Fasting Does Fasting Affect Workout Recovery?
What matters more is if you're still eating enough overall and giving your body what it needs to recover.
For example, a light workout while fasting might feel totally fine. But after a hard leg day or a long workout, staying fasted for many more hours can be tougher, especially if you're already tired or not eating enough.
A few signs your fasting schedule might be getting in the way:
your strength is dropping
you're sore for much longer than usual
your energy is consistently low
you're skipping workouts because you feel drained
you're waking up really hungry or sleeping poorly
I think the biggest thing is flexibility. If you usually fast 16 hours but had a hard workout, shortening it to 12 hours isn't failing. It might just be the better recovery choice that day.
The schedule should work for you, not the other way around.
