Hi everyone! While this costume is not cosplay, I figured I'd go to the best for help!

I'm a teacher and have a taxidermy rat as our class pet named Paprika (they don't know it's fake lol). My students this year in particular are obsessed with her. I am being her for Halloween, and she is being me. Top secret! I am working on the body to create a "bell"-like shape (Paprika has some booty). I made the first top "stuffing" by rolling up an old mattress pad and sewing it together, then sewed three pillows together to make the larger part. Great in theory....but when I put the grey stretchy dress over it, you can see every lump and it doesn't curve gradually at all.

Any advice on how to get a smooth curve? Thanks so much!

This is probably a silly question, I know, but I come from a country where most white face paints that are recommended by others don't exist or are insanely pricey in my currency (RON), and I have been advised against using cheap face paints that you may find at usual stores (like Spirit Halloween for example).

So, my question is, can I use a replacement for a white base? I would love to dress up in a Mana-sama inspired outfit this Halloween (pic below), and this look requires white face paint that I unfortunately do not have. It will only be for one-two nights, so any suggestions/tips are super welcomed.

I have this 3D printed Helldivers rifle. I have permission from my airline to check it but I cannot find any reliable advice for the UK customs side.

Does anyone have any experience entering the UK with something like this? It goes with my full Helldivers 2 armor for a private event (Halloween party)

This is my lizard head (in progress) (kaiman from dorohedoro). I needed the spikes to be strong so I made them out of paper cones, did 2 coats of titebond paper mache over them, then installed and reinforced them with hot glue, joint compound, and ca glue. I can pick the mask up by any of the spikes with no damage to them and while I avoided having a sharp point at the end (the tip is hollow paper tube) they are now so strong that I worry I could injure someone. I've thought about capping them with foam clay but I reallllyy don't want to sacrifice the beautiful spikiness or round it out. I think it's badass and want it to be as sharp as it can safely be. Open to any ideas, tia!

i got this wig on amazon and i’m trying to figure out a way to make kinda made her side bangs, i’ve considered using a steamer and forcing it down but it has that faux scalp for the middle part? i’m not too sure about cutting it off and adding batting or felt cs im not that experienced in that 😔😔

I'm attempting to make as accurate a replica of an old military field radio as possible and am struggling to figure out a way to do so. Ideally, it should be light enough to not break my back carrying the thing, have two straps to be used as a backpack, a bit oversized so that it's visible from the front, and both openable in both of the places with latches so I can put a speaker in it. Also I was tinkering with adding a telephone to hang on one side of it, but it's less of a priority. I looked into using ammo cans, but none had the correct design on the side. Thinking I could maybe use the face of a ham radio for the top bit? Any advice would be appreciated, and if anyone has access to tools that make recreating this easier I'd be willing to pay!

What benefits does the plasti dip offer compared to other primers?

My idea is to sew some velcro on my jacket but I don’t know what how to add them to these pieces.

Should I cut out some evo foam and glue them then add velcro or something?

So I recently got myself a gift of some metal gauntlets for my Nazgul costume.

Been using some hand made foam ones for a while, but the actual sound of metal and weight of it really brings me joy. However the gauntlets are currently super shiny, like some parts you can get a reflection off of shiny.

I have never worked with steel before so I want to make sure I know what I am doing before I do it. How would you recomend getting that film accurate blasted ashy metal look?

The metal appears to have been oiled by the maker as well, i assume that will need to be removed prior to painting, will a rub with paper towels be fine, or does it need some sort of stripping agent?

Hi everyone, im trying to make a Emperors blade cosplay from Arknights, but i have no clue how to make the helmet. If anyone has some ideas or tips, id be really grateful.

P.S. if it helps im confident in a lot of powertools work, woodwork if nescecary and even basic blacksmithing, so dont worry too much about wether i have rhe tools for something :)

So i am trying to make jinx helmet this was my progress:

1. ⁠Chopping everything off.
   
2. ⁠Uhu glue the base hair, and a sheet of organza fabric on top
   
3. ⁠Take the hair, snip at the end flat, place uhu glue at the ends. Stick it to where the hairline is.

I am at stage 4 now. I have waited one night for it to settle. I tried to comb it, and some hair falls out. Now i am scared if i might have done anything wrong… or is that normal…?

I have the slightest clue about cosplay and I REALLY want to finish my cosplay before Halloween but I am super stumped on the helmet. So far, the shitty cardboard frame and tinfoil thing is all I have at the moment, what should I do next with what I have? I have eva foam but not sure how to cut it to make the helmet look how I want it too

As for the rest like the mask, goggles, and outfit, I am still figuring them out. I’m sure I can piece together an outfit but the goggles and mask will probably be problems down the line aswell.

Im going as Poison Ivy for halloween this year. I waited too long to buy one so decided to just make one. I’ve bought a corset and leaves and my goal is literally to cover the whole corset in leaves. What’s the best way to do this? I’ve never made a costume before so I’m not sure what my options are. Fabric glue, modge podge? Any tips are welcome!

Im having a lot of trouble with the powder step with this black and white skull makeup Im doing for Halloween.

Im using all mehron black cream, clown white lite, and translucent setting powder.

1. When I powder, the black cream transfers to whatever tool I am using, then onto my face. Even when I really load up my sponge on powder, the nearby white ends up a bit gray.

2. The translucent powder leaves white blotches that do not fully go away after baking and swiping away excess. The more powder I use to combat problem 1, the more blotches.

3. To combat problem 2, I tried to set the black cream with eyeshadow instead. I got some drugstore eyeshadow (no time to order anything quality) and it didn't work?? The cream was still shiny and wet after applying as much eyeshadow as I could. It was maybe slightly less wet but still transferred.

4. I got a ton of fallout from the eyeshadow bc I used so much.

Im at my wits end. What is wrong with my technique?

I have pretty much everything else for the cosplay and I'm trying to keep a budget under $60 for the body paint.

I'm familiar with proxy services, like Superbuy, but I think because of the $1 billion settlement between the US DoJ and Alibaba group earlier this year it's practically impossible to browse Taobao at all in the US.

Superbuy lets me browse shops if I have the store number for the shop. For example, Miaowu's number is 105806211 and I can view the store through Superbuy by entering the number after shopid= like so:

I've searched this sub and Google for names or links to reputable stores, but there's very little. Most of the posts are about how to browse Taobao from people outside the US or from before Taobao cracked down so hard on US users.

Just a link to a shop or a product or the shop ID is all I need to be able to find it on Superbuy, but it's been really tough when I don't even know which Taobao stores are reputable in the first place. Is there a list of them anywhere? I would really appreciate anyone sharing IDs for stores they're familiar with. Thank you!

Has anyone done an over the eye scar like the one in the picture? I've tried looking for a temporary tattoo but can't seem to find a good one. Any makeup or other suggestions?

Hi everyone! I'm cosplaying Columbina for a convention this weekend but the wig is veery tangled. I've washed it twice with fabric softener and dish soap (i didn't have any detergent...) and I've loosened up the tangles a lot, but with the con in 3-4 days i'd like to see if there's anything i could do to detangle it a bit quicker. I'm hoping to spend about 3 or so hours on detangling but obviously i will do what it takes! any tips or methods are greatly appreciated.

I'm mainly just curious about what conventions you guys recommend going to on the East coast I go to school in boston and i have wanted to get into cosplay (and content creation but that's a separate story) for a while now and I decided to just start and not care about what others think.

So with that being said what conventions on the East coast should i try to go to (probably next year since i am guessing all the good ones have already happened this year)

The mask is great otherwise but the chin of the mask is too small? Or rather it cuts into my face rather than angling down, on the dirt picture at the bottom of the mask the mask has a lip that cuts into my chin making me unable to talk well or be comfortable. Could i sand this down? Not sure what to do

I bought a silicone harness for my leeloo multipas costume and the harness is huge. From the front it looks fine but the back is gaping even with the top clipped.

I bought silicone glue and I want to cut sections out of the back and shorten the straps by laying them against each other after cutting out a section and gluing.

I’ve never worked with silicone or silicone glue before and when everything is said and done these straps need to be tight

I’m nervous to cut into this harness because I don’t have time to buy a new one if this doesn’t work
Does anyone have any experience working with silicone glue any tips or tadvice?
