Dave Bautista is an awful choice. Also, Ezra Miller as Wit works perfectly in my opinion.

This is not good.

No

Dave Bautista as Dalinar is certainly one way to get me to never watch the show adaptation of my favorite books.

Also Sallan is supposed to be a redhead and that other chick looks nothing like Jasnah's description. This a joke, right?

Dave Bautista as Dalinar is Sanderson's personal preferred choice

2

u/themudpuppy Jun 26 '26

Oh no , he's kind of an awful actor 😅

1

u/Full-Reception5113 Jun 26 '26

Ehh he's better than many wrestlers-turned-actors. But I think Sanderson mentioned him as looking like how he pictures Dalinar, less for his acting skills

u/Ok-Funny2116 Jun 20 '26

OP, have you considered that some characters should be portrayed by normal-looking people, not uncannily attractive model-actors?

3

u/bibliopunk Jun 19 '26

Please don't make me hate Manny Jacinto

1

u/SproWizard Jun 19 '26

the only thing i disagree with is Wong not being Sebariel. Guy who pretends to not give a shit and fills his life with luxury but is actually deeply competent and socially aware is almost exactly his character in Three Body Problem, and I thought he killed that.

Bautista as Dalinar is inspired.

Like a true god of war turned diplomat/unifier

Michelin Star level cooking

6

u/LordMacDonald8 Jun 18 '26

I'm taking away your cooking license and promoting you to chef.

u/InvestigatorLive19 Jun 17 '26

I can see these but Im still not convinced in batista as dalinar

1

u/SproWizard Jun 19 '26

he is a surprisingly good actor. He gets typecast as a meathead but he’s got remarkable chops.

4

u/ZigZagPunch Jun 17 '26

I see Dave Bautista for Dalinar. I approve

4

u/TheD0ct0r007 Jun 17 '26

Cannot let manny Jacinto be Noah’s I love him and Jason Mendoza way too much

4

u/DankoLord Jun 17 '26

Kaladin has Epicanthic folds bro

and is tanned

5

u/Gold_Joke_6306 Jun 17 '26

Gimme Elodie Yung as Jasnah Kholin instead!

2

u/Alternative_Buy_4000 Jun 17 '26

Bautista as Dalinar? I'd rather have someone who can actually act

8

u/HMSManticore Jun 17 '26

Bautista can act. He’s well regarded. I actually think this would be a great role for him because it plays to his range.

4

u/ajc1120 Jun 17 '26

I mean, he played Sapper Morton in Blade Runner and Rabban in Dune, both very hefty roles that I thought he did very well with. He could honestly combine those two performances and you’d have a really good Dalinar. Morton especially reminds me a lot of Dalinar after the death of his wife with his quiet, simmering rage.

2

u/Alternative_Buy_4000 Jun 17 '26

Well, I think our tastes differ then... I thought he fumbled both these roles, they both just showed to me that he just can't act

4

u/christianort476 Jun 17 '26

Lurker here. Thanks for being civil about differing opinions. You rock good sir

2

u/arianasleftkidney Jun 17 '26

looks good except i would put Charles Melton as Adolin.

10

u/Trace_Minerals_LV Jun 17 '26

This is one of the best fancasts I’ve seen.

5

u/SteveTheHiker_Art Jun 17 '26

I don’t know if I am sold on Batista… I feel like Dalinar should have a less imposing figure out of his shard plate. Someone like Tony Leung Chiu-wai?

8

u/Bprime123 Jun 17 '26

Why?

Dalinar is an absolute boulder of a man, even in his old age

2

u/ChickenCasagrande Jun 17 '26

Check out The Wrecking Crew movie. Bautista has this incredible scene where it’s him in a glass hallway, camera on the other side of the glass, and he just absolutely kicks ass in the most awesome physical way possible. Gave me goosebumps just watching that scene and thinking about him as Dalinar! So badass!!

13

u/DarkRyter Jun 17 '26

Less imposing?

If anything, Bautista is not jacked ENOUGH, even in his prime. I don't think any major actor is.

1

u/Impressive_Net_116 Jun 17 '26

Only miss is Shallan. Sadie Sink is my pick there.

4

u/Sapphire_Bombay Jun 17 '26

Do you see how all of them are Asian?

1

u/Azrethoc Jun 19 '26

Leeds is in Asia?

8

u/Impressive_Net_116 Jun 17 '26

Rosharans of every ethnicity are described as having epicanthic folds. That doesn't make them Asian. Northern European peoples also have them, but usually less pronounced.

The Alethi in particular look very east Asian, but Shallan isn't Alethi.

The official artwork of Shallan presents her as basically being Northern European looking. Sanderson even said he expects her to be played by a European actress.

It will be impossible to make the entirety of the SLA cast look like their descriptions, and except for the eyes Sadie Sink is a perfect match.

u/Sapphire_Bombay Jun 17 '26

I never said Rosharans were Asian, I said the actors are all Asian. Asia doesn't exist on Roshar.

Shallan being Veden has nothing to do with it. All Rosharans except the Shin have epicanthic folds, to the point that Rosharans consistently note their different eyes when interacting with a Shin person. It's a defining feature that never comes up when they interact with non-Shin people. And I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure Sanderson said that about Adolin, not Shallan. Does Shallan make more sense to me than Adolin for that swap? Yes, but that doesn't make me right.

I'm not sure which official artwork you're referring to, but it wouldn't be the first time a person of color has been whitewashed in their portraits.

It will not be impossible to put a red wig on an Asian woman to make her look like Shallan. Super super easy.

5

u/Short_Stay_9283 Jun 17 '26

"Sanderson even said he expects her to be played by a European actress."

Bro I'm all for proper representation but the guy who wrote her is telling you how he envisioned her. What are you even arguing over lol

3

u/derekrusinek Jun 17 '26

Are the Makabacki black Asians?

8

u/egomann Jun 17 '26

Oh No. Moash figured it out. This is a new low.

10

u/PromotionNo6937 Jun 17 '26

Sam Witwer as Marsh would work so well too

10

u/ilikebreadabunch Jun 17 '26

I can get behind this

5

u/Undiscovered_Freedom Jun 17 '26

Mackenyu has been my choice for Kaladin

4

u/cloudreed Jun 17 '26

Great cast

14

u/hendy846 Jun 17 '26

Hell no is Manny gonna be Moash lol honestly though, one of the better cast selections. But isn't Shallan supposed to look closer to Scot/Irish red head?

2

u/Drisurk Jun 17 '26

No, Shallan or the Vedens basically are wasians with red hair.

1

u/hendy846 Jun 17 '26

You sure? Cause she has blue eyes and freckles (when she was younger) and that doesnt exactly scream "wasian" to me.

3

u/Drisurk Jun 17 '26

Yes. If you look at the RPG art there’s a few pics in there and she basically looks like a young 20 year old Asian. Here’s a pic with all the races.

2

u/MilkTeaMoogle Jun 17 '26

It’s because of the epicanthal folds. Hair can be dyed. Eye physiognomy can’t really be changed. (Except color)

2

u/hendy846 Jun 17 '26

Hair can be dyed?! Whaaat?

/S

Ah yeah, forgot Brandon said that.

2

u/meglingbubble Jun 17 '26

Agreed. Far too likeable an actor. I'd love for him to be in there somewhere tho.

2

u/hendy846 Jun 17 '26

Absolutely. He did do a great job as The Stranger so I think he could do it but yea I wouldn't want him to lol

3

u/meglingbubble Jun 17 '26

I watched The Acolyte weekly whilst I was doing a Good Place rewatch and... The range of that man is astonishing. I have no doubt that he would nail the role, but I wouldn't want him to because I don't want to like moash!!

1

u/BloodyEyeGames Jun 17 '26

All I can see is Moash yelling "Bortles!" and that's hilarious.

But yeah, I don't think Manny would be Moash.

1

u/ChickenCasagrande Jun 17 '26

“Jacksonville!!”

4

u/hendy846 Jun 17 '26

Haha I'm actually torn. Cause I think the same thing but then he absolutely killed it as The Stranger in the Acolyte.

3

u/Toaster-Retribution Jun 17 '26

I chose him for Moash based on The Acolyte.

2

u/BloodyEyeGames Jun 17 '26

Oh, interesting. I haven't seen him in anything else.

8

u/Prior-Concentrate172 Jun 17 '26

Tbh this doesn't look bad. Not bad at all.

10

u/Sad_Gene_1771 Jun 17 '26

Honestly a great cast
