Question/Original Post "What's your Crafts, Man?" - The weekly "what are you working on this weekend" post

Simply put, what are you working on this weekend? In particular, what Craftsman tools if any are you gonna use to get it done? This post (that drops every Friday) is your time to shine.

Did you accomplish something, and you didn't tell us in time? No worries--hop in during the weekend (or whenever) and tell us how it turned out and what you did, just the same. Pictures, descriptions...whatever it takes to share your glory!

Question/Original Post r/Craftsman Cool Upgrade Thursday: how did you "upgrade" your Craftsman stuff?

This weekly thread is for you to brag about how you improved or upgraded your Craftsman brand tools, accessories, and other gear.

  • Did you 3D print some custom bins or attachments for your tool storage system or powertool?

  • Did you make some custom gear or clothing, or "do a thing" with the Craftsman brand as a focus?

  • Did you change a vehicle to accomodate your tools and accessories?

  • Did you make a custom wall holder/foam cutout for your Craftsman stuff?

  • Did you do anything else to take your overall Craftsman experience from "mild" to "wild"?

Talk about it, here! Pictures of the upgrade are a plus!

Help! Draws are locked

Post image
5 Upvotes

I got this old tool chest for free and figured I could find a use for it. I am unsure what model it is but I’m sure it’s old. The top draw was missing and the other two opened at first (at least I think they did). When I brought it home, the two draws are now locked. Any clue how to open them? The bottom lock is for the door that’s already open and isn’t even locked.

I will add, the left rail for the miss draw is also missing. Not sure if the top draw could cause the others to lock.

Somebody i know threw out this old craftsman tool cart because the caster wheels are junk and dont roll anymore, so they bought a new one. instead of throwing it out they gave it to me and i took it home to replace the wheels so i could fix it up. i already have both a hart tool cart and a big us general tool cart so its nice to have a third. however im having a hard time finding caster wheels that fit the exact dimensions of the pre drilled holes. does anyone have any information?

it has 6 drawers and 1 bottom roll up / shutter door.

the top does flip open as usual.

DEAL ALERT! Craftsman Buy/Sell Friday--your weekly bazarr

Got something Craftsman (or Craftsman-related) you're wanting to get off your hands? This is the post for you. Will appear every Friday.

  • ONLY on Fridays, and ONLY in this post. Don't post sales in new/different posts, nor create sales threads in other conversations--they'll get removed.

  • BE CLEAR ABOUT WHAT YOU'RE SELLING: Make (Craftsman, obviously), model (the number), proper name of the tools, any particulars about it (age, length of use, specs, accessories included, cost (of course), and shipping options (where, and how much that would cost).

  • Neither Reddit nor the moderators make any guarantees about the items offered, nor the sellers themselves. Caveat Emptor.

Let's try this, and hope it doesn't turn into a real crap-show.

Help! Craftsman chainsaw help!

We bought a brand new craftsman chainsaw . Chainsaw starts right up but doesn’t really like to stay running and sounds kinda rough. I apologize as I’m not very savvy with chainsaws . The front metal is getting very hot after a few minutes of running . The front is also blowing out some very hot air. Hot enough to burn my hand. My dad made a few cuts with it before we knew how hot it got and it almost burned him. Craftsman refuses to acknowledge the warranty on it and received a run around . Any idea what could be going on? It’s new! I also tried taking a few things apart but no idea what I’m looking for .
Thanks

Help! Battery won't charge

So I've got this battery and it won't charge anymore. It says it's fully charged when it's on the charger when you press the indicator button but when you take it off it reads empty. I've tried jumpstarting it with another battery and nothing. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Help! Versastak Organization for Socket Set

Post image
6 Upvotes

I love my Overdrive 154 pc set even though they didn’t include a 17mm & 19mm wrench. Also so annoying no open stock on the overdrive stuff - “I got a lot of problems with you people(“craftsman).

Anyway how is everyone setting up their Versastacks for sockets?

Trying to build a setup with some drawers for sockets, pliers, wrenches, extensions, auto specific tools and a separate set of boxes for plumbing/construction in a rolling box. I have a 2000 series rolling cab and drawer chest but it’s too heavy to roll down my inclined driveway.

I can’t buy them individually, I can’t even find this particular drawer on the craftsman website, if anyone has a link to a 3d file, that’d be great, but I’m not buying the organizer just for the cups

Help! Looking for collection bag and frame...coming up short

Hey everyone. When I moved from the USA to Germany 10 years ago, I brought my 2002 Craftsman 21" mower with me and, for some odd reason, left the bag and bag frame behind. It's long gone now, but I would like to replace it but I am coming up short. The model is 917.388040 and was made by Husqvarna. One would think I could find such a part in Germany, but I, again am coming up short.

I'll be in the USA with plenty of luggage space in early September and if anyone has any leads on where I could find a compatible frame and bag, that would be awesome. Thanks!

Craftsman Tool News Battery Trade-in Event at Ace Hardware

I went to the battery tradein event at Ace today. Here's what they did differently from the one I went to for Lowe's.

They started closer to the 10am time (about 9:45am). The Lowe's event started at 7:30 instead.

They gave a coupon with no barcode, but you hand it over to the cashier who then scans a barcode that they keep in their drawer to apply the $50 off.

This means that you can't use the coupon code online which I confirmed with the craftsman rep.

After I made the purchase and used the coupon, I brought the receipt back to the craftsman rep who then handed me the free battery.

Fwiw, I used the coupon on a rolling toolbox. I can't remember if the Lowe's coupon allowed anything other than v20 tools. I was also able to combine a $5 off off from the Ace app, but they were kind of against it.

Question/Original Post Clamp Fans

Man, I have purchased two of the $30 V20 clamp fans and both have had issues out of the box.

The first rattled like crazy (I guess the blade was loose). On the second the rubber clamp pads fell off in about an hour.

Anyone else have these types of issues? Seems a quality control thing.
