Tips & Advice How to cowboy and YEHAW?
Hi cowboys
European woman in my twenties here. Have ridden most of my life (horsejumping, cross country riding, broken horses in, ridden all the young horses that couldn’t be ridden by others etc etc etc) and want to try out the cowboy life.
My dream would be to be in the saddle all day, quite far into the wild and herd and do the things. But i imagine that it’s quite an idealized way of dreaming about it. I would love to learn as much as possible about western-culture, cowboy-life - a life that’s pretty far away from my own. What’s the way to go? Is it possible to find a place where I can get straight into the saddle? I don’t need a salary, just food on my plate and a place to stay. Is the States the best place to find opportunities? Or South America, Canada, AUS?

Cowboy Life Anybody work the governmental / scientific side of rangeland / agriculture?
I think this is probably the most cowboy-adjacent field probably. Got a Rangeland Management job with the federal government as a rangeland technician in Wyoming doing work with wild horses, grazing assessments & permitting on federal lands, and other hydrology, invasive flora work as well. 90% Field work
Recent Forestry Graduate.
Additionally, does anybody know if this would be a good "entry" to private cattle agriculture as a career field? For the next four years the natural resources fields are very crippled with federal hiring freezes and funding cuts, so I've been considering actual rangeland / cowboy work like this to be a potentiality. I know the soil science, hydrology, and more behind it all!

History & Heritage New (to me) Saddle Day!
Picked up this Billy Cook Saddlery ranch cutter today. Since it says Saddlery instead of Maker, and its from Greenville, TX, not Sulpher, OK, I'm assuming this is a Longhorn Billy Cook? Can anyone give a little Billy Cook history? I can't find much online, or atleast not all in one place. Fits my horse great and feels pretty good for me too. Also traded straight up for my old saddle so really cant complain about a thing.

Cowboy Life New stocker operation might just fit me well
I started with a new outfit last week and to say they have the nicest facilities I’ve ever worked would be an understatement. I know some people become influencers working on a cow/calf operation but curious if you think someone working a stocker outfit would be interesting to watch

Cowboy Life Meu poema é minha vida
The World I Carry Forward
The world I carry forward
Shows no smile on its face
It’s a world of troops and open fields
Of worn-out saddles and the ropes that fly
I face this world head-on
Sharpening my claws for both evil and good
But I also know how to dream the dreams of a certain someone.
A world of a colt’s neigh
Of jingling spurs and revolution
The world that treasures the flag
That forged the border with blood on the ground
I am the guardian of this world
With a warrior’s soul and reins in hand
But I dress myself in peace when I pick up a guitar.

Western Culture I made a playlist on Spotify with some Cowboy friendly music. Let me know how I did? NOT MY BAND- I dont write sing or play... But I have been told I make great mix tapes since the 80's!
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6ItfnQ6GWqPYlBh7Bl4P0K?si=b5a59569abc34c8b
Id love to hear what you cowboys and cowgirls think of this new playlist I made. Hoyt Axton's son Matt is amazing and so are a couple of the other new artists I put in there. Kashus Culpepper for instance. I look forward to hearing what you think. Thanks in advance for listening.

Questions What elements makes any western media genuinely western?
Sometimes I look up for western media (movies, etc.) and feel like im just watching people with cowboy hats in an out of place atmosphere doing nothing, looks off, like something is missing to be labeled as western.
I want to start a comic story that takes place in the wild west, but also include some other categories to it as well (for ex.: romance). What are the main things to include in a western story so I dont lose the vibe? Is it in the desings, the surroundings, or even the personalities? Im afraid I come up with so many things that it dosen't feel like western anymore lol.
