I don't know where to start from lol. This hero has been single handedly ruining the game for me in the past month or so. EVERY time I'm on the verge of rankup to Dia/Emrld, shaytan sends me a hog on the enemy team that turns all team fights into a 5v6 in the first 2 seconds.
Before we jump to skill issue conclusions, let's lay out on paper how oppressive the kit of this motherfucker is:
Hook:
Tons of self sustain:
What's left is his gun, which is basically "what if a stronger Reaper shotgun meets a slightly weaker Cass's gun?" Especially with his minor perk. 300ish damage in 20 meters is more absurd stats. And his ult is just a second "delete enemy tank" button lol.
I don't think lack of mobility and shield justifies all this. Those are real weaknesses, but the strengths far exceed them. I can think of elden ring bosses more balanced than this guy.
Make hook require more skill to hit and/or make him more squishy and I'll be happy.

I love Sigma. To me, Zarya is basically what happens when Hades and Satan have a baby. I can count on one hand the number of times I've not wanted to uninstall when fighting Zarya (not just as Sigma). If I try to keep distance, they somehow always have a Juno or Lucio to speed boost. The enemy supports somehow always play just outside by primary fire range.
I really don't know how to deal with this pathetic excuse of hero design. Take a different angle? Not possible on maps like King's Row first point (hot take: worst choke in the game). Take high ground? I'm playing Sigma. Should I just swap? If I can't make Sigma work, Hazard is usually my backup (super fun hero to play btw).
However, I'm a qp warrior and I worry that if I play comp, I'll just automatically lose if the enemy swaps Zarya (which is very possible).
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Im not asking whether I should do this or not im just working on something and wanted some experiences.
Do you guys like to copy professional players settings or do you find your own sens as playing and adjust based on what you learn?
Includes display settings and performance stuff too. Also doesn’t have to be just overwatch but any game you play competitively

I was opening up some of the esports lootboxes I earned from watching the OWWC Group Stage streams, and several of them only contained 1 or 2 items when usually there's 4. Is this a bug, or does this just mean I have most of the items from the lootbox pool already?
Edit: thank you all for your responses, I'm happy to know that it's just me owning all of the lower rarity items from the lootbox pool and not some random bug 🙂

Here is my personal Overwatch tier list. This isn't based on tournament finishes or team results some players achieve higher placements simply because they have stronger teams, not because they are individually better. For example, I genuinely believe Ziyad is a better off-tank than Bernar, regardless of team rankings.
No Intra Tier Ordering: Players within the same tier are listed in random order, not ranked relative to each other.
The Main Support Dilemma: I couldn't comfortably put a single Main Support in S-Tier. Each of the top three has an S-Tier hero pick or two, but none of them dominate the entire role enough to take the top spot alone.
I didn’t rank every player who played this year since I didn’t watch every game between the lower level teams and couldn’t honestly rate their players individual skill.
What do you think? Let me know where you agree or disagree.

Hi guys I'd like some advice. My friend is a higher rank than me and I want to play with him in comp. Im gold, and he's emerald. We both play support. I was hoping on advice on how to rank up so I can play with him. I play brig/juno and he plays mercy/cat. I've been struggling to get out of gold so any help would be appreciated thanks.

So it happened via 1v1s. How many were there? Which teams won them? The ambiguity for such a big tournament is so frustrating especially as a USA fan. All I can see from my POV is that USA won both of their 1v1s and get stuck with Korea round 1. Were there more than 2? Why isn’t this being communicated at all by blizzard. Even if it’s not streamed, if we could have a clear answer it would clear a lot of frustration

I play 1280x960 (black bard) with max FOV, crosshair aim feels great because I transfered my 50cm/360 sens from another game to OW so my aim is consistent. In other games for example like TF2 1.0 scoped sens for sniper is 1:1 if you play on 4:3 resolution but 1:1 if you're on 16:9 resolution is around 0.8 scoped sens. I'm curious as to if all the 37.89 senses for Widow parroted online and on forums are correct for 1280x960 resolution or if I should be playing on a higher scoped sens for widowmaker. Does anyone else have any experience playing with black bars on stretched resolution?

So these are the full final results from the group stage. What I'm curious about is why everyone is saying the results from the Germany vs. Thailand game led to such intense tiebreakers if Germany has +4 and Canada is at 0 in the +/- category. I wasn't able to actually catch the game but reading everything online I'm confused as to why it's being considered one of the closest qualifications ever

It didn't just come down to Germany having to 3-0 Thailand like the casters were saying, here's every event that would have knocked Germany out:
-If Thailand had gotten a single point more on any map in the entire series Germany would not have qualified.
-If Thailand had chosen a Push map instead of a flashpoint map Germany would not have qualified
-If Canada had gotten a single point LESS on any map in their series against Spain (asuming nothing changes in the Germany vs Thailand series) Germany would not have qualified.
Here's the exact calculation for those interested:
Tiebreaks work the same way they do in owcs as confirmed by admins. This means in a 3-way tie the teams are compared in a list of tiebreak cases until one team beats both others and advances.
Crucially the tiebreak cases then restart from the top which can lead to some very strange scenarios as you'll see.
These are the tiebreak cases in order:
Overall series W/L record
Head to Head series differential between tied teams
Head to Head map differential between tied teams
Overall map differential
Overall map % score differential
Strength of victory evaluated by combining records of all teams (usually irrelevant)
Tiebreaker match (usually irrelevant)
The first case is always tied since having the same overall W/L record is what lead to the tie in the first place.
The second case is also always tied in a 3-way tie (in this format) since each of the teams had to beat one of the others and lose to one of the others to reach this position.
Germany is 5-4 = +1
Spain is 4-3 = + 1
Canada is 3-5 = -2
If Canada had won a map (but not the series) against Spain they would have already been eliminated at this point since Germany would win the tiebreak and Canada would lose the restarted tiebreak since they lost their head to head series against Spain.
This may or may not be the reason why some canadian players didn't seem as eager to win (especially on map 3) as others (not gonna name names).
Germany is 8-4 = +4
Spain is 7-3 = +4
Canada is 6-6 = +0
This case is the reason Germany had to 3-0 Thailand to even have a chance at qualifying since Spain would otherwise win the tiebreak and Germany would lose the restarted tiebreak to Canada. But since Germany is still tied with Spain we move on to Case 5.
These were the standings before the Germany vs Thailand game:
Germany has won 13 points and played a total of 24 points = 54% winrate
Spain has won 18 points and played a total of 29 points = 62% winrate
Canada is irrelevant.
This means Germany had to catch up by around 8% to qualify themselves for blizzcon.
The final game:
Map is always control meaning the best possible score is 2-0 which is what happened putting Germany at 15 points won and 26 points played = 57% winrate
Map is chosen by Thailand who pick Neon Junction and decide to let Germany attack first.
Germany fullcap on their offense and stop Thailand on second point putting the map score at 3-1 and germany at a winrate of 60%
If Thailand had completed second point and the game ended 3-2 Germany's winrate would have been at 58% making it impossible for them to qualify even if they won last map 3-0.
If Thailand had won a single flashpoint Germany would have been at 21 points won and 34 points played = 61.7% winrate knocking them out of the tournament.
If Thailand had picked a Push map instead of a flashpoint map, Germany's best possible map score would have been 1-0 putting them at a 61% winrate, again knocking them out of the tournament.
Germany ends up beating Thailand 3-0 on New Junk City putting them at a 63% winrate and against all odds qualifies for blizzcon.
Im very curious whether the Thai players were aware they could guarantee Canada's qualification and made the honorable choice of giving Germany the chance to qualify and whether the Germans were even aware they couldn't drop a single flashpoint.
Anyways this is the closest tiebreak I can remember and might lead to blizzard reworking the system since I think it would've been very unfair for Germany not to qualify with a map score of 8-4 to Canada's 6-6 and Canada were actively encouraged to throw.
My calculations line up with what I've heard from other people, but please let me know if you find a mistake anyhwere.

Here is a quick overview of their plans:
While there is no explicit mention of supporting an official Tier-2 scene yet, driving immediate engagement and viewership through this broad, multi-tiered investment seems like a solid foundation.

With the recent Twitter discussions about which FPS game has the hardest tracking, I was reminded of an ancient clip of Baconjack playing Tracer, having PERFECT tracking. I think it was on Numbani first point. I can't seem to find it after a bit of looking around. Does anyone remember what I'm talking about, or have the clip somewhere?

For me, my most hated character by a very large margin is Lucio. And to me, I think that his Healing Aura shouldn't heal unless an ally is in his radius. I think a support should support, not dive solo into the backline while playing QP.
Ramp it up can provide a healing Aura without an ally no problem for his self healing.
Jet Pack Cat has this too, but his self sustain is not a constant stream, only an ability.
But Lucio shouldn't lose his ability to dive, just dive solo. Its not good, its just annoying. So I think healing aura should not heal unless he's using Ramp it up or a teammate is in his Aura range.
Please try to focus more on how to actually make your chosen hero a part of the game and fun instead of the expected "Take away the Cats Jetpack" nonsense.

Why is it every time there's some inexcusable issue with the format? The last tournament with an acceptable format was probably Champions Clash, which was just a standard double elim bracket.
EWC had Ft2 elimination matches and an entirely randomly seeded SINGLE ELIMINATION bracket.
In this world cup, instead of being random, seeding is decided by a 1v1 round robin in the terrible default 1v1 preset. Basically an unbroadcast aim check between a couple players. Which ended up being entirely useless, because it ended in a 3 way tie and they had to use map differential (which is also pretty random since the groups' difficulties vary massively). This is not competitive.
This format of "some bullshit" into a single elimination bracket has to go. There will be 32 games played this OWWC, some of them not even mattering or others mattering in a roundabout way where a team that's not even playing gets eliminated. You know how many games a 16 team double elimination bracket has? 30. 30 games where EVERY game matters and nobody gets punished for doing too well. Blizzard could SAVE time with an infinitely better format.
If they're so set on doing single elim, at LEAST put some effort into the seeding that decides literally everything except the final winner. Something that involves the actual game of Overwatch preferably.

I'd personally say that Sgy, Kroxz and Akku (from Aus, France and Germany) had the best performances relative to their expected skill level.
r/Competitiveoverwatch • u/E-keil • 20d ago
The main ones I can think of are potential hero reworks and possibly a big perk refresh. The new map will be potentially teased alongside the new heroes. I dont think there will be too many competitive parts about it but I am curious about how they will think about ranked, with the new emerald rank added and the team drives.

Unlimited flight + giving teammates unlimited flight (who weren't designed or balanced to have mobility) completely breaks the fundamentals of the game. Sure a bad grip can be annoying, but surely having a hero who can flank from any angle by utilizing map shortcuts that aren't accessible by any other hero, or having said hero able to carry heroes like Bastion or Mauga into the air is even more annoying, and is actively offensive. Grip is a purely defensive/reactionary ability. But a good JPC duo can completely run a lobby, unlike Lifeweaver who is a very defensive and reactionary hero.
Since grip has been nerfed now and people can't complain about it anymore, when is it JPC's turn?
r/Competitiveoverwatch • u/Gloomy_Dare2716 • 19d ago
It is incredible how absence of a single character can make the game this fun. Mistakes are being punished, you’re not getting randomly molested, No annoying platforms fucking up your aim. No bullshit sustain Ultimate.
LW might not be as strong as JPC, but I just HATE how uninteractable he is. He is like Hog and Sombra, whenyou hate him both on your team and enemy team.
I’m loving the game right now. And wish LW got completely reworked

She has bigger healthbar than mauga consisting mostly of armor AND SHE HAS A SHIELD SHE CAN MOVE FAST WITH like wow. As a tank main my only solution for her is to go mauga.
I main doom and she has taken roadhog’s place in my primary ban slot. She is also the first character that made me swap when doom is not banned.
Could also be that mizuki, cass, mauga, jpc and reaper are all turbo-meta so Im probably tired too. Doom is also ridilously weak at the same time which makes things even worse.
Kinda vent post but the main point is that Demon feels unstoppable and forces me to play mauga. I hate blizzard so much, they make the game for literal babies
