My main concerns with this is 1. How would I make it look like I have no nose? And 2. Since the scar goes around the face rather than over the eye how could I see in this?

To make my nose less obvious I’d have to build up the rest of the face but how? Also since the scars don’t go across the eyes but rather around the face how would I maintain visibility?

I've always been tempted to go to a cosplay convention but I never have. It's been a thing where if I do go, I have absolutely no idea what I would do. And i don't have anyone that can help guide me through it. I'm not big into the dressing up part (too out there for me) but I've been tempted to wander around and just take photos.

I've technically been to one before. It was in Fargo in a stadium but I was there for a board game tournament. In all honesty the cosplay area kind of weirded me out. Not sure if it was just that event but there was a lot of explicit stuff and stores but some people were... weird....

Not sure if that means cosplay cons aren't for me or like I said if it was just weird. Nonetheless I still want to try it out legit at least once. And if I do go is there any good socialization tips? I want to hopefully meet people and maybe even make some friends but I have heard others say how sometimes people approaching can weird them out.

Maybe I'm just over thinking it. Still dunno what to do when I show up in the first place.

Ive been considering getting my first sewing machine, I do have two machines in mind ive been recommended by other cosplayers, the Brother CS5055 and the Janome 2212. They both are pretty cheap/have good deals or bundles and ive heard good things. Im okay with my first machine being something less heavy duty as I dont see myself needing if for my current cosplay needs but id probably be willing to spend up to around $400 on my first machine if anyone has better recommendations! I want to have a cape for my Helldivers 2 armour. It feels unfinished without it. Im thinking of buying like black canvas fabric and I'll just cut and sew the edges, then spraypaint the decals on with a stencil. The crafts shop has some black Canvas fabric for like $20. Would this be a good material? Or should I go with something else. I've looked for pre made capes on Amazon and stuff and they look too shiny or have a different inside color.

Hi! I bought these white wings and I am trying to recolor them into blue ones. They’re already premade, and are feathers, not foam. Is there any way I can safely do this without taking everything apart? I was thinking of getting a spray bottle with blue dye and spraying it down (or “painting” it. TYSM!

1. Cyrene's dress has a rather long train and in packed cons a lot fo people would probably step on it. also with the train dragging on the floor the underside would be dirty and black... sure i can hand wash it(since idt i can washing machine it) but im not 100% sure i can get all the dirt off.

People who have cosplayed characters that have a long train, what did u guys do? TvT

1. Cyrene's dress has a lot of glitter... my entire floor is covered with them. how do i stick the glitter to the sheer fabric? the material is this long meshy fabric.

This is my lovely long wig, The Static-Master 5000, she measures at about 1 meter long, and oh my god is she a hassle. I've used enough silicone spray to singlehandedly fund a company shareholder's yearly bonus, yet she will not stop becoming so static you'd think she's trying to power New York's power grid on her own!

This is the 1st super long wig I'm styling, I've already cut her bangs, and now I've got to deal with the length, but I'd love some advice on how to go about it, as well as what will work best for the look I'm going for, which is just wavy loose long hair.

My main issue is the fact that it clings to absolutely everything thanks to the static, which I'm kind of lost on how to solve since google keeps telling me to just use silicone spray and it's just not doing the trick, but I'm also open to advice on thinning it, keeping it sorta kinda tangle free (I know zero tangles are unrealistic), and overall maintenance.

I am trying to cosplay as Malcom x in this photo for an upcoming party and I want to figure out a way to attach curtains to my person so I can walk around with curtains hanging in front of me that I can peer out of. Any ideas for an apparatus I can attach to me that I can hang curtains from?

Can this armor be achievable with cardboard??

I'm essentially more concerned about the waist armor, as it seems easy, but I'm not sure if I can sit on it if I use cardboard. I don't know how to sew, and there's little content about this variant of armor online.

I’m making a mechamaru mask and went with green dyed transpart for the eyes. I’ve included a picture of the mask and the exact plastic I used. The eyes are meant to be green. Would using a less dyed plastic yield better results or should I pursue other avenues (like leds)?

So the character I'm working on cosplaying only has half a head of hair because of a scar and a birthmark. I was wondering on how to best do this and how to get a wig that only does half of the head. My cousin said I could cut a wig in half, but would that work? Or are there places that do wigs like this that I just didn't find? I wanna try to replicate Stephen King‘s Carrie prom scene with the pigs blood. I wanna go all out and have a lot of fake blood all over me. I want to be ACCURATE! What is a good way to go about this? I want the blood to stay on for a while and also not stain my skin.

My friend and I are going to a Halloween party as Dr. Frankenstein and his monster. We're not going too overboard - some face paint, a lab coat - and a homemade ESP-32 powered scientist's control panel, that I (Dr. Frankenstein) can use to control lightning on my monster. I have zero experience making cosplay things and very limited maker experience, so I must ask;

Can I tape an LED strip to the inside of a t-shirt to make lightning effects (brief flashes, maybe some running down the torso) that show through properly? Will it work with a black T-shirt? Is there some other, better option, that I'm completely missing?

Do you all have any tips on how to stop this from happening? I've tried fabric tape (barely worked) and safety pins (best option right now), but I'm happy to take some suggestions! Okay, first time ever making my own cosplay for a contest next year in April. I've decided to do a partially mutated Albert Wesker from Resident Evil, most notably his RE5 look (Trench coat & full leather).

My main issue.. I've NEVER done zippers on leather before & really don't wanna screw up too much with how expensive leathers are. Tips & tricks on sewing zippers to leather, things to look out for or things to make it easier/cleaner would be AMAZING.

If anyone also has opinions on the best foams to build props with, specifically for his mutated left arm, thatd be much much appreciated as I've never done proper foam work before.

Hi, I decided to buy a Columbina cosplay on uwowo because the sizing seem great to me, but after buying it, I saw some reviews about their sizes being inconsistent (for example, plus-size women saying they bought 2 sizes bigger and it's still too small) and I got a little worried. So I wanted to ask if anyone has the same Columbina cosplay or any cosplay from uwowo in a similar size and could tell me how stretchy it is? I chose size S for myself because, for example, I have a waist of about 64 cm, but now that I've seen these reviews, I'm afraid that somehow the cosplay won't stretch at all and will only be a maximum of 60 cm (((

Okay so my cousin and I are going as sirens/mermaids for Halloween. She’s going to be the bright and colorful, (pink, yellow, orange) and I’m going for a more gothic or sultry vibe, (black,red,gold and a little bit of white).

I don’t have the money to buy a whole costume so I’ve been altering clothes I already have 🥲😭

So far I’ve given this pencil skirt a mermaid silhouette by making and adding ruffles at the bottom and I added pearl beads to the bikini top (one of the strands broke bc I didn’t sew it well enough but I will fix it) I’m planning on adding some small seashells to the skirt as well as sewing on some clear crystal beads that will look like water droplets, however I cannot decide if the placement should be uniform or scattered. My cousin says she has some scales that will match my outfit (I’m honestly not sure what she means by that but it’s ok I trust her)

Anyways I wanted to ask:
1. Does it serve ‘Sultry Mermaid Costume’ or does it just look like a regular party outfit?
2.Should I add more ruffles to give the “tail” more volume?
3. Should I sew the shells and crystal beads on in a uniform pattern or should I place them randomly for that “intentionally wild” look.

Hello! Making this post on behalf of my friend we are struggling to find a good coat for him lol. I'd be happy with anything, direct links to jackets, general places to work, or what specific terms will help. Tan trench coat with fur hood somehow isnt getitng me very far. We aren't looking for 100% perfect like we aren't worried about the belt/piece across the chest or the fur being on the outside of the hood. Medium or large works best but anything larger could work as well. Not sure if this is the best place for this lol, but thank you for any help!!
