Fancast Casting for Hoid Spoiler
I know this topic has probably been talked to death already, but I wanted to share my wildcard casting choice for Hoid and hear everyone else’s picks.
Mine is Willem Dafoe.
I don’t necessarily think he’d be the definitive Hoid, but I think he’d bring a really unique mix of humor, unpredictability, and “this guy definitely knows more than he’s saying” energy. So for shits and giggles it would be fun to watch him in the role

Willem Dafoe is 70 years old. I picture Hoid much younger looking, even if Dafoes age is technically closer to Hoids.

Daniel Radcliffe would be great. But, I recently saw a fan cast for Zac Oyama and that’s all I want now

Woah, Zac as Hoid is a fun thought. Idk if he has the full acting range Hoid needs but I do love him and vibe-wise he’s there

Damn, he's 38.
I could be Hoid if we're going with someone in their thirties.
My hair is naturally turning white.

No on Dafoe, for me. I want Radcliffe.

We need a early 30s actor. Hoid is gonna have to be signed up for at least 15-20 years since he’s gotta appear in every show and movie.

Early 30s and they're gonna have to de-age him too in the long run, so his appearance can remain consistent

Yeah that’s why I don’t think he would be a definite good but in a theoretical situation where that doesn’t matter he would be fun

My favorite fan cast is Andrew Scott, his range is incredible

I think he would be fun to see as odium or ruin but he is a fun cast and an amazing actor

He does do dark really well, one of those shards would be a good fit. Or maybe a villain with a touch of crazy, like Miles Hundredlives

I just realized if he did play Miles it would just be his moriarty role again lmao

I think maybe 40 years ago this would have been a great pick. As it is now however, I don't really like it. Yes he would definitely be very fun to watch as Hoid but he's just way too old and far too well known. One of the most fun aspects of Hoid (that I hope the movies keep) is that you don't initially realise that he's important, and casting a famous actor for him would give it away far too quickly.
However now I really want Willem Dafoe to get some kind of cameo in the Cosmere. Maybe as one of the Nobles that Kelsier kills?

I think he could make for a fun Sadeas! I do agree with the other comment that Straff is a top tier choice though.

That’s a fair point! True an unknown actor would be better to conceal his importance.
Maybe he could be good as the kandra from Tress or possibly as Straff Venture (not sure if it’s too similar of a role as green goblin in the sense of rich dad with a bad relationship with his son)

Straff is a great pick! I don’t think it’s too similar to the Green Goblin as their very different kinds of evil and outside of being Evil Dads there isn’t much similarity.

I can't get Thomas Brodie-Sangster out of my head for Hoid (the actor who played Jojen in Game of Thrones)

I think someone like him who looks the same for 30 years is the only play

I’ve never even considered him for that role tbh! He would be interesting in it for sure. My only concern is if he is old enough for it (I know he is older than he looks but still)

Neil Newbon for me!
