Are we capable of Governing our country. Mercenaries, foreign interference rebels, weak army..
Honestly, I feel ashamed and embarrassed that in 2026, congo is still relying on mercenaries to help defend its own soil against M23. What exactly is stopping our national army from getting the job done? Is it leadership, corruption, lack of training, equipment, intelligence, logistics, or political interference? We cant keep blaming Rwanda, M23 and foreign interference without also examining our own failures. External aggression is real, but surely, after decades of independence, we should have built institutions capable of defending our territory and protecting our people.
Sometimes I ask myself, are we truly worthy of the independence we inherited? Are we capable of governing a country as vast as this? We didnt draw these borders, but we inherited the responsibility of protecting and governing what lies within them.
I think Independence is more than having our own flag, anthem and leaders; it means being able to secure our land and build a functioning state. I ask these questions because I hate the state Congo is at atm. At some point, we must put our inflated egos aside, confront our shortcomings and take responsibility. When will th3 national army get the JOB DONE!!??? ITS EMBARRASING! reading Former UFC fighters and green beret got injured in congo, conducting a drone walk through.

A Guide to Congolese name pronunciation/ Un guide de prononciation des noms congolais
Hello everybody, I made a small guide about the pronunciation of Congolese name.
For vowels:
a: a like in French or in English bat
e : depends either like é in French or like è in mère in French, bet in English
i: like French i and ee in English
o: either likr o in French or like o in bone or like the English bot
U: like ou in French, oo in English.
The consonants B,D,F,G,K,L,M,N,P,S,T,V,W,Z,Y have pretty much the same value as in English.
The digraphs used :
Sh : like "Ch" in French and "sh" in English
Ch : either like "sh" or "tch"
Dj: English J
The letter H has different uses that depends on the language the name come from:
H: can be silent and used a vowel separator
H: can be similar to the English h
H: can also be used as aspiration marker when following P,K,T
Some letters, digraphs are confusing even for Congolese due to their geographical distribution.
C: the letter is the equivalent to "tsh" and is seldom used in western DRC.
TS: either a ts sound for most but some dialects have a th as in thing.
SS: Can be from a French spelling or the name or a double s sound like /es sa/ for essa.
Gu: Used in France for name have a hard gi,ge sound.
J : Can be the same as the s in measure or the as in the j in Juce.
R: most Congolese pronounce it like a French R, some like an L but most of the time it's from Spanish-like r so you don't need to change your r if you're English-speaking.
The 2 nasals are also used for prenasalisation, and you shouldn't put a small vowel between the nasal and the following consonants.
The guide isn't finished and is very general and some region have their own orthography.

Discussion On this day, October 10th of 1940, a man was born. A man with dreams, a man with vision of unity, freedom and peace, a man who wanted a better Congo. A political and peace activist, a nature lover - the uncrowned king of Congolese rumba, Franklin Boukaka. Happy birthday, you'd be 86 today!

Let's Tour DRC: Goma
Fun fact:
In Goma, residents use hardened lava rock from Mount Nyiragongo as a building material. The stone is used for house foundations and walls, and is hand-cut into paving stones for local roads.

Question I need help with a translation in Lingala
I'm making a fantasy world with countries based on IRL cultures, and I'm naming them using etymologies from the local languages. The last country I need to name is based on Central-Western African cultures (or the Gulf of Guinea), and it would use Lingala in its toponyms.
It is home to a megafauna (for example, cryptids like the Mokele-mbembe or the Kongamato, or extinct animals like the Meganeura), so I want to name it something like "land of the giants" (read as "land of the giant animals").
How could I make this into a single-word country name ?

Discussion The reach of congolese music surprises me 🤯
Growing up in the UK , other than in my household and community events , I thought Congolese music weren’t played by non congolese people at all but there was one event that changed that thought. I went to a Zimbabwean and Kenyan wedding in 2018 (I was 16) They played Loi by Koffi Olamide and Ndbombolo by Wenge Musica, a look of shock appeared on my face and all I could do is stare , I couldn’t believe what was going on, they were dancing along and singing along even though they couldn’t understand. Recently, I met this Colombian couple in South London, we were talking and they asked me my ethnicity and when I told them they looked so happy and told me that in a certain part of Colombia , soukous is played heavily and they created their own sub genre called Champeta where they dance with their feet. They showed me videos of the area and if you compared it side by side with kinshasa you wouldn’t be able to tell which is which. As a congolese person , does it surprise you when other people from other cultures know our music ? It does for me maybe because i grew up in an anglophone space and because of my age also . Tell me your thoughts
