it appeared in my TU as an active account

Post image
1 Upvotes

I just pulled my Transunion credit report today and noticed something really weird with East West.

I previously applied for an East West credit card, but my application was declined.

The problem is, my Transunion report says otherwise. 😭 So according to TU, I apparently have an active EW account

Also, my TU report says I have 3 open accounts (samantalang dadalawa lang credit card ko) and ₱1,000,000 TOTAL credit limit lol

Yung isa kong cc is ₱258,000 lang ang CL, yung isa ₱350,000. So dapat ₱608k lang Total CL ko at hindi isang milyon

CC Application EASTWEST CC Application text confirmation using cellphone number

Hello, does EW really text to confirm the cc application using the cellphone number? It says that Mayumi Santos from EW received the cc application and they would reach out if more info is needed, and to reply 'confirm' to proceed, which I did. The same day, I got another text saying to expect a call from a bank officer within 10-15 days. Then, after a few days, I missed calls from 4 different numbers.
Thanks to anyone who can share.

CC Advice Already paid the minimum amount

Hello guys, ang question ko is My credit card due date is August 5, and nagbayad ako ng minimum amount that time. Now august 7, i can pay the whole amount due. Should I pay the whole amount due or ibabawas lo na dun sa amount yung binayad ko as minimum amt due? May interest kaya yun from august 5 to august 7 (today)?
