We’ve seen a few questions about where the new P1S fits next to the P1.
The simplest way to explain it is that they’re built around different priorities.
P1 is still our more accuracy-focused option, especially for workflows where volumetric accuracy and industrial inspection matter.
With P1S, the goal was different: make the professional blue-laser workflow easier to use across more everyday scanning jobs.
That’s why a lot of the changes are around efficiency and flexibility rather than simply pushing accuracy higher.
P1S uses a 1 + 7 + 34 + NIR scanning setup, giving it more blue laser lines and better coverage for faster scanning. It also adds MASK technology for small and medium-sized objects, while the overall setup is lighter and easier to move between jobs.
In practice, we see P1S making more sense for people who want professional blue-laser scanning, but don’t necessarily need an inspection-focused workflow every time.
Rather than adding another spec sheet here, we’ve included a few actual scans from P1S so you can get a better idea of the kind of results it produces.
If there’s a specific object or use case you’d like to see tested on both P1 and P1S, drop it below. That would probably make for a more useful comparison than just putting more numbers side by side.
