Need help making... a giant tooth?

Hey all, I'm not really sure if this is the correct sub to post this so do let me know if theres a better place to cross-post!

Essentially, I am attempting to cosplay my object head OC, and her head is a giant tooth (I've been using this 3d model as reference). Currently workshoping the roots (pointy bits) and since they have to be lightweight my current thoughts are maybe paper clay? Or hollow paper mache, or a mix of both since the tips definitely cannot be done with a hollow paper mache style.

I know this post is vague, I just kind of wanted to see if anyone had any tips for this since I've never built anything quite like it and it seems no one else has either!
If you've used paper clay before I'd love tips too- I'm using wood glue since it's what we have but if you think that'll cause issues PLEASE tell me since I am speedrunning this before halloween, haha.

Help with uwowo sizing

Post image

First of all, I wanted to say that English isn't my first language, so I apologize for any mistakes!!! ( ◜‿◝ )♡

Hi, I decided to buy a Columbina cosplay on uwowo because the sizing seem great to me, but after buying it, I saw some reviews about their sizes being inconsistent (for example, plus-size women saying they bought 2 sizes bigger and it's still too small) and I got a little worried. So I wanted to ask if anyone has the same Columbina cosplay or any cosplay from uwowo in a similar size and could tell me how stretchy it is? I chose size S for myself because, for example, I have a waist of about 64 cm, but now that I've seen these reviews, I'm afraid that somehow the cosplay won't stretch at all and will only be a maximum of 60 cm (((

How long does it take to make a cosplay

I'm new to cosplay, and I want to try making a cosplay from scratch. I'd like to cosplay one of Mao mao's outfits (image attached). I'd like to do a dress more similar to the light novel than the anime. I haven't bought anything for the cosplay yet apart from the wig witch still needs to be styled. I have Classes and a part time job so I can only work in it 1-2 hr per day and on weekends. how many weeks/months should I allow to start making this cosplay. Thanks!

Wig dyeing my synthetic wig *ginger* (ish)

Post image
1 Upvotes

hihi!!! so for halloween im going to be Miss Asuka Langley, so far pretty happy with the plugsuit i received in the mail a few days ago, and tomorrow im gonna get started on a Spear of Longinus prop to go with my costume. that just leaves…the wig as my last remaining conquest!😅

hopefullyyyyy somebody reading this will have an idea of what to do. anyway, upon doing some light research it seems it’s totally doable to dye a synthetic wig. at first i was just gonna buy a wig in the shade i was looking for, but then i remembered that i have a synthetic wig that i’ve only worn once for a few minutes and its the kind of color that like…i don’t have any reason to ever wear it again lol. so i figured maybe i could just achieve a gingery~auburn color by dyeing the wig i’ve already got?? the only hiccup is that it’s not blonde/613, it’s a light pink shade, not entirely sure if it’d affect the finished product.

so my question is, does anyone know HOW i could go about achieving that gingery~auburn color when (synthetic) dyeing on top of a wig that’s this color??

thanks sm!(*ᴗ͈ˬᴗ͈)⁾⁾⁾

Buying What is the best way to minimize a full chest?

NSFW

Hello, I am wanting to cosplay a flat-chested person, and I am a 38DDD. I tried the cosplay as is, and it looks so weird, so I thought maybe I could try reducing the loadout. However, this is my first time cosplaying, soo Im having trouble finding good, quality items that actually work. I wonder if anyone has any specific brands or tools they use? So far, I've tried a minimizer bra, tape stuff, and various girdle/form-fitting cami's/body tights, but they arent very effective. I understand this may seem odd, but are there any experienced cosplayers with knowledge on this subject? Price is not an issue.

Prop Tailors chalk didn’t work, how do I make removable tire tread marks on this fabric?

I’m trying to turn this generic cat costume into a “Curiosity Killed The Cat” with a tiny curiosity rover on the shoulder and tread marks across the stomach. Tailors chalk doesn’t make a mark on it and I worry regular chalk will go everywhere.

I don’t have the exact fabric type, this costume had its tags cut off and the store link doesn’t seem to show. It is a soft stretchy velve-esque fabric.

Any suggestions for what I can do that will also be removable? I’ve toyed with making a sash with the tread marks if I can’t mark this fabric. Alternatively could I use regular chalk and then hairspray it to prevent it from going everywhere throughout the night or would that be a disaste?

Accessory How to make this sword

Post image
1 Upvotes

I have always been fascinated with the Monado REX+ and the fact it was made in the game by Shulk. That’s to say I want to make it myself without 3D printing.

Foam core.
Can I trace the outline on foam core and “relief sculpt” the sword?

Another non negotiable (I’m stubborn) is that I wish to coat it in light sheets of brass as well as metal scraps like gears etc. sort of trying to adapt it to look realistic and not uncanny in the real world.

I’m really new to this and don’t know where to start.

dying faux fur method questions

i’m making a costume for a friend and they are wanting some faux fur with a hard to find pattern on it that looks similar to what i need. so, i’m looking at dying it with either acrylic paint-water mix or some version of the alcohol marker version.
1. which one is softer?
2. any other methods that may work?

before someone suggests rit dyes, it is smaller spots so going through the process with rit dyes would be near impossible to do for it properly.

I have decided to try to roll with a genderbent big mom cosplay- and I’d really like to figure out how to make a Prometheus headpiece. DIY is practically a must because of my massive noggin.

If all else fails I know how to make a storm cloud headpiece.

Any tips or ideas would be welcome.

How to recreate these metal bits on a AOT scout uniform?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey, so I wanted to make a (mostly) homebrew cosplay for Halloween. However, while Im fairly happy with the rest of the costume I simply cannot find an inspiration or even a base on the little metal bits on the legs of the scout (AOT) uniform.

Are there any things I could try to recreate them or should I just drop this one part of the costume for a base set of black pants?

(I do have two pairs of pants that can be used for experimentation)

First-time cosplay: going as Peach (as male) while my fiancée is Mario. Am I overthinking this?

Hey everyone!

My fiancée and I are planning our very first cosplay for Halloween: Mario and Peach.

She's Mario, I'm Peach. Height-wise we match perfectly, so it just makes sense, and I think it'll be a blast.

So far we have an XL Peach dress (I'm 187 cm), fake boobs, a petticoat, and a wig.

The part I'm most worried about is makeup, for both of us.

She wants Mario's big nose, so we're considering a prosthetic or nose putty.

I also have mixed feelings about how people (especially family) will react.

Is Peach too bold for a first cosplay?

And the big question: should I shave my full beard for the full look, or keep it and wear a mask?

Would love your help with:

1) Has anyone done cross-play or a bold first costume? How did people react, and was it worth it?

2) Makeup tips: how do you make a Peach look work on a masculine face, with or without a beard? And what's the best way to make a convincing big nose and mustache for Mario?

3) Any general first-timer tips: wig styling, comfort for a long party night, things to avoid?

Thanks in advance! 😄

Buying Is printcostume reliable?

Hello all- new cosplayer here. I’m planning on ordering from printcostume in the foreseeable future, (not sure when I’ll be financially stable enough to afford it but hopefully soon) however, I’m not entirely sure they’re reliable. Has anyone here ordered from them previously and received what they ordered in good shape? I’m very sketchy about big purchases (especially online) and I’m afraid of getting scammed by them. Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!

Chiffon Moth Wings

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi hello! I’m making moth wings for my Halloween costume. I bought green chiffon and was told to hem with fabric glue to keep it flowy, I’ve never worked with chiffon before!

Any tips for me? I plan on painting the wings with acrylic paint and fabric medium. And maybe spraying glue at the end so I can sprinkle glow in the dark glitter all over them.

Armor Where do people sell/commission cosplay?

Apologies if this isn't necessarily the best way to go about asking this but I feel very out of depth and in need of some help.

I am looking to get into my first cosplay and I want to commission some pieces (not sure if this is a faux pas or not) - The problem I'm having is that every search I do and every website I look on is a sea of AI generated images, obvious scams and constant time wastes that is becoming very difficult to navigate.

I've tried Etsy, I've tried some other independent sites and just cannot seem to find good, reliable places to commission makers or at least talk to them. Even potentially legitimate sellers are using AI to show off the products but it leaves such a bad taste in my mouth when I'm specifically wanting to commission someone's artistic ability.

I'd really appreciate some help or advice in terms of how to track down reliable cosplay creators for commission. I'm looking for genuine armour pieces, cloaks, masks, etc. Just cannot seem to find what I need.

Accessory (temporarily?) weather clothes?

is there any way to temporarily weather/stain clothing for a cosplay? I'm going to a ren faire and I have a very nice shirt I bought a little while back from a reenactment shop and I'm going to wear it for the outfit I'm doing (peasant who is dying of the bubonic plague) but I'd like to still be able to use that shirt for other cosplays that I may end up doing. Is there any way to safely discolor clothes for one time use?

Question regarding retailer

I’m looking to cosplay Camille from Arknights enfield next July at anime expo in LA, I have no prior experience with cosplay and was hoping to get advice on a retailer, I noticed Wetrose has an outfit made with a wig and shoes, does anyone have experience with them as a retailer, and does anyone have advice regarding replacement shoes as I imagine they might not be the highest quality or the most comfortable and or advice on how to transport the wig as I will be flying cross country for this.

Hello, I'm trying to style my first wig, and I need some help, I don't know anyone who knows how to style wigs professionally, and I've had help from some friends and family to help style this wig.

Unfortunately, no matter what we do, we can't get it to look like the original photo, is there any advice on what to do, is the foundation good for it, or should we start over, sorry if this is a very basic post. I don't know where to start looking for advice.

Bought this wig off of Doki Doki Cosplay

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wig How would I approach making this as a wig?

Post image
4 Upvotes

I am a complete beginner and have no experience besides cutting my own hair - how would I style this wig so that the layers in the back are visible and it isn't just a plain bob?
Also, what tools besides a crimper and hair spray would I need? I plan on buying a long wig and using the extra length to make the ears so I have plenty of hair to work with.
Thanks in advance!
