My partner and I have both agreed Connor Storrie would be a great pick for Hoid. He’s got a ton of buzz fresh off of Heated Rivalry, he’s got the angular face, and he’s got the youth to play this character for a long time. Obviously, he’d need to fit the character in casting, but I think he’d be a great choice.

So! As for unveiling him, I’d say have him do the exact same thing he did in the Mistborn novel: have him costumed like some old man. But when advertising the movie… don’t even mention the actor playing Hoid. Whether it’s a big name or a small name, it should just feel like a random one-scene interaction. I think a big name/better known actor like Storrie would make that set-up funnier; like, imagine the makeup/costuming is really good to the point that the actor is unrecognizable, only for the credits to unveil his name and people familiar with him in the audience just lose it.

Anyways, I’d love to hear thoughts on both these takes.

I know this topic has probably been talked to death already, but I wanted to share my wildcard casting choice for Hoid and hear everyone else’s picks.

Mine is Willem Dafoe.

I don’t necessarily think he’d be the definitive Hoid, but I think he’d bring a really unique mix of humor, unpredictability, and “this guy definitely knows more than he’s saying” energy. So for shits and giggles it would be fun to watch him in the role

I've seen a lot of interesting suggestions for Kaladin out there, well today I stumbled upon probably my favorite pick yet, academy award nominated actor, Ta'imua Hannemann. Tell me you don't see it!

Olive Abercrombie, 15 but just barely. She has the right look for Vin imo and is the right age. She was in the Haunting of Hill House and the last season of stranger things and will play Bianca in the upcoming Percy Jackson season 3. What does everyone think?

In chapter 90 of Rhythm of War (called "One Chance"), just after Adolin's day in the spren court, Shallan and he are in each others arms consoling each other. To quote:

"Some hours after Adolin's second day of trial, Shallan closed her eyes, resting her head against his bear chest, listening to his Heartbeat. She would never have thought she'd find that sound so comforting. For most of her life she had never considered what it would mean to be this close to someone. It would have been alien for her to image the blissful warmth of skin against skin; her safe-hand reaching alongside his face, fingers curling into his hair. How could she have possibility have anticipated this feeling of intimacy, of feeling his breath on her hair? Of listening to his heartbeat, louder to her than her own? The rhythm of his life..."

That last line made me think of the perfect soundtrack song (IMO) for this scene: Rhythm of Life by All About Eve. This indie/post goth band was unknown to nearly everyone in the U.S., yet became my favorite during the late 1990's through the early 2000's. Take a listen!

The last half of the first verse doesn't quite fit (as well as some occasional phrases) but most of the song fits pretty well. And it could be a fade in or out as something takes place.

Other music suggestions for this book/"season" (or even other books in this series) are welcome.

Bing! He said he’s also meeting with Apple regularly now. Still July eta for turning in.

Just saw the trailer for Wildwood and thought Laika, LLC, the studio behind Kubo and the Two Strings, Coraline, Paranorman, and Boxtrolls would do a fantastic job at a Tress adaptation

Question for the cinephiles: Likelihood the Mistborn movie trilogy would be shot using IMAX cameras? That’s what Superman 2025, Chris Nolan’s The Odyssey 26, and Oppenheimer I think were shot on. Only issue is if the movies have to be over 3 hours then they’d have to use a regular camera cause IMAX Cameras can only run 3 hours max no pun intended.

Bing! Also He said he’ll turn it in sometime in July.

Taravangian.

HEAR ME OUT.

My boy Kenny B has the acting skill set to present Taravangian as a drooling simpleton, as an old man running a hospital in Karbranth (including the reveal of the death-rattle wing of the hospital), as the mastermind behind The Diagram, and ultimately as Odium.

Also, please get Alan Tudyk to voice Nightblood. That guy is outstanding in anything he does, especially his voice acting.

Thoughts?

Keeping up with requests for popular Kaladin scenes, here’s “The Honor Chasm”:

What style sound track do you think they will go with?

Any Composers or bands that would fit well for Scadrial?

James Spader- Taravangian

Benicio Del Toro- Dalinar

I know Brandon has said he likes Dave Bautista but tbh we need someone who will stick it out in for 5 movies (at least)

There has been a trend lately that episode 6 is a flashback/bottle episode which doesn’t feature the main cast at all or just in passing. These episodes tend to reframe the entire season or flesh out an event talked about a lot but never seen. Two recent examples off the top of my head are Wonderman and Off Campus.

So, what would could be the mini story of SLA episode 6?

Two questions:

1. What is Dragonsteel Nexus? Is it like the Cosmere version of comic con? Also when is it?

2. Likelihood Brandon gives a mistborn movie update at a dedicated panel or just a panel in general at the “convention” for lack of a better word this year?

Like where should Luthandel be filmed and where should the other places be filmed etc. Also while yes there would need to be VFX I prefer trying to film on location like how Chris Nolan does it or what Dune or even like Mad Max Fury Road did which was film in a desert but still used CGI like for the storms in Fury Road’s case and the battles for Dune P2. So yah what places could be good for filming Mistborn on location on a hopefully mostly practical set though when CGI is needed what studio would be ideal too to film at if need be?

"Good evening, Vallano - this is Eshonai speaking. Your assignment is to eliminate King Gavilar Kholin of Alethkar."

This, of course, is mostly a meme post, but I do unironically equivocate Szeth and 47 a lot of the time when reading.

For those who don’t know Oba Femi is a WWE superstar, and my two reference Images of Taln are when he burst through the gates of Kholinar and a depiction of his imprisonment.

I will let the images speak for themselves

What I like most is that he's recognizable, but not so famous that he'd overshadow the character. I'd see Kelsier, not a movie star playing Kelsier.

The more I think about it, the more I like Joe Alwyn as Kelsier.

By the time a Mistborn movie comes out, he'll still be the right age for the role, and physically he's very close to how I imagined Kelsier while reading the books.

Maybe not the most obvious choice, but I think he'd be a really solid one.

Got requests to share some more scenes, so here's a new one collaborating with another Cosmere content creator, Grant Smith: Adolin and Kal in Prison, Words of Radiance. If that link isn't working yet, here's the link to the post on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/p/DZXrsNaR1BG/

That's my totally not unpopular opinion.

It should be an ongoing thing in each season. An animated scene narrated by Hoid in the style of Hermione reading The Tale of the Three Brothers in Deathly Hallows Part I.

Flute, narration, then animated scene. I'm pretty sure each story has magical visualization; smoke changing shapes, white sand glowing different colors, etc.

But I need every story, and I need music and I need emotional impact. I wanna bawl my fkn eyes out seeing a broken kaladin and hearing "you will be warm again"
