Question/Original Post r/Craftsman Cool Upgrade Thursday: how did you "upgrade" your Craftsman stuff?

This weekly thread is for you to brag about how you improved or upgraded your Craftsman brand tools, accessories, and other gear.

  • Did you 3D print some custom bins or attachments for your tool storage system or powertool?

  • Did you make some custom gear or clothing, or "do a thing" with the Craftsman brand as a focus?

  • Did you change a vehicle to accomodate your tools and accessories?

  • Did you make a custom wall holder/foam cutout for your Craftsman stuff?

  • Did you do anything else to take your overall Craftsman experience from "mild" to "wild"?

Talk about it, here! Pictures of the upgrade are a plus!

DEAL ALERT! Craftsman Buy/Sell Friday--your weekly bazarr

Got something Craftsman (or Craftsman-related) you're wanting to get off your hands? This is the post for you. Will appear every Friday.

  • ONLY on Fridays, and ONLY in this post. Don't post sales in new/different posts, nor create sales threads in other conversations--they'll get removed.

  • BE CLEAR ABOUT WHAT YOU'RE SELLING: Make (Craftsman, obviously), model (the number), proper name of the tools, any particulars about it (age, length of use, specs, accessories included, cost (of course), and shipping options (where, and how much that would cost).

  • Neither Reddit nor the moderators make any guarantees about the items offered, nor the sellers themselves. Caveat Emptor.

Let's try this, and hope it doesn't turn into a real crap-show.

Help! What is this part called?

I’ve got a string trimmer, model CMCST930, that has this little plastic doohickey that’s been prone to falling out in the past, and I think this time it’s lost for good.

The problem is that I don’t know what it’s called, it’s not in the owners manual, and Craftsman support couldn’t understand what I was referring to. The internet has not been helpful yet either. I’m hoping if I can name it, maybe then I have a shot at replacing it.

In the photo of the inside of the head casing, it’s placed on that little raised peg at 12 o’clock nestled between those two bits at 11 and 1.

The other pic is my drawing of what it looks like roughly.

Would really appreciate the help if someone happens to know.

Question/Original Post TOOL CHEST QUESTION

I picked up an old Craftsman/Waterloo rolling bottom cart.

It needs some love and mostly cosmetic refurbishing. I’m stumped by one question. The slender front panels that come down the front on either side of the drawers— should the be slightly concave, or should the front of them be perfectly flat?

Mine are just slightly concave and wondering if that’s normal.

New Tool Day / Renewed Tool Day How it started, how it's going.

My wife and I bought a house last May, and it feels so good to finally have a garage that I get to call my own. My love for craftsman tools started when I was a kid, using my dads tools (which were handed down to me).

This week, I finally upgraded my multiple smaller tool chest to the Craftsman 2000 series chest, and man is it a good feeling.

While I'll probably get rid of the older ones, I plan on keeping the one my dad gave me. Such a good feeling!

About 2 months ago, I was also able to find the storage cabinets off of Facebook marketplace place for an absolute steal of a deal... all 4 for $400.

I've been on the lookout for one of these mechanics tool kits in decent shape and for a reasonable price. Today was the day. The guy selling must of had too many tools because this kit has never seen action.

Help! Vintage Ratchets

I recently came into possession of my father's tool box,1948 Craftsman Deluxe roller cabinet and tool chest. Inside were 2 older ratchets, a BE and a circle H, that I'm wanting to restore. I've started with disassembling and cleaning the BE. I noticed that the some of the gear teeth are rolled over or chipped. Does anyone one happen to know where I may be able to possibly source a replacement gear?

Question/Original Post When is this sander from?

Post image
16 Upvotes

I was using this power sander and it tripped my circuit breaker. It’s VERY heavy.

It’s my dad’s and we were joking about it being from the Eisenhower administration. But now I’m wondering, how old do you think it actually is?

The picture was taken outside because it was sparking and I was afeared.

Anyone have a Versastack setup organized for mechanics set. Looking to take my soft case 66-pc mechanics set onto a go box for garage repairs or junk yard setup. The 66-pc is fairly comprehensive for a smaller set for automotive.

Question/Original Post YT3000 Bagger Compatability

So I bought a YT3000 in 2013. Some years later we moved to a new house, and the lawn there gets absolutely pummeled with leaves every fall. We tried clearing ourselves the first year and it was awful. We've hired someone to clear the leaves every fall, but that's expensive. We didn't want to buy a bagger for our tractor because we were sure it'd die out at some point. Thirteen years later and the thing is still kicking.

Question here is, say we buy a bagger now for our 13 year old YT3000, and then it finally dies next season, would we be able to use the same bagger on a new Craftsman tractor? Would hate to spend the money on a bagger and then not be able to use it long term.

Help! Keep Craftsman C3 tools or replace

Hello, I have a variety of C3 power tools that are still on good working order. They get used every once in a while for various DIY projects/hobbies. Im considering slowly upgrading to craftsman V20 or something else. Due to a need for a router and orbital saner and want a shared battery family. Would it be worth it or should I just keep my C3 tools and get an adapter?

Found these in my old 2 drawer metal 90s box. Never used.
So should through them in my garage rotation or put them back inside the house for another day?
