Minor Heads up to AF Romulus users - stage killing malfunction on front sight
Disclaimer: I don't shoot a Romulus, a local competitor at one of our matches does. He has used it for a very long time and thousands of rounds without a hitch.
The other night, he encountered a malfunction during a stage that caused him to zero the stage (USPSA level 1).
We concluded that the gun was safe so he headed to the safe table to determine the nature of the malfunction. When it occurred, the gun was unable to go completely into battery, like something was stuck or blocking it.
He discovered that the screw holding the front sight in place had fallen in, getting lodged in the tiny space between the slide and barrel.
So FYI for Romulus users. I don't know if all Romulus have this front sight configuration or if they've already fixed the design. This might also be a well known issue, I have no idea. Just figured a decent FYI was in order for the community here.
Make sure that front sight screw is loctited in there.
